Blurred frenzy bug?

Is it just me or does it seem like blurred frenzy is missing a strike. I am testing it in the mists on the dummys and bots, and it seems to be missing a strike towards the end of the animation. Hopefully I’m just missing it, but worth looking into?

“The world you are trying to enter is full. Please have your party members join you in your world.” is the error I get when trying to enter the new AR instance. I disconnected, and upon reconnecting, this began to happen. I left the party, completely relogged and switched characters, formed a new party, and it is still happening. Just though yall might wanna know.

Rank 20 LF Tpvp team

Fathominc.2407

Rank 20 player here. I played pretty seriously at launch for a few months, but most of my friends quit, and with no one to talk to, I grew tired of pugging groups. Anyhow, I am back and looking for a team for Tpvp.

About me…

Main Mesmer, Warrior, Ranger, or Necro depending on group needs.
Played against some very competitive teams early on in GW2’s life, and did very well. Currently have ~60% win rate, and that is including PUGs. I am 28, and know the ins-outs of most classes. Familiar with the map types, and various strats.

Looking for a decent team that uses some kind of VOIP, willing to take the time to test various comps to achieve maximum efficiency, while having a blast.

Anyhow, hit me up in game!

Old Player Coming Back

I am actually an old player aswell looking to come back. I played for a bit after most of my friends quit, enjoying alts and getting both my warrior and hunter to max level. If you are looking for someone to play with, I would be more than happy to join, though I cannot remember the server that I was on. Also, I will be looking for an active guild to join that uses some kind of VOIP for communication. See everyone in game!

So 1v1 Ranger is a joke

Just a tip, and really this goes for all classes. Equip stunbreakers, and more importantly, USE THEM!

Just for example, I run Lightning reflexes and the condition removal / stunbreak signet on my ranger. with these tool, along with the evasiveness of shortbow / sword, PW and HS spam thieves, 100B warriors, and other gimmicky classes don’t stand a chance. Not to say that well played ones can’t kill me, but they are not relying on 1 ability for their damage.

As far as mesmers, they are certainly the strongest 1v1 class in the game. I quit playing mine in tPvP and sPvP because it just felt cheesy and cheap. It wasn’t rewarding to spam phantasms and LOS my enemies. It felt alot like pillar-humping in WoW arenas to me.

Now that I think of it, why doesn’t quickening zephyr break stun? I know the thief version does, and I am pretty sure the warrior frenzy does aswell.

The point is not that anyone cares or not about farming glory.

The point is that those farming glory are preventing the others from playing the maps for what they are…

It’s no fun being in a group that just agrees on not doing pvp, just using the map and the system for some boring grind routine.

It’s even worse when they call you out if you do want to pvp… in a pvp encounter.

Personally I do pvp for the fun of it, shiny gear comes second.
Others can join for different reasons, but don’t tell me to drop my pvp fun for your farming of glory points…

Exactly! I didn’t really feel like it needed to be said, but for those who cannot see the obvious. I’ll quote it again.

Okay some good points were brought up that I didn’t think of. I can admit when I am wrong.

To fix people leaving games, put up a deserter debuff ala WoW. I hate to resort to referring to WoW, but if something works, then it deserves a mention here.

The numbers posted above were just example numbers, I should have clarified that. maybe 25% instead of 33% reduction. maybe 100 instead of 150 glory bonus to the winners. I am simply trying to start a discussion with some constructive ideas that, hopefully, can be built upon.

So after thinking about it for some time, I feel that the solution is very simple.

First, if a team wins each member gets a flat 150 glory bonus. This way, even node defenders who succesfully defend nodes to help their team win gain a significant amount of glory, even if they are unopposed for the majority of a match. They did their job, and should be rewarded as such, just as any other teammate would.

Second, node defenders should get a static +5 glory for every 30-45 sec they spend inside a node. This will help to keep entire teams from zerging around, while not giving a huge advantage to defenders.

Third, cut the losers glory gains by 33% across the board. So if someone gains say 100 glory during a match, but then loses they only receive 67 glory at the end of the round. This is not youth soccer, not everyone is a winner. Winning should matter. There should be a very significant difference between winning and losing.

These proposed changes may seen drastic, but whats not to love. Winners get more for winning, losers have incentive to try harder.

i dont htink its the map chat that is the issue here, sure farming glory by trading nodes is a more effective way to farm glory…I DO NOT CARE ABOUT THAT!…i personally want to go in and play a game and not have to deal with hey man we are jsut dueling in here go somewhere else. or the node flippers, this actually pisses me off far more than losing a fair well played match because at least that is fun.

i dont even care about glory gear i will always wear the gear that shows off my guild symbol since that is what is cool to me .

please do something about this and please allow dueling in the mists because not having it is silly and basically forces us to use empty maps to duel in to test specs out or other reasons people have for dueling..

The offenders getting glory for gear isn’t what upsets me, it is merely a symptom of the issue. The main issue for me is that when I join these types of games I am singled out as a “fun-killer” for playing how the game was intended to be played, and farmed by an entire team while my team does nothing but laugh. I hardly think that I can be faulted for playing and enjoying the game the way it was designed to be played.

The other issue that I have is the blatant exploiting of the system for the glory. I don’t give two kitten if they have the gear, but exploiting is akin to cheating in my eyes, and no one likes a cheater. Who wants to play in a game full of cheaters.

So I have come across this multiple times, but today was a bit of a breaking point after i joined in a couple of games after work, only to be told to “don’t fight, just trade cap points back and forth to farm glory” or “GTFO NOOB WE ARE FARMING GLORY HERE”. All I was doing was playing the maps as intended, capturing points, killing objective NPCs, and skirmishing other players. I am sure many other have run across this aswell.

I am asking you ANET Devs, what is your stance on this kind of glory farming? I have stated in every game that I have joined where this type of activity is taking place that the players are indeed “exploiting” and could face possible punishment from ANET.

Before you say whoa Fathom, you are overreacting, please allow me to elaborate…

ex·ploit [ik-sploit]
verb (used with object)
1.
to utilize, especially for profit; turn to practical account: to exploit a business opportunity.
2.
to use selfishly for one’s own ends: employers who exploit their workers.
3.
to advance or further through exploitation; promote: He exploited his new movie through a series of guest appearances.

These players are blatantly exploiting the system, manipulating it in a way which it was not designed. They are doing this for their own personal benefit, and at the cost of players like myself who want good, legitimate games. After bringing the issues up, one player simply stated in map chat to “Farm Fathom until he leaves”, at which point every player on the other enemy killed me upon leaving the spawn point, and my team did nothing to help. I left after the match was over, and went on my merry way.

ANET, please (if you have not already) make an official statement regarding this kind of practice. I have a feeling that it is not something that you condone or approve of. If not, please give us a way to report players doing this very thing. I have been submitting bug reports with screen shots of map chat, and the players in the match up to this point, but honestly, I would rather just enjoy my gameplay.

I realize that sure, it would be easier to just leave and find another game, but I care about the community and the game to much to just look the other way. This type of activity compromises the essence and integrity of the game, and makes it less enjoyable for those of us that legitimately play the game the way it was intended. Thanks for your time.

where can I find the easy, medium and hard settings?

Unfortunately for your granddaughter, there is no difficulty setting in this game. A game of this type might prove a little difficult for a young child to learn, but it is doable. Teach her to look for mobs and bosses telegraphing their moves so that she can effectively avoid the damage. Additionally, if she levels up a bit via crafting, not only will she have level appropriate gear which helps a lot, but she can go back and do lower level content and still earn XP. Sure the game scales your level down, but due to traits and the fact that your gear is typically proportionality better at higher levels, she may have an easier time of it. Don’t be afraid to help her yourself as well, down-scaling is awesome!
