I think much of the hate here, while not unfounded, is misdirected.
Ascended gear is an annoying progression, but is absent in spvp, and wvw already forces you to focus on a main character. Not to say these are good things, but they do not come as a surprise.

However,

…when there has been a lack of updates addressing core pieces of the game, attention to boring, non-essential, content can make the developers seem out of touch.

You know what this MMO was missing? Grinding and Crafting UPDATES!

For many people who have been waiting on cooperative and pvp content, the update releases have been a wash. That being said, I think Anet has done a lovely job with them, disregarding the direction. Almost every update has been rather unique and endearing.

Yet, the game is starting to shallow.

Noting the design of the game, many expected updates relating to: PVP in PVE worlds (dueling ~party vrs party), Dungeon addition and depth, All boss mechanics, Fractals, Guild vrs Guild/Guild Halls, and WvW.

The updates spread the machinery too thin. Sure, the Living story is starting to come together, but the gameplay is not. Why are some LS elements not designed as permanent additions as world bosses, fractals, dungeon paths, and dungeon random encounters.

To continuously delete the vast majority of your content, your work, your art, is a strange strategy to say the least.

This has been some frightening news. Celestial Ascended Trinkets are involved in this nerf? I am denied the otherwise shared option for alternate stats?

These were available well before the armor, and personally, I have them on multiple toons. Due to the terrible RNG that exists in Tyria, the MF stat made the gear rather appealing. Without the MF stat, a mix of Knight’s, Valkyrie, and Berserker’s gear is infinitely more compelling for most builds.

Honestly, nerfing top tier, time gated gear, especially a midst news of more incoming time gated gear, is absolutely baffling.

I understand that replacing MF with any stat or boon would unbalance the set.
However, why are we not given the option to just switch to a different set combination? The guild missions and fractals needed to get these sets were rather daunting. I really can’t afford my time to do this again.

It states that this was simply an oversight due to a lack of time and they will definitely get it in the next “batch”

Yeah, that was awhile ago.
Compared to their content releases since that time, this update should be a non issue.

That leads me to the following conclusions:

A: Anet devs have simply forgotten about this oversight.

OR

B: They think staggering content based on playstyle is a good idea. It is also likely that we will not see the requested stat sets until new ascended equipment is anounced (ie: gloves).

My two favorite characters work best with carrion gear for my specific build. This was tailored, over time and through spvp (using the provided carrion set), to develop balanced but unique characters that were a personal joy to play.
Every ascended upgrade has essentially made my mains weaker, forcing me toward an unwanted play style and unwanted armor changes.

Still hopeful,

But getting a bit bored.

Missing Ascended Stats to continue?

Due to missing ascended stat combinations, I have simply stopped playing a large portion of the content.

On February the 27th (2013/02/27) Linsey Murdock Stated the following in response to inquiries about missing stat combinations:

“It is neither. It just takes time to build these items and there is a huge amount of stuff on our list of things to do. We aren’t done adding stat combos. We will continue to add them as we have time to do so. With this batch, we wanted to even out the spread of primary stats and we already had a lot of stats with Power or Condition Damage as primary (more than any other, in fact), but I’ll be sure to get Valkyrie and Carrion into the next batch.”

Am I out of the loop? What happened to this update? Does it truly take this long to pump out what is essentially a handful of image files?

I understand staggering this content, but holding off on set balances has only caused me to stop playing my favorite characters.

It is an odd choice to limit progression based on what is essentially play style.
(Suggestion: please don’t stagger known balanced sets {traditional combinations found in pvp})
