Successful Tequatl Run, Tips and Video

I want this to be a message to all the casuals out there, beating Tequatl is very possible.

My guild and I regularly run Guild Wars 2 content and post walkthroughs for the community. We jumped on board to run the Tequatl fight and recorded a guide for those having trouble.

Our biggest recommendation to those struggling? Give this some time as people are still learning the fight and the mechanics. Additionally, joining a large organised group can definitely help you. Many guilds are posting adds in the forums, in Lions Arch, and even in Sparkfly Fen. With a little information about this encounters mechanics you can easily contribute to larger organized group, or even assist a disorganized overflow to prevail against this beast.

You may not win tonight, tomorrow or the night after that, but a win is possible, and just takes a great deal of team work. As casual gamers we struggled many times, but finally found our groove, as well as a really good group to run with. Good luck to you all, here’s what we learned, we hope it helps.

Hey everyone,

My guild and I have decided to continue our trend of making walkthroughs for the community by taking on the Super Adventure Box!

Thus far we have complete guides for Bauble Collection, Hidden Zones, and Tribulation Modes for Worlds 1 and 2. We are currently working on Master of Baubles for World 2 zone 3 as it is proving more difficult than we thought.

All of our guides can be found in the following playlist, as always we hope you guys find them helpful. Thanks.

Fractals of the Mists Guides

In reply to Colesy:

There are a few things we leave out from time to time so that we don’t pigeon hole newer players into thinking that they require particular builds or classes. Sometimes we mention something would be helpful if you happen to have such a player on your team but we generally try to avoid it. However you have a very valid and good point as it does make that instance much easier.

As far as the bow spam… yea… usually I enjoying using the 1 handed sword and axes a lot more. However the camera angle in melee was a disaster. All you could see were blinding lights from AOE effects and none of the actual fight itself.

My guild and I found that having me stay back, and playing passively made for a better view of whats happening. Basically less blinding light, and less chances for a dead person with the recorder. Personally I miss running into melee with my torch and sword while filming.

Thanks DEKeyz, our guides are mostly for newer players, without worrying to much about builds. We focus more on just the mechanics and try to have fun. However that guide is very thorough indeed. I am personally only at fractals 39 and will definitely check out some of these videos to get that level up a bit higher

Fenix here from “PTN The Part Time Nerd”. Last I posted, my guild and I put up a bunch of walkthroughs for the Queens Gauntlet which a lot of you guys seemed to enjoy.

After those videos we received several requests to take on the Fractals of the Mists, to which we have gladly obliged. We have just posted a playlist of how to get through all 9 of them, including a Teach The Noob clip for those that have no idea what the fractals are and need some help with the basics before going in. We took on each Fractal at a difficulty scale of 28 to give an average gauge of the difficulty.

We hope you find them helpful and they can be found at the following link. Thanks.

Hello again everyone,

My guild decided that this week instead of running dungeons and posting walkthroughs on our YouTube channel that we would take on the Queen’s Jubilee content instead! Here’s the link to our guides:

I hope these videos help those of you that are struggling. We have all the bosses and achievements linked to the gauntlet completed, except for “Liadri the Concealing Dark” and her bonus achievement. We will be trying to get videos of those final two for you guys by tomorrow night!

Devs, please clarify a monetization question.

Fenix.7018

Hello Devs,

In advance I am sorry to bother you with such a matter but I had no idea how else I should ask or where I should turn too. My name is Fenix and I run a new YouTube channel called “PTNThePartTimeNerd”. We make basic walkthroughs Lets Play style for video games without skipping, using specific builds, glitching or bugging. We play games the way they were meant to be played, for fun.

However our small page hakitten a snag. YouTube’s auto flag feature hit our content due to our channels monetized status. Mainly it flagged our Guild Wars 2 videos. I am merely looking for clarification on a forum post made by Gaile Gray at

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Policy-for-posting-videos-on-Youtube-others/first#post182021

specifically this post she made

“Technically, it’s against the current Guild Wars 2 Content Terms of Use for people to make money through such things as monetizing a Guild Wars 2 video. However, we support people sharing their experiences with our game. (Heck, we <3 people doing that!) So while we want to do the right thing and accurately relay what the CToU says — because that’s often the question — we do not take action when fan sites support themselves via ads, and we don’t take action when the creators of fan videos place ads. In other words, we do not flag such videos.”

Could you please take one moment to clarify to me what exactly we can or cannot do to ensure I do not break any policies set by Arena Net as that is not my intention in any way. Thank you.

New Channel Looking for Community Feedback!

in Community Creations

Posted by: Fenix.7018

Fenix.7018

Hello all!

My name’s Fenix and I am one of the founders of a new YouTube channel called “PTNThePartTimeNerd.”

At PTN, we want to create dedicated tutorial and entertainment source for casual gamers. We’re here to shatter the belief that a game requires a specific build, skill set or even a cubic butt-load of time in order to enjoy. It’s a game, not a career.

To start our channel off we are mostly focusing on the PC game Guild Wars 2. We are currently expanding to other games but for now its a heavy focus on GW2. In this game my guild and I often run a variety of content with a wide assortment of players and play styles. We embrace everyone’s own way of enjoying the game but cater more toward casual gamers. We noticed a lot of players (both in our guild, and random players we ran with) would require help with certain dungeon mechanics, or would need a guide to run with them for a complex jumping puzzle, etc. So we decided to start making walkthroughs in order to help them out. From there we got positive feedback from the community saying how we should share these videos, and continue to create them.

In response to this feedback PTN was born! As I stated earlier, in order to set ourselves apart we don’t set a requirement for specific builds/class sets, we don’t skip any creatures or content in our path, and we most definitely do not utilize any bugs or glitches within the game no matter how hard the content is. We’re just here to have fun and show you everything a game has to offer.

We want to hear what the video gaming communities have to say. What do those of you that use walkthroughs look for in such content? What do you like to see? What don’t you like to see?

We appreciate all and any feedback we can get, so leave comments here, leave them on our channel, on our videos, like, dislike, or even check us out on facebook and twitter. Thanks for reading my long winded pitch and I hope to hear from you all soon.

Sincerely

“PTNThePartTimeNerd”

Efficiency or Fun?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Fenix.7018

Fenix.7018

I’m going to agree with a bunch of points that are brought up here.

Both gameplay styles are valid. Both can be considered fun depending on the person and their own preferences. I’m happy playing both ways but am more happy when going through everything possible (pretty much the same as Star Ace, would rather not skip but will if the group wants it). However I highly dislike bugs, nothing was less fun for me than running Honor of the Waves and standing in a wall for the final boss fight.

For the sake of the walkthroughs Soupas quoted us on though, we felt showing and experiencing everything a dungeon has to offer is the best way to do it. This way its up to the viewer to decide on what they do with that information .

Hey guys, just noticed this link about my earlier post that was moved. Thanks for the feedback so far! We don’t show the storyline in our videos, we do skip the cinematics just to ensure the videos don’t run to long, but we do kill all the mobs we come across.

We do of course want to be efficient in our runs, which we do try to show, but at the same time we find that killing every creature in our path to be enjoyable, and the utilization of bugs is not.

Please keep the feedback coming! Ill forward this thread to my guildies that are helping us so we can get more feedback. Thanks

There are many solutions Mithran, and I agree with them all, I just wish for Arena Net to see this post and act on any of the given suggestions. You are completely right that it should or could be locked down for the puzzle.

I have a thief, and I can get MAYBE halfway up before stopped. The problem is that they see you, even if its just for a second between chain cloaks, and once they do they spam the arrow cart ahead of you so that there is no way to progress. It is a valid idea, but still not enough.

That’s exactly the point I’m trying to make Greiger. With the right group, build or skill, you can always deal with a griefer group. But when they get an arrow cart to the top of the dome, there is literally nothing that can be done. Its unfortunate.

No unfortunately not, you use to be able to, but over time people have figured out that “magical sweet spot” on which you can place your arrow cart, giving you full range of the puzzle, but far enough to dodge all forms of pull (trust me I’ve tried with members of my guild in full squads, Thief, Necro, Mesmer, none of the pulls reach).

I disagree Sniku, the puzzle is fun because of the risk involved. I enjoy running the 3 borderlands puzzles as well each day just to see if someone picks a 1 on 1 fight with me. Its an interesting a fun challenge to this puzzle class. I just don’t think siege weapons were considered during the puzzles creation. Due to these weapons, the puzzle each week has been one quick race to the top, then a grief and troll fest afterwards. This removes the “fun” and “challenge” and turns it into pure frustration.

In advance I apologize if this has already been posted as I couldn’t find any existing threads.

So my suggestion is as follows, the WvWvW shared central jumping puzzle is great. Its difficult, its got annoying (but not completely hindering) traps, a dark room, etc. Overall I love the puzzle and the idea of competition within the puzzle, its a brilliant idea and alot of. Risk for reward!

However! Becoming a more common daily trend (this use to only happen maybe once a week, so I would just avoid the puzzle) there is something I disagree with completely and I really wish something would be done about this. I believe within this jumping puzzle siege weapons should be banned.

Having then in the puzzle quite frankly IS game breaking. If one server sits at the top of the dome (arena section) with one or two arrow carts, no one can EVER get up there, its a chain cripple and impossible to deal with.

Some like myself have tried building catapults on the far side in order to destroy them, but then the griefing team just builds a catapult on the domes top which out ranges all of our existing anti grief siege.

I strongly believe this was an overlooked use of the terrain in the first place and just believe siege should be banned from it. I mean if a team still wants to grief by all means they can, but at least with proper forces and a balanced team it can always be dealt with. In this current state once a mesmer gets up there and portals and entire servers group up, they build several arrow carts and catapults therefore leaving the other 2 teams without the puzzle till the weekly reset. This isn’t fun, its just obnoxious.

I say either ban them all together from the puzzle or give us more cloaking wells so a proper force can get up there and deal with the trolls. Anyways its just a suggestion and I do hope this gets looked at as I do enjoy doing that puzzle once a day for nice chest and the challenge (please note I said challenge like a few tussles throughout the puzzle, not trolling like being double arrow carted.)
