I just tried this event on three different servers (Aurora Glade – my home, Vabbi and Ruins of Surmia) and it was bugged on every single one.
I don’t have to tell you how annoying this is. This is preventing me from finishing world completion.
I think removing this event and unlocking the cattlepult in a hotfix would be best until the event can be reliably fixed.
Oh well, I guess I’m still better off than the people who can’t get world completion because they’re locked into a certain color in their WvW tier, and have been for months now.
Yet it adds might I think with certain traits…
Nope.
Now the question is :
Is it a bug ? Will it be fix ?
I hope it’s not a bug :/
This will make us really effective, we get a free stun shield and knockback.
You mean give you Shocking Aura and Updraft? It doesn’t. It only resets the cooldown on the attunements themselves. Let’s say you’re in Fire, you switch to Air, do RTL, now you can immediately switch back to Fire.
Very unlikely that this is intended.
Of course it’s a bug. I hope they fix this soon because I’m already getting used to a new rotation that should be impossible :S
Hmm, but it works just fine in SPvP. I’ve been using it all day. It’d be strange if they nerfed it specifically in WvW.
I can’t say that is does work though, seeing as I don’t use it in WvW. Someone will have to verify I guess.
I think I just downed myself with this in WvW. I was gonna get the hell outta a big zerg at very low health, then bam, instant down. I have 30 in Water, so I took a 3K hit.
Priceless
scepter endurance regen in arcana tree, vigor on crit chance, vigor on cantrip use, adventurer runes, sigil of energy
In my tests I found that scepter endurance regen and vigor do not stack. As such, the former is a waste of trait points if you have 100% uptime on vigor. Which is not that hard to achieve with vigor on crit actually. In fact, I can achieve it with my tanky build with just 12% crit chance and 100% uptime on fury (which is also easily achieved with Air I and some boon duration through Arcane or runes).
EDIT: Air I of course works best with Aura-heavy weapons (like D/D).
Sigil of energy does give you an extra dodge every 9 seconds though.
Errr….that burst is insane? I even noticed your Arcane blast was on cooldown in the midst of that damage….wow.
I like my S/D valkyrie burst build…but that looks pretty tempting.
Elementalists have some issues, but viability? We’re doing just fine in sPvP with the right build. Look up the right build and keep playing bro. Eles is fine and incredibly fun to play.
Burning Speed -> Ring of Fire -> Fire Grab is equivalent to 2.5 thief Backstabs. Add Arcane Power, Blast, and Wave into the mix and you can get the equivalent of 5.6 (with base crit multiplier) to 7.5 (with 50% crit multiplier) Backstabs, and in the same amount of time.
Thief high hits come from bonuses to damage output. They get buffs like +10% damage with high initiative, +20% against enemies under 50%, or 5% damage and 7% crit while flanking. However, we can get +10% against burning enemies, +10% while in air or fire, +20% against enemies under 25%, and several guaranteed crits with Arcane Power. So we can match their damage bonuses, and we can pull off our burst faster. Thieves are limited to one Backstab every 4s.
People underestimate the burst a D/D glass cannon can pull off ^^
Not to mention +20% dmg to vulnerable targets while in Water attunement. Which can be used with Churning Earth since you can switch attunements mid-channel.
Just logged in to test RTL and magnetic grasp. They still stun you a lot of the time. Didn’t test if they improved on RTL pathfinding when charging players who change direction.
I’ve heard you no longer get traited bonuses (like fury, swiftness, protection) for auras you gain from combos? Is that true?
EDIT: I’ve just tested it, and indeed you don’t get bonuses from a fire aura you create by leaping through a fire field.

The thing to know about phoenix is that the condition removal is activated when the bloody thing returns to you.
If you cast it at range it can take considerable time for that to happen.
Screenie added. 13,415 hp now. wtf?
Orbs of power have recently been removed from WvW. Your realm likely held multiple orbs the last time you played (you don’t have to be winning to have the orbs). Those gave a whopping 5% HP boost per orb held (among other stat increases). That would put you at 15427 HP if your realm had all 3.
As you can see they were very powerful which is why they were removed. They would usually make a server that was already winning even stronger.
Nah, it`s not down to Orbs.
They were removed before last weeks match & I was at 14.747hp, post this weeks reset I`m at 13,549.
Even with the 5% in theory, I`ve a huge clump of health missing I can`t afford.
Ah, ok. We can throw that theory out then. After the reset, your HP was 13415, now it is 13549 which is exactly 1% more suggesting you now have 1% HP bonus.
But let’s look at your raw health. 13415 HP is 10805 base + 2610 bonus. Unless I’m wrong this would suggest a bonus vitality of 261. Have you tried adding up all the vitality that you should be getting from your gear plus your water trait points? If it comes out more than 261 then that would probably mean there’s a bug (or some of your gear is broken?).

staff W4 clears immobilize/cripple/chill.
Yeah. Wind 4 Staff is surprisingly very good. I didn’t think much of it for battle before but its great when you get immmobilized or crippled. It’s almost always off CD for me in battle too.
+1
If you’re playing staff, this should be your go to spell when your movement is impaired unless you really don’t want to switch to air it’s on cooldown. It will remove any and all movement impairing effects (not counting stuns as those will also prevent you from using most skills) not just roots.
If you’re using a different weapon set then you’ll have to go the condition removal route (unless I’m forgetting some other spell that specifically removes movement impairing effects). Luckily, elementalists can spec into some pretty ridiculous amount of condition removal.

And of course there was the time when I did the whole Clocktower while riding a broomstick, which had a guildy in stitches. He was unable to complete it due to laughing too hard.
Whoa whoa whoa! Are you telling me you can ride the broom stick inside the puzzle instance? I’m totally doing this when I get home
Is there some trick to it though? Or do you just get on your broom stick before you’re teleported inside?
I’m getting the same card approval failure message that many people are experiencing. I’ve had it for a week now. I already made a support ticket. They said they’d be escalating the issue to the appropriate department.
My ticket has since been closed without any further reply. My issue is still the same.
Not even PayPal works. I’ve even transferred money to my PayPal, thinking it was my bank denying the charge. I have the appropriate amount in Euros on my PayPal but it still won’t work.

Thanks for your help!
You are not hearing me… (-_-)
The jumps, are EASY. The only trouble is SEEING YOUR CHARACTER. And times you deliberatly slow down to see your character, you realise a mob of norns are covering your view of the jumps but that doesn’t matter coz the goo already got you coz you slowed down.
I play a short female human and she… isn’t noticable in a mob of norn and charr haha Meh, I will keep trying until I get lucky and there are no big players doing it. I almost did it a few times when for a few minutes when everyone was human/asura. But then norn showed up and I started doing a lot worse.
I’m sorry my post didn’t help you
I have done the tower on all races, including an Asura mesmer. I had no speed boost on that character. So I can fully understand your situation. All through the first 10 jumps I was completely hidden by all these Charr and Norn chars. (But then they start to die off and it gets easier).
You really have to get a feel for when to jump. That’s where muscle memory kicks in. But with muscle memory (any kind of memory really) you have to understand that you can’t train for too long at a time. I wouldn’t advise playing the clock tower for more than 1-2 hours at a time (unless you’ve already mastered it).
Go out, do some Halloween achievements, or if you’ve already completed all of them, then do something else you like to do. It’s important that you also calm down. I know I was ready to destroy my keyboard with the help of my mouse after the first 2 hours of failing at the tower.
But then I slept on it, and the next day immediately at my first try I’ve made it further then ever before, and within 15 minutes I’ve successfully completed it. After that I could already do it at least 1 out of 3 times.
I know my cousin was in the same boat. Couldn’t get past the first cog on the first day of trying, easily completed it the next day.
I know this is not much help, but it’s all I can give really… Please, trust me. You need to give it a rest if you’ve really been doing it for 6 hours. I can only imagine the psychological pain you’re feeling right now
As other people have stated before, if you’re having trouble making some of the jumps, it’s best to look at other people’s videos.
If fact, you can start with mine
http://youtu.be/Wv0PHV3QUZ8
Shameless plug aside, it really does help. Second (or first?) most important thing is to take a break when you start getting worse and worse, or you’re raging so hard that you’re risking your equipment
Good luck, I know you can do it!
P.S. you don’t need to have a passive speed boost like I do in the video. But it does help that you can leave the others behind so they don’t block view of your character. Other than that, you should have no problem keeping up with the green goo.
I believe the armor pieces are completely ordinary exotics that have nothing to do with the Mad King. They’re just called Mad King’s because of the rune in them.
I could be wrong though. I just previewed a few pieces and there was nothing special about them, that’s all.
I feel incredibly stupid for having wasted my money on this.
Definitely not buying from the gem store again.
I opened about 50 chests (spent 4000 gems on keys, there were additional keys in some of the chests). I got nothing out of it.
Please, I’m begging you! Don’t buy chests if you just want the skins! You’re better off buying gold and grabbing the skins from the Trading Post! That’s it if you don’t already have the gold for it.
You’re certainly not the only one, not by a long shot
I can confirm that bonus (3) doesn’t work. My tests have also shown (4) to be either broken, or the tooltip being wrong. It definitely does NOT do what the tooltip says. If it does anything at all, I couldn’t figure out what it is.
I swear there’s a Sylvari somewhere under that mask
