Should someone who buys a product have rights to equity assumed by the change of that product’s price later on as sold to others?

This is what this boils down to.
I bought X 3 years ago for $60. The guy who made X now makes addon Y for X for $45. X is now free with the option to add Y for $45 so that the guy who made X can sell Y easier. Should I have rights to the price difference between X and Y because X is now free?

To assume I should is incredibly greedy. I already got 3 years worth of value out of X. That value was bought and paid for. Now I’m paying for addon Y to X so i can get more value out of X. Someone else may get X for free but I still got more value over the time I had X. I got my time out of X. I shouldn’t care about others getting it for free. Now I’m adding Y to X and I’ll get more use out of it. Y’s value is its own.

Well I paid for X and I got what I paid for, you are right with that. X had a good price, because I got good value out of it. Now they are selling Y. I personally doubt that Y has enough content for me to be as valuable as X, so I think the price should be lower. I bought X for 45€ and they want 42€ for Y. For me that is too much, Y has less than X and therefore should be cheaper (my opinion). In the past I paid money for A, B, C, (Guild Wars 1 business modell) but they had similar content and were priced similar. Then D was a smaller upgrade and the price was smaller too, so I bought D too.

Someone who doesn’t have X, now gets X+Y for a good price. X+Y has good content, I can see how it is worth 42€. Y alone however… This it what it boils down to for me. I am not angry at anyone getting X for free or now buying Y. I just wanted to show that things have different value for different people. As an owner of X, I simply think Y is not worth the asking price. The value of Y is lower than the value of X, but they want almost the same money, so I won’t buy Y. For a lower price I would buy Y, but of course I have no right to get a discount.

So now people realizing that theres are broken builds that were okay for them for the whole time cause “they cant cap points”? Its going to be fun reading all that QQ on forum about perma stealth thieves, pu mesmers etc. Cant w8 ^^

Exactly…Whatever your problem that isn’t holding a cap-point…perma-stealth thief has an answer.

Having trouble getting away from pressure, or with mobility…this build is #1 in mobility, and impossible to kill unless the player is braindead.

Having trouble with people running supply endlessly or channeling heros…thieves have spammable interrupts, and can ignore stability with steal.

Having trouble sneaking into opponent’s lord…thieves have stealth for team.

Having trouble breaking down the gate…stealth again.

When cap points don’t matter, perma-stealth + insane mobility + ports that ignore LOS is OP. Shadow rejuvenation may finally get a much-needed nerf after 6 months of dominating and QQ, and WvW players will rejoice!

So why doesn’t Anet just give us more options to “reveal” stealth. Rangers have “Sic ’Em”, why shouldn’t every class have at least 1 skill that reveals? It is an easy fix and still leaves room for stealth. It also enforces choices: Who will take this anti-stealth skill? Which skill do I replace with the anti-stealth skill?

Some skills that could get revealed as another effect:
Warrior: “On my mark!”
Necro: Well of darkness
Ele: Signet of Water (Active)
and so on

Anet could identify skills that are underused and give them this additional effect. —> More build variety and an easy fix for perma-stealth problems that doesn’t totally eliminate stealth builds.

Ascended gear grind is OTT ridiculous

1 – If it were easy, it would be meaningless.

2 – You can’t expect games to meet your every possible expectation and make you relentlessly satisfied every time you play it. If you have a huge number of complaints, you may be playing a game you don’t like. If you only have a few, small complaints, you’re probably just being too critical. It’s a free to play game that has been churning out free DLC and bug fixes for the last 2 years. It has responded to a lot of player complaints, and is continues to have a pretty much democratic relationship with the players.

It’s easy to become irritated by stuff like this because we have been trained to demand instant gratification and perfectly optimized products, despite how unreasonable that expectation is. Just slow down and try to notice what’s good about the game. If you spend your time trying to figure out what they could do better, you’ll never enjoy yourself.

1 – In Guild Wars 1 you had full gear and max level within 1 week (with your second character) or shorter. The people still played the game for cosmetic gear. PvE was populated for years and the challenge was never better gear stats.

2 – I certainly expected that Guild Wars 2 would be in some ways similar to Guild Wars 1. It is far superior in combat, movement, graphics, etc… But when I want to play WvW for example I have to grind this gear because as others pointed out in this thread it makes a difference (they calculated 8%). That was not the case in Guild Wars 1. When I played against other people, I was always able to be as strong as them, without a week-long grind for my gear.

Is a Guild Wars 2 MOBA possible?

Ok maybe some people will say: Not this again! I didn’t want to necro old threads and I think these threads had no real discussion. Also the upcoming update is a great opportunity to bring such things on the table again.

Introduction (skip if you just want the MOBA idea)

I played 5000 hours in Guild Wars 1 and 1500 hours in Guild Wars 2 but I stopped with Guild Wars 2 because I think the PvP is inferior (PvP kept me in Guild Wars 1) and I simply can’t motivate myself to play PvE over and over again. WvW is cool but I personally need the ascended gear, otherwise I am just 8% less effective. Something I think is very annoying, because GW1 didn’t have these issues (in later playthroughs one could easily reach max level and max gear within 2 days; I wasn’t forced to farm events or anything in order to get gear with max stats).

Now I am excited about the expansion and maybe the return of GvG but I fear that the fights will be short without a healer class and therefore not very strategic. I guess we won’t have a ranger-spike in GW2 GvG like we had in GW1. Well I hope I am wrong here.

MOBA

That said, I think a MOBA style gamemode would benefit GW2. And I can’t think of too many reasons against it. Of course it costs time to polish it. But GW2 already has a lot of good features and these are my thoughts why GW2 could become an excellent MOBA. It would just compete with SMITE, so there possibly is a huge market for such a game. And commercial success would benefit everyone.

1) Implementing creeps and towers wouldn’t be a great deal. Maybe stationary NPCs instead of the towers or NPCs with a low aggro range.
2) There is already a progression system. People could progress from level 60 to level 80 in one game. With the experience they unlock weapon skills (they could start with 3) and buy additional skills later on. They also choose traits. With gold drops they buy their equipment. These choices would really matter and the builds wouldn’t be just copy paste because you would have to adapt to the other players. The limitation brings more depth here.
3) Class interaction is already in the game and combat is a real strength of GW2. And it would matter more because the characters would be limited at the beginning of each round.
4) GW2 would offer a different approach: Not many heroes, just a few classes. Stronger focus on the combat because the player is more involved in the action because of the perspective. Lack of heroes would be compensate through the choice of skills you have every game. With the right balance, several skill sets would be viable.

Problems:
1) It takes time to develop such a game within a game. Yes it sounds easy but I think the truth is, it is still hard work.
2) Without good healing abilities it could become too quick, so balancing would be really difficult. I think game times of 20 minutes per match would be ideal.
3) Many people are against it for whatever reason, the acceptance of such a concept maybe low in the player base.

Abaddons vs Millersund vs Underworld

Funny to see Underworld complaining that much. Since Monday we fight 2 vs 1 on Eternal Battlegrounds. When I joined yesterday Miller was attacking Quentin and Underworld on Durios. I played 6 hours (5pm till 11pm) and saw Underworld take 1 tower of Miller and vice versa. That was the one time Underworld and Miller attacked their thirds. Rest of the time you guys attacked Stonemist (which belonged to us after taking it from Miller) or had to defend. You simply don’t fight Miller and they don’t fight you on Eternal Battlegrounds.

In the German forums Miller posted a screen from yesterday morning when AM had 0 points. Strange that Miller respects the border of Underworld (they did not even take 1 single tower from the underworld borderlands or the underworld third in Eternals). And you cry about fighting blobs, we fight 2 servers and are still standing.

Oh by the way, we lost 3 large fights with our random zerg and 1 or 2 of the towers in our third in 6 hours. We withstood the attack of 2 servers and held SM castle. So stop talking about respect if you don’t dare to fight Miller sometimes. You put on some good fights and you are much stronger than expected. You don’t need to team up with Miller to get a good score this week.
