Just finished with a PYRO/VR run on FA BL. I think we had probably 60ish. I guess FA probably had around the same, maybe a few more. It was literally unplayable. Why on earth anyone would want to do this on a regular basis is beyond me.!
Is this in reference to the blob wars at FABL garrison last night? I ran into the middle of that and for about 30 seconds everyone was standing around peacefully. The server seemed to have forgotten to send data to my client. Not even spamming #1 worked. Unplayable. Literally.
Uh, that doesn’t happen to me, even in 3way SMC fights with SoR and BG. Don’t blame Anet for you having incapable hardware.
It doesn’t sound like incapable hardware. Sounds more like an incapable internet connection. Standard issue network lag there. (not to be confused with skill lag)
That mess up by Garrison was something else, and not enjoyable. We combined our guild groups (TC) and pushed after the FA zerg up to southwest gate. Just as FA all got there to push us back off gate, the Mag zerg came up behind us. Pretty much nearly everyone on that map happened to hit the same point at the same moment.
On the lag note, I rarely ever lag, even on the three way SMC lord’s room brawls… but that mess at Garrison last night? I was getting nasty skill lag. Maybe Chaba was referring to that.

FA BL outside of mag spawn was a blast. Great maneuvering on all sides.
Yea, that was some fun last night. A bunch of different guild groups from each server, all stacking/charging/flanking at different times. Some of the most fun I’ve had in open field combat. Props to everyone involved. Looking forward to more of this.
You guys(TC) are upset b/c for the first time in a month you are having to deal with what YB, CD and FA has had to deal with the entire time. We have all had both opposing servers in our backyard for the last 3.5 weeks. Its easy to talk about superior defense when no one is attacking your shizz, not so easy now is it? Get used to it, I’m gunning for you TC. Before you say it, no its not because I want to move up a tier, its b/c of all the mess you have been talking on the forums the past few weeks. Look forward to seeing you and all that superior defense, I imagine I will be wiping that smug smile off the bottom of my boot.
I do not know a single person on TC who is upset. We don’t care who is teaming up with who, or who is saying what on the forums. We don’t care if we’re in a match and down 100k, or up 100k. Every time we’re out there, we bring it. Regardless of the circumstances.
So please, continue the talk here. TC will be out there having a great time in this matchup, just like we have every single week since launch. I don’t care if we have every server in WvW working against us, we’ll still be out there fighting for our server. It is called pride, and that is something TC has never lacked.
See you out there.
They do not go through some complex thought process that “Hmm, FA has a better shot a first place, so we better attack their tower on the other side of the map, and leave the Yak’s tower by our keep, alone.” It just doesn’t happen. It is not reality.
Erm, actually… that’s exactly what we were doing. Just today, even. Not that scenario, but that sort of forward-planning. It ended when one server got too greedy, so we had to push them a bit.
Frankly if servers aren’t thinking about where they’re going to be next week or who their most strategic target is long-term then they’re not really going to move anywhere but down.
If that Yak tower in your scenario was posing an immediate threat to our keep then obviously we’d take it and fortify it. However if it was just sitting there and it was strategically advantageous for us to leave it alone for an hour or two then we’d do exactly that. Obviously we’d monitor it, but we’d do exactly that.
That’s how wargaming works.
I am not trying to be insulting here, but if you’re ignoring an undefended tower next to your keep, because of the scoreboard, that is bad strategy.
WvW is simple: Get points for your server.
If you’re ignoring a tower, you’re giving up those points for that hour or two… all because of some overall strategy based on the scoreboard. If you want the scoreboard to go your way, you need to focus on your corner of the map first. If you need to hit supply camps outside of it to draw the enemy forces away… do it… but do not overextend to some random point just because of who holds it.
Adopt that simple strategy on every map, and you’ll do much better. It may seem simplistic, but it is reality.
If you are staring at the leaderboard and scoreboard, and trying to figure out which server to focus on? While you’re focusing on that one server, the other two are going to be attacking whoever is the easiest target. So if you’re completely ignoring one opponent on a map, of course they’re going to beat you. It is just poor strategy. You cannot focus one server in this game and hope to win.
Ironically, TC does not worry about who they’re facing next week. We do not tunnel vision one enemy based on the scoreboard. And we’re not moving down.
I just get tired of hearing about alliances or people focusing specific servers. For 99% of the people out there, it does not happen. There is no ultimate strategy that every guild on each server follows. People go out there, and the kill the enemy.
Honnor: Thanks.
A few things:
@Fel: I understand your point, but I think you might be underestimating the impact Commander icons have on the ebb and flow of “militia” around a map. Certain individuals in certain positions can have a larger impact than your run of the mill WvWer, and some of those individuals do pop on these forums.
I’m not one of them, I just like to discuss things.
I’ve been commanding on TC for a few months now. I read these threads to see what everyone’s perception of the current match up is.
I’ll tell you this though… I work with a lot of the TC commanders, and we have never let our actions be dictated by the scoreboard. It is horrible strategy. You get on a map, and you push what you can take and hold. You expand from there. Sure you make moves outside of your area to disrupt enemy supply lines, but you don’t pull your entire group over to a certain point just because of the scoreboard.
And that is why I get irritated at the alliance talk :P It is irrelevant when you’re actually in WvW. In WvW, if its red, its dead. If you don’t take the easiest most logical point next, you are not gaining your server the maximum number of points possible. It is a commander’s job to help lead to the next logical point, and set it up to be as easy as possible to take.
The alliance/political discussions here, have zero impact on what actually happens in WvW. If I push FA too hard, Yak’s will take the opportunity to hit our territory. If I hit Yak’s too hard, FA will attack. If I know Yak’s is pushing on FA, we either hit the other side of FA, or hit the other side of Yak’s… all dependent on which point is least defended and the most logical to take next. Three way fight. Working as intended.
The biggest fallacy on the WvW forums, is that people actually think the discussions taking place here, affect what happens in-game.
Reality: 99% of the people in WvW, do not read these threads. They don’t care about server politics, or alliance rumors.
They login, figure out which map their guild is going to, or where a certain commander is, or look at the map and see which map needs help, and go there.
Once there… they attack whatever point is vulnerable for attack. They don’t care about what color it is. They attack the next logical point, or one that is not defended.
Simple.
They do not go through some complex thought process that “Hmm, FA has a better shot a first place, so we better attack their tower on the other side of the map, and leave the Yak’s tower by our keep, alone.” It just doesn’t happen. It is not reality.
The reality is that each server attacks the most vulnerable point, in order to get more points for their server. Because whoever has the most points at the end of the week… wins! Surprise surprise!
Will this stop people on the forums from thinking the alliance rumors are true and that trash talk actually matters? Nope. But hey, as long as people are staying entertained, to each their own.
For the record I just want FA to start defending in the Eternal Battleground so that I no longer have a reason to prefer them over Yak’s Bend.
FA did a hell of a job defending QL last night. That place was a death trap…. even after we had two walls down, and a treb setup to clear siege from inside. When we rushed it that second time, I couldn’t believe how much siege was still left inside. Impressive defense!
Fun times in EB last night, and WvW overall. I am thankful that I can login, get into WvW, and work with the awesome people on TC. That is the reality of WvW… not the drama that goes on here. The drama that goes on here, has zero impact on actual WvW. It is 100% irrelevant. The sooner people realize that, the faster these threads will improve.
The recruits keep rolling in. I couldn’t speak more highly of the new members we’ve gained in GW2.
If you’re looking for a gaming community with a packed full weekly schedule, and community members who are not only top notch gamers, but also a tight knit group… look no further.
www.VanguardGaming.com
Bloodgale Vanguard continues to be a force on Tarnished Coast. With 20+ members around for our peak WvW nights, along with active RP, PvE, and sPvP… there are more events than we can keep up with. Come join in the fun!
TC had actually just taken the keep. Your group was able to get up on the inner keep wall just prior to us capping it, and Yak’s had a group on the north inner gate as soon as we capped it. Yak’s busted in, and quickly pressed us at the Keep Lord. We purposely pushed Yak’s towards the FA group to wipe them. After Yak’s was cleared, we proceeded to push the FA group out of the inner keep.
Oh I’m well aware of all the deets, I was just looking to casually set up a joke about 2v1, because I’d rather laugh at it than frown at it. Our group from FA was just a wee bit late in contesting the keep, otherwise it would have been a 3-way at the lord. I don’t think I was above half health for about 5 straight minutes as we were going back and forth on top of that wall. Fight was fun.
Yea, you should’ve seen us in team chat and spatial yelling at everyone to focus the Keep Lord as you guys were rushing in behind us. Very close! You guys had a nice group going there last night. Was a ton of fun.
More awesome fights tonight in YBBL. Even after ULTD broke for the night (basically guaranteed fun when we romp around as a group), there was some fun little back-and-forth between FA spawn and Bluelake.
Cheers to good times, both TC and YB.
EDIT – Also, at one point, I believe we were fighting YB who were down on the ground within the walls of Inner Bay, while we were up. TC came behind them and wiped them while they were shooting at us. I just wanted to thank TC for honoring the terms of our new 2v1 alliance against YB.

It was an epic battle, and the sort of stuff I’m really enjoying during our matchups with Yak’s and FA. Even after we secured the inner keep, Yak’s had another large group bust in the NE gate, which led to another epic battle on the cliff top wall.
Overall, for the four hours we were in YBBL, it was just a constant grind and nonstop action on all fronts. I loved it, and look forward to more. FA, you certainly made it a challenge at GV!
Great job on that video! And thanks again to everyone who came out for some dancing in Lion’s Arch! Good times.
Tarnished Coast.
You can login to WvW, down and out of the match, and map/team chat is still talking about where to hit next, and how to rally together to continue to fight.
No one turns on each other, morale never takes a hit.
Now, just because TC has an amazing fighting spirit when down in a match, doesn’t mean we don’t know how to fight We’re winning our current matchup, and continue to improve on our server’s coordination every week. You’ll be hard pressed to find a more positive group of gamers. TC keeps things ego free, and doesn’t put up with drama.
Give TC a shot. You won’t regret it.
This is true. I have also offered to buy beer for those following my Commander Icon for all their hard work and effort they put in.
One of the stipulations however that is saving me is that you must come to me to get your beer… apparently nobody else on my server is from Vancouver so it’s saved me a few rounds.
The offer still stands!
The second stipulation, is that it does not apply to other commanders. When he put out that offer, I offered to bring my entire group south to rally up with him, until he pointed out that I did not qualify to get free beer :P I understand it may have not been a smart strategic move to leave the north front undefended… but, free beer!
On a serious note (beer is serious too), TC is the best server around. Every single person on the map is working together to do what is best for the server. No egos, no drama. The coordination/team work between commanders is top notch, and the server’s morale is always high, regardless of the score.
Our night crew is definitely growing, and they are a superb bunch of people. I have run with many of them during late night/early morning (NA EST time for me), and our night crew knows how to have fun. If anyone is interested in discussing a transfer, or finding an oceanic guild on TC, please let us know.

BGV had some awesome WvW over the past few days, including working on some more advanced WvW tactics (to great effect!). We have gotten a bunch of top notch recruits lately, and could not be happier with how things are progressing.
As a reminder, our weekly schedule:
Monday: WvW
Tuesday: RP
Wednesday: PvE
Thursday: sPvP
Friday: WvW
Saturday + Sunday: Open nights, usually WvW.
All events are optional, and if you don’t feel like participating in one, we generally have other guild groups out having fun as well. We stick to our no drama policy at all times, and enjoy a laid back atmosphere where we play the game to have fun, while seeking to be competitive in an ego free way.

Please check us out if you are interested. I can promise the group of gamers we have here, will not let you down.

I understand the frustration level from DB and FA due to the current scoring, but I have to point out something….
Yes the object of WvW is winning, but this is a game, and when we login at night we’re looking for enjoyment. I logged in last night, and yes, we had a sizeable lead. I went to Dragonbrand BL, and despite the #’s saying TC was dominating… FA and DB put up a fierce fight.
For about five hours straight, DB and FA rallied and kept on us. It was a top notch night of WvW in my book. Epic battles at Garrison (all three servers there?), great keep assaults and defense, tons of flanking and actual large scale strategy from all three servers.
I was very impressed. It was non-stop action. Half the time we’d clear a camp from one server’s zerg, only to have the third server jump into the action and throw things into chaos. I absolutely loved it.
My point being… yes, the score may seem lopsided right now, but our prime time crews are definitely a competitive matchup. I encourage all players to continue what they’re doing here, because I’m not sure how anyone didn’t have fun in Dragonbrand last night. It was a great time… and that is the real point of WvW.
TC, keep it up. You guys continue to impress the hell out of me. I’ve never met a server of people so dedicated to drama free teamwork in a large-scale PvP atmosphere. You guys make this game WAY too much fun. Thanks for another quality night.

Thrumdi, this is awesome!
For the Coast!
Why would a Commander have to be level 80? They’re there for their skill in leading people, not 1 on 1 fighting.
Seriously. Commander Fel has been leading combat since at least Star Wars Galaxies and everyone who’s ever been in a GW2 BL with Bloodgale Vanguard can vouch for his tactical prowess.
He just hit 80 this week.
Thanks Mordrok. Yes, I did hit 80 this week. I did 99% of my leveling in WvW… and when you’re playing defense and not continually pushing camps and towers, that leveling can go slow. That does not limit one from leading. Of course, a lower level commander may have a tougher time staying alive.
I don’t argue that the commander system could be improved… However, improvements that require 1000 MoH or something, won’t do anything. Just because a person can kill a lot of people or spend a lot of time in WvW, doesn’t mean they can actually lead.
Anyways, this week was the toughest week I’ve seen yet in WvW. Every day/night I logged into a map, we usually had one tower, or nothing. The positive is that we got to work on our guerrilla tactics, and constant offensives, which in turn led to us being able to cap the points closer to our spawn. It was a challenge… but the morale of TC was constantly positive. I love our server. We never gave up on this matchup.
Best of luck to Blackgate in the higher tiers. You certainly are a force. Aspenwood? I think we would have a good matchup. I’m sure we’ll be seeing you around in the near future.
EDIT: Floxxx, thank you. You and Madember of TSL are both top notch. Looking forward to working with you on the battlefield.
Yes, we really have had a great crew of new recruits join over the past week or two.
Our nightly events (WvW, sPvP, RP, PVE) are always filled up, and result in a lot of fun both in guildchat and on our Mumble server.
WvW continues to be top notch… We have an excellent system, where our guild forms up to take strategic points and provide intel, while I lead the server zerg on the map. It results in many epic flanks, and coordinated movements to defend our server’s territory, or wreck havok upon our enemies.
Our community is also active in several other games, with an active guild on Emerald Dream in WoW. We have been around for years gaming together, and are looking to continue expanding our ranks with top notch players who are focused on being competitive, while keeping things in perspective and most importantly? Having fun.
We keep things respectful, we fight with honor, and we have a fierce loyalty to this guild we call home.
www.vanguardgaming.com
To the top. We’ve gotten some great new recruits. Tonight is one of our ‘official’ WvW nights, so expect to see us out in force.
I can not stress this enough, and I hope the other servers get a hint of it too, because it sure makes WvW fun. TC does not care what the score is. We are going to show up every night and try to hit you guys right in the mouth. We have a wonderful community that has really come together to form a tenacious prime time team and we will always be up to the challenge.
Hell yes.
See you out there tonight, Mo!
I haven’t kept up much with the politics, but what are the top WvW guilds from TC?
We have a mixture of WvWvW guilds and Rp PvP guilds that do some WvWvW.
I will give the initials of some of the top WvWvW guilds (in terms of size) in TC since I’ve been around in BETA, as to not butcher their full names.
-PiNK with our famous Commander Commander Jadon.
-EP
-TSL with yours truly, Commander Floxxx and Commmander Madember.
-RELM
-SWAG
-TSG (Yay Aussies!)
-FLUX
-SC (Shadow Company RP PvP)
-MF with Commander Mo Bedda Cheese, Commander Skornn (and 2 others) as a recent addition.
-MORT (Haven’t seen them around recently.)
-WaM (Haven’t seem them around recently either.)Please feel free to add to this list. I will also PM you other guild leaders of large WvWvW guilds about upcoming improvements to our WvWvW Alliance. Make sure you state your main character name, size of guild (approx. numbers you field in Dubb Vee Dubb or specific nights you field them, if not daily).
Please add Bloodgale Vanguard (BGV) to that list. Commander Fel. We have 15+ during our official WvW nights, although we generally always have a group out there fighting. Working on a second commander book too.
We have loved the challenge this week, and seeing all that TC pride in BG borderland last night, was awesome. Love this server.
TC, great grind tonight in Fort Aspenwood BL. Was a hell of a day there… very, um, brutal
But we rallied up and held there. Great job, and another testament to TC having enough pride in our server to push WvW, no matter the odds stacked against us… and BG, you’re some tough odds Good times in FA BL. Thanks all.
Fel
I second everything in this post. TC is the best server around. Very happy Bloodgale Vanguard decided to come here. We have never even considered the possibility of a server transfer. All of the people I’ve met on TC, feel the same way. It is awesome to have that type of loyalty. Nothing better to bring a community together.
Props to the TC crew in the FA BL at server start. Great push, solid defense. Some serious competition out there. We had orb almost back, BG jumped us. Then BG almost had it back, and we jumped them. Love it.
Looking forward to a full week of things being competitive. I guess we’ll see how things look after the night crews get though.
TOAST! Keep it up. Best server around.
Mithion, Bloodgale Vanguard may be a great fit for you all. We have weekly RP events, but they are optional. We are a casual guild that does not require attendance, however, we always push ourselves to be competitive with the best of them. Many of us are married and many have kids. We understand RL > gaming.
Our community has been together for several years. Please see our recruitment post here:
Our events start around 8pm EST every night. Hope to hear from you, and best of luck on your search for a guild!

Welcome to TC!! Glad you chose to join us!
If you’re active in WvW, be sure to check out our WvW alliance:
Looking forward to seeing you out on the battlefield.
We’re planning a major offensive tonight after the server match reset. Tarnished Coast is once again projected to move up in the rankings. Our WvW group has been growing, and we have proven to be a major force out there.
We are currently working on our second commander book.
If you’re looking for a group of people who know how to have fun, who don’t put up with drama or big egos… and can be competitive with the best of them… check us out. Our nightly event schedule is completely filled up. We offer some of everything… RP, PvE, sPvP, and of course WvW.
Best crew of people I’ve ever gamed with, by far.
www.vanguardgaming.com
Big props to TC yesterday. When I came into our borderland, we literally had zero points captured (around 9am EST, geez is that CD group nasty in the morning!). We proceeded to expand out to both towers, and take back our garrison. We had a firm hold on everything, and decided to go after the orb… and wow did that wake CD up :P
You guys must’ve had a bunch of people switch over to our map. The whole morning we had been dealing with smaller CD zergs, and suddenly one twice our size showed up, and literally took EVERY point back from us… all the way back to the supply camps. We just didn’t have the #’s on to stop that zerg.
Most servers would have quit after something demoralizing like that. That is why I’m proud of TC. We rallied up, and started just like we did before. We slowly expanded out, and eventually held every point on the map outside of Dreaming Bay and the southwest points. TC, thank you for sticking it out and rallying like that. It says a lot about our server… We never gave up the entire week.
Props to both Dragonbrand and Crystal Desert, this was by far the best match we’ve had, as it challenged us the entire week. Looking forward to future possible matchups with you both.
Great job, TC! Another push today just like we had yesterday, continue to grind it out. Very impressed with the dedication on our server. Keep it up, get in those maps!
We’ve had some intense WvW action the past few nights. Last night, we held down the CD BL despite being outnumbered by both other servers. We kept control of the entire east side of the map for the majority of the night.
The best part had to be our assault on CD held Garrison. It appeared CD had picked up their orb to get it reset. So while the 15 minute countdown began, we quickly organized and assaulted the water gate at Garrison. We busted through into the inner keep, and while the siege golems tanked the keep lord, our force sprinted to the top of the Garrison near the vista to find the orb carrier. With less than a minute left on the reset timer, a well placed Tornado by Chaella cleared the defenders around the orb carrier, and we grabbed the orb (props to Molly for grabbing it!). This was followed by a mad dash for our SH Keep.
Super intense, and a lot of fun. Props to the members from the AWC who rallied with us, and to the CD BL crew who did an amazing job the entire night.
If you want to be part of some highly organized, and FUN WvW… along with PvE, optional RP events, and whatever else you can think of (see above schedule), check us out…
www.vanguardgaming.com
I second that shout out to the CD BL crew last night. We were outnumbered the entire night, and yet held our own and got that orb. You guys did an awesome job. I’m glad to hear you all coordinated so well through rest of the night!
I’ve been very impressed with the leadership on TC. Every map I go to, team and map chat is positive and all about working together. Personally, I love the challenge we’ve had this week. It is a lot more fun than locking up first place within the first few days. Props to TC for being an awesome server. Looking forward to our continued improvement!
BGV also has a commander book now. Expect our continued presence in WvW on Tarnished Coast. We look forward to more coordination with the WvW guilds on our server, and are always seeking new recruits who are interested in what Vanguard Gaming is about.
Last night we fielded between 15 and 20 guild members in WvW, along with additional people from the top notch guilds within the AWC (our server’s WvW alliance). We made an impact wherever we were on the Dragonbrand borderland… from being the primary force actively defending our southern points, to claiming towers and laying siege to the garrison.
Overall, it was an excellent night. The majority of our members have been pvping together for going on two years, which has created an excellent core of talented PvPers who know how to operate as a unit.
We are looking to continue expanding our ranks, and while our primary focus has been WvW lately, we also hold weekly optional RP events, PvE events, and sPvP events (literally, something for everyone). Every single week night we have scheduled events. The weekend nights are open, although we are usually grouping for more WvW.

Thank you.
Jaedzia, everything you just said sounds a lot like what Vanguard Gaming is about. Our median age is around 29 or 30, and we have the same goals and priorities. We have many parents (including myself), and 5+ guild events per week. We value RL over gaming of course, and would never put pressure on our members to act otherwise. We are a multi-game community, which has been together for several years. On GW2, we average 15 to 20 online during peak hours.
That being said, we would be tenative about accepting so many players in without talking about this in detail first. In fact, I generally would avoid a guild merge, because it is very important to us to make sure people are the right fit. However, your post just rings true to what we’re about. We have had several smaller guilds merge with us over the past two years, so it can work. We’d be more than willing to discuss to see if this is the right fit for both guilds.
Please visit www.vanguardgaming.com. If you register there, feel free to send me a message, or even create a forum thread to discuss. You can also hit us up in-game, Bloodgale Vanguard (on Tarnished Coast).
Regardless of your decision, best of luck to you and your group.
(edited by Fel.8195)
Fel can i get that voip this way when need be i can relay kitten to my guild.
Hit me up in-game, or anyone from the AWC. Definitely important for the VoIP coordination.
Besides we shouldn’t exactly air stuff out on a public forum.
Exactly.
New match tonight. Oceanic players, if you want to join a server that is progressing every week, and more importantly, game with people who coordinate and have a good time, check out Tarnished Coast.
Besides having a large group of well established WvW guilds from both NA and Oceanic regions, we also have a 400 person VoIP server for WvW coordination.
If our matchup turns out to be against Dragonbrand and Crystal Desert, we look forward to it.
Thank you for your constructive criticism… I’m still lost on the whole “their strats haven’t and won’t continue working on highly organized servers”. Your opinion, of course. Just not sure what type of evidence would ever suggest that.
Reinforcing our night crew is certainly not a bad thing, hence the point of this thread.
(edited by Fel.8195)
Pretty funny that i read someone say there is a lack of ego with the TC rp’rs, especially reading the following posts trying to stroke it all up. When we were losing you guys were nowhere to be found. I guess noone wants to rp the loser, huh? Being positive and friendly does go a long way but i’ve seen it fall apart time after time when you see your coin go down to the flame rams and elementals. TC needs more than just a nighttime presence, we need the foul mouthed hardcore pvp’rs that most of our server is too thin skinned to handle. We do work together really well and its nice seeing the guilds willing to spend coin and seeing it through, but we need to work on our strategy. The way we have played this last week won’t work against well populated WvW guilds.
What does ego have to do with recruitment for the server? That makes no sense. There is a huge difference between ego and pride. Sorry for having pride in our server, but I think we have plenty to be proud of.
There were still queue times when we were losing (which was 2+ weeks ago?). TC was a different server when we first faced Dragonbrand. I’d welcome a rematch. I’m sure the new match tonight will be much more challenging, but I have faith that we’ll hold our own.
And to work on our strategy? Instead of just placing broad accusations, please give specific details. I’m confused, since for the majority of the week, we held a massive lead.
/shrug
On topic… new match starts tonight. Most likely moving up into the top 9, after two wins in a row. If any oceanic guilds or players are looking for a great server to call home, check us out!
That’s how it starts. The odd guy in the bar. Soon it’ll be a couple people who go to the bar to ‘make fun’ of the roleplayers but get caught up in it.
After that, it is over. All will become roleplayers.
What I -love- about Tarnished Coast is the community.
We have an incredible group of people. Sure, we have our bad apples (burnt toast perhaps?) but they are few and far between. As a whole, the server population leans towards a great group of folk.
I think you capture the sentiment of Tarnished Coast really well with the comment of “I’d rather lose with friends then win with people I dislike.”
1000x this. Look at TC the past two weeks in WvW. When the server got coordinated and started to work together, we became unstoppable. There are no egos in WvW, just a server working together to win.
It is definitely something special here. Very rarely do you see an atmosphere like ours in an MMO.
I’m glad TSG came over here. If any other oceanic guilds are looking for a top notch server, where you can not only progress up the WvW rankings, but also have FUN in a zero drama atmosphere… check us out. You won’t regret it.
If you’re looking for a guild full of people who know how to have fun, while keeping it respectful, with zero drama… if you’re looking for a guild that has events nearly every night of the week… if you’re tired of having to switch guilds because of inactivity, or because of switching games… check out our community, which spans across several different games. It is the last guild you’ll ever have to join. We stick together, we push to be competitive in everything we do, but we always keep things in perspective.
After one night of WvW with us, you will have laughed constantly while on our VoIP servers, and you will also have felt multiple moments of being fiercely proud to be part of this top notch group of gamers, and more importantly, friends.
If this sounds like something you’re looking for in gaming? Please check us out:

Despite my frustration towards the group cap issue… I absolutely love WvW. Props to Anet for creating some of the best WPvP I’ve seen in a long time. Our guild can’t get enough of it… just please give us the option to get into one group
Yes. We came to the conclusion that there is zero point in attacking a garrison until this bug is fixed.
To coordinate a large group to take down two doors, get all the way in, and then find out it was a waste? Meanwhile, you took all of those people away from rest of the map, and will end up having to re-cap points you lost during your pointless siege of the garrison.
Just not worth it, unfortunately. It is far more effective to avoid that risk, and organize people to take points you know can be capped.
Ahmrill said it right there…
We use our VoIP server constantly for WvW. We require people to be on there. In past games maybe you could call a kill target easily by name… can’t do that in WvW though! "Kill the Norn Mesmer from the guild “TAG” first." Doesn’t work at all, because there are no names, and TBH, the UI makes it difficult to select that target from a crowd of 20 enemies.
Between not being able to mark your kill targets for your entire group, and people not being able to see rest of the group on the map, it is horribly inefficient. Sure I can ctrl+T a target and know 4 other people will be on it… but what about the other 2 or 3 groups?
The sad part is, I really do not see a reason for having a 5 man group limit. What is the point to doing this? Why prevent guilds from being more social? Does it make sense to force an entire map into one chat, while there are several different attacks or defenses going on at any given time?
So yes… if Anet is set on this commander system, they need to implement an actual ‘raid’ functionality to it. If they don’t want to do that, at least give guilds the option to create larger groups. I’m getting very tired of having to split up into multiple groups.
SWTOR had a similar limit on Warzones (5 people). For us, that really tainted a large portion of the game for us. We would have 10 to 20 people wanting to do warzones, and we were forced to split up into 5 man groups… you could never do stuff together as a guild.
Lets hope that Anet decides to encourage the social feature in this game. Please raise the group caps so that guilds can actually get everyone together, so we can fight effectively like we have in past games.
Thanks.
To the top! Tonight we have some sPvP going on… followed by more WvW I’m sure.
Hey Zokkar… Vanguard Gaming is a gaming community that has been around for a few years now. Our guild in GW2 is Bloodgale Vanguard. We field 15 to 20 people online during prime time hours, and are growing.
I’m not sure what you’re looking for specifically in-game, but our weekly schedule offers some of everything.
Our recruitment post is here:
Feel free to contact us on our website, or hit me up in-game. We enforce a strict no drama policy. We have a lot of fun, but we always keep it respectful. More information is on our website as well.
Thanks! And best of luck.
Personally, I love that idea. Although the universal commander icon is useful for independent players within the zerg.
But giving each guild that ability (maybe through influence upgrades?) would be amazing.
The OP never stated he would expect everyone to follow him. His only point was valid, about it being account bound.
The primary reason for any guild to invest in the commander book, is to exceed the 5 man group limit. It is not a matter of getting a blue icon over your head. It is not a matter of bragging or automatically qualifying as a WvW general. It isn’t even a matter of having too much time on their hands.
Most of those people are getting that book so they can get past the incredibly low group # cap, and begin to organize people. Hell, it doesn’t even have to be the commander calling the shots… as long as he/she can be there to get the group together.
On the other hand, if that person is attempting to lead in WvW, the only way they’ll get respect is by leading effectively. That is earned. And if the commander icon helps to coordinate the map? Working as intended.
Back on topic: I would love for this to be account bound. I had already come to the conclusion I’d be stuck on one character while playing WvW… but it would be very nice to be able to change that up. Sure, I could go on another character… but the second my guild joins the map, I would have to switch to my commander character in order to start up the group.

Last night, we (Bloodgale Vanguard on TC), took Longview tower in Ehmry Bay BL. We held it against zergs from both Ehmry Bay and Maguuma. Multiple times all three servers were fighting there.
Eventually as our trebs weakend the Ehmry Bay Garrison’s walls, TC rushed in, and took down the Maguuma force that was already working on the inner gate. We then finished off the gate, and rushed the keep lord… only to find out he had been bugged.
After 5 or 10 minutes of TC running around kiting the bugged keep lord… Maguuma rushed in. Mayhem followed. Three servers, all killing each other. Last I saw before taking waypoint, was Maguuma kiting the bugged keep lord :P
I am sure rumors of alliances are going to become an accepted portion of WvW drama… but for the people I know on TC (and within the AWC), red = dead, regardless of server. We make the best strategic move to improve our point standings, regardless of what server is against us.
Our current weekly schedule:
Monday – WvW
Tuesday – RP
Wednesday – PvE
Thursday – SPvP
Friday – WvW
Saturday – WvW
Sunday – WvW/Meetings
We tend to be involved in WvW on a nightly basis. Just last night we fielded three guild groups (we are currently saving up for our commander book), and had a lot of success… Including taking a tower (guild members only), claiming it, and then defending it against both Ehmry Bay and Maguuma’s zergs, while trebbing Ehmry Bay’s garrison wall.
We use Mumble for VoIP, and promise a lot of fun :P We consider ourselves competitive when it comes to PvP… we keep Mumble clear while calling targets, and we expect our members to follow orders and stay together as a group (don’t chase!). On the other hand, you will laugh, a lot. We definitely know how to have a good time.
As noted in the above post, we’re an ego-free community. We do not tolerate drama of any kind. We’re looking to have fun while pushing to be the best at what we do.
We also have community members active in many other games, including a guild in WoW (Dragonmaw Vanguard on Emerald Dream).
If our community sounds like something you’re interested in, please visit our website for further information:
