[SPOILER] Story Reward Recipe

Not only do I not know what happened to this item when I clicked it, the text is misleading. It says double-click to acquire the recipe. Recipes are an item. THEY say double-click to CONSUME. I totally expected to get a recipe from the item, not have it be consumed and learned. Though I don’t know if it’s learned as I can’t find it.

I had the exact same problem and proceeded to panic when it vanished. I hope they offer a replacement because I had NO idea that it was going to disappear like that without offering a choice.

you too. i searched all over but still haven’t found it. only thing i found was a ghost wreckage….. creepy

At this point I am believing it is a glitch. I searched the Argent wreck, I searched the nearby wreck, I made an expanding circle search outwards from the point of interest and nothing. I am going to submit it as a ‘progress blocking’ bug report when I can get into the game next.

So I’m not sure what to do now because no one I know can help me.
I’m on tier 3 of the collections for Carcharias and as the title says I can’t find the sunken treasure. The exact words are:
Sunken Pirate Treasure
Hint: Recover the sunken treasure from the Wreck of the Argent Warrior in Sparkfly Fen.
It’s a point of interest and I have been ALL OVER under the water. Is it bugged or am I just very stupid?
I found every other thing for that collection, but this one is eluding me and driving me nuts! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don’t get it….

They’re ambient creatures that people are farming for poly-luminescent trinkets and what ever else, while you’re farming them for weapon master titles…

Why do you have right of way because you’re farming weapon master while they farm for something else? are you royalty? are you someone special we need to know about? what makes you so important that everyone else needs to stop doing what they’re doing to cater for your needs?

I don’t think OP is asking for anyone to cater to his needs. On the contrary, he seems to be leaving the maize balm farmers alone when he encounters them. He just wants to be able to reach HIS goal, too.

You’re quite correct, I don’t even tag the elementals out of respect for the person farming. I just want the right to get what I need to done without someone harassing me for it. When I get those 5000 kills per weapon you’re never going to see me there again unless it’s for Shadow Behemoth and only then for the loot.

The problem comes when I can’t find an alternative place to go, because there are farmers everywhere that there is a concentration of ambient creatures.
I have since found a new spot to farm that requires a lot of set up (thanks again to that kind player Chuck), but the player’s disrespect when I showed them nothing but courtesy is appalling. They didn’t even ask me to stop because they were going to farm, they just insulted me and then tried to stalk me to run me out of the map like a jealous mother hen.

My answer? Too kittening bad for them. They don’t have any more right to maze balm those ambients than you have to kill them for AP, which is what I gathered you meant you were doing.

Also, it’s completely ok to wreck a maze balm farm as long as you’re not just doing it to grief them. ANet has the metrics to see that you’ve been killing ambients for a while and are earning points toward that AP, so again, too bad for those guys. Also, report any of them that harass you, that’s not ok.

Thank you for this reply, it means a lot to know that I’m not being unreasonable.

I don’t care if someone kills Ambients near me, I’ll move. I don’t mind sharing, what I do mind is being harassed, stalked and yelled at for playing the game appropriately.

I just had a really unpleasant event while trying to increase my achievement points today. I’m well aware that people like to farm ambient creatures on Grand Barrier Isle in Bloodtide Coast with Maize Balm, as it’s the largest concentration of ambient creatures. I avoid that place like the plague, and thought, let them have their island.

Well recently I was going to Queensdale where another good portion of ambient creatures is to help get some weapons master achievements. I like running back and forth between Godslost Waypoint and Swamplost Haven Waypoint, and recently took to going to Deathroot Shack where a nice clump of Ambients are…only to find I was not alone. No one was using the Maize Balms before I got there, but you can bet when I started killing things the shrieking started. One person asked why I was killing them, and when I explained politely, I was called something inappropriate repeatedly. I wasn’t too bothered as I wasn’t sure why he/she was insulting me, and have since screenshotted and logged his/her account name. When I moved on from the area, to a larger swath around the shack, I was chased by a different person who tried killing every ambient before I got to it. I have also logged his/her account name.

I went to go back to my path between my two waypoints figuring that I’d just avoid the shack, but there was people with Maize Balm there too! I can’t go anywhere to farm Ambients now because Maize Balm farmers are there!

I understand that if you intentionally wreck a Maize Balm farm that’s not okay, but now they’re spreading around the game and I am having a really hard time enjoying myself when people I can’t even freaking accomplish something without having someone scream at me that I’m wrecking their farm. They’re Ambients for crying out loud, they respawn fast enough and I just want to finish getting my weapons master achievement that I’m so close to finishing without having to run super far to find Ambients to kill.

Has this happened to you? Is there anything we can do about it?

Glitch With Kits and Legendary Effects

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Feral Drifter.6804

Feral Drifter.6804

Hey guys! I’m sure you’ve all seen this thread before, but I was told by a dev to post it here as a sort of reminder!

Summary: Engineers are getting screwed out of legendary weapon effects via a glitch with the weapon kits.

Explanation: I like a few others, love my engineer. I decided to get a legendary to aid with changing builds between WvW, PvE, and because I love the purple glow of the quip and the confetti footprints.
The problem is, any good engineer worth their salt rotates kits. I noticed the issue when I swapped to my first kit:
——-When you use a kit, the legendary aura and footprints vanish——
This to me is a bug, as when you swap to a kit you still get the effects from the sigils on your weapons.

This thread is not meant to sound mad, nor is it a place for people to vent their grievances. I just would like everyone in support of this bug fix to give it the attention it deserves :> Lets bump this to the top with the big bugs and get it fixed for the love of engineers!

Teamchat for PvE

Feral Drifter.6804

Hello all.
I’m not sure if this has been suggested before, but I would like to see a way for us to talk to people on our server in PvE.

When we need help in WvW, calling out to the whole map is a really stupid idea. We have to call what server we are from, and if the people we are fighting hear we need help in our borderlands or EB, they can rally their own people to push us harder.

Therefore, I would like to suggest and request a teamchat /t for our PvE maps. We are so isolated in PvE right now, this would help make servers something special once again.

What do you guys think?

I would love for Anet devs to come to a lower pop server, or even better, watch over my shoulder while I play and see what I see. They should watch the amount of blood I pour for pretty much no results.
I’m tired, and frustrated. I want to play a game that is equal for everyone, not just made for a few.

Okay I am getting a little bit sad with my gaming experience lately.
It seems that with every update we get something that aids the PvE community, but utterly kills the WvW community, or else it unbalances what little stability the game boasted at all.

I’ve made this rant before in a similar manner, located here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/wuv/Population-unbalance-and-Defenders/first#post3078935
I know I’m a nobody, not one dev has stopped by to comment on a thread I worked hard to word and make concise. I know my posts have as much chances of being noted by developing staff as a dolyak has at launching itself into outer space, but pardon me if I thought my value as a player was worth something.

I will start with a question; With the brand new megaservers to hide the lack of people playing, where do we call for help when no one logs into WvW anymore? There’s no server wide announcement system, so if we call out for help, our enemy has a chance to tell their server where to press us. Now we have no way to encourage people to play WvW on their home server, to tell them we’re going on a golem rush that’s going to be a lot of fun, or to tell them a favored commander is running a zerg. Talent doesn’t mean much if you’re one person against 15 people.

To start airing grievances, I wish server transfers had only been allowed once. Just once per account. In every game that has ever hosted world conflict, when has it ever worked out to allow people to transfer as much as they want? Sure it lines your pockets with world transfer money, but at the end of the day it means that someone is going to get unfairly advantaged. Look at the ncsoft game Aion, they have the elyos (light elves) and the asmodians (dark elves) at war. Everyone was allowed to transfer to whatever side and whatever server they wanted. Now everyone playes Elyos, so they locked server transfers and put in the ‘asmodian initiative’ giving the underpopulated players rare items in hopes of attracting more players to that side. It didn’t work, of course the players won’t play the underpopulated side because everyone is on the other side, and stepping into the pvp area means suicide.

In my opinion, people go to server transfers to win without having to work for it. So naturally, they beat their chests and roar when they squish the five (or one) people their 25 man zerg runs across as though they have talent. Way to go, you won a fight that was one sided to begin with.

Anet: Let me give you some insight into what it’s currently like to play WvW on an underpopulated WvW server.
I play for an average of 5-8 hours a day. I am so dedicated to helping my server have a chance, I run back and forth with the workers for hours straight just giving them speed boosts as they upgrade. I stand on walls and wait to see if someone attacks, sacrificing loot. I try to solo camps that have flipped different colours. I know people who do much more than that, but it doesn’t mean a thing at the end of the day. Why? Here’s why.
When you have 10 people in EB on average, and 5 on your borderland on average, how are you supposed to hold back a 40 man zerg with no backup? There isn’t enough siege in the world, enough rushes and they’ll take whatever they want.
So essentially, I’m wasting my time trying to help my server. I’m wasting time, money, and sanity when you continue to ignore the grievances of servers who got screwed because of server transfers and unfair balancing systems.

Here’s why I think nothing will be done about server population unbalance:
With the recent implementation of the megaserver, PvE has never been easier. So why go into WvW where your server is getting your butt kicked when you can just frolic around with random people farming. I think Anet, that you are secretly hoping we give up trying to fight and just transfer so you can start shutting down under populated servers to hide the fact that a lot of the ‘joiners’ have moved on from the game.

It’s depressing, and frustrating. There are 3 things keeping me playing to date:
1) My friends.
2) The NPC dialogue.
3) The combat/interface system.

Sorry if this sounded like an all negative rant. There are some things I really like about the new megaservers, but on the whole it killed my chances at helping in WvW and all the hard work I’ve done or will do in WvW to this point. So thanks.

I haven’t seen a Dev get on here and tell us that getting 2v1’d using cross server communication is legitimate, fine, and a healthy expression of what they wish to convey with their WvWvW system.

They never said it wasn’t either.

Exactly, not all of the responses have been people defending such events that are against what Anet intended.

There have been suggestions, and agreements to the original poster.

Why?..given there situation sounds good strategy.

Its 3 teams directly or indirectly one server will be picked on.

That they have possibly formalised this is not a reason to penalise.

Well while picking on one server is a common tactic, much like a starving dog setting on a bleeding steak, the following well coordinated tactic is as far removed from ‘picking on the little guy’ as me being able to sprout wings and fly. (If I could do that, I’d smack these coordinating louts upside their collective noggins.)

Here is something I witnessed: GoM goes to attack Bay, they pull off when a few die. DR then surges down from waiting on the cliff and attacks, when a few die, THEY pull off. Then GoM surges forward again after stacking and recovering.

This is not picking on the little guy, this is well coordinated maneuvers between teams. Much like rifle line tactics of old, front line fires, kneels and reloads, then the back line advances, fires, kneels and reloads. This is NOT a legitimate tactic between two warring servers.

Its a stategy not a tactic …volley fire as you said is a tactic ..and equally sure many africans thought volley fire was unfair ruining the fight etc etc.

The question is though why is it not legitimate ?….one side clearly wil not enjoy the other 2 must or it would soon breakdown .

To quote Churchill “If Hitler invaded hell I would make at least a favourable reference to the devil”…

or even keep your friends close your enemies closer .Its not invalid because 1 side doesnt like it .

The nature of WvW is inherently unfair thats the fun of it when you are up or down ..these attempts to care bear WvW rebalancing PPT dezerging ideas etc etc etc are taking the fun out of it ..and this is just another care bear approach .

Again why is “This is NOT a legitimate tactic between THREE warring servers…..”????

(dd change your 2 to 3 )

Simple, no one likes to be double teamed, and I get that it can come across as ‘care bearing’ when they really can’t do anything about server spies. However, it really isn’t valid, and regrettably you have provided no evidence that anet is ‘care bearing’ by trying to balance the game.

The point of the game is that there would be no communications between teams. This leads to distrust and often iron handed control of one’s perceived ‘property’, with others lashing out at whoever dares trespass on their land.

This is the way it should be, but when one team goes after two split sides of a map, and only picks on the one server rather than the other, tell me where the balance is in that?
This is NOT a REAL WAR. This is a game, this is a game that Anet is working hard to keep balanced for all ages. They did not design it for desperate people to cheat just to pump their egos.

I’m not sure what side you’re on, DR, GoM, or neither, but you speak like someone who is confidently on the giving end rather than the receiving end of a beating, naturally that can alter ones perspective on a subject. “I don’t care because it’s not happening to me”.

To quote a friend: “Get on my level.”

Easy to say that when you’re the one employing desperate tactics. You want to have a war? Follow the server guidelines: NO COMMUNICATIONS WITH THE OTHER TEAM.

[BC] + friends from Kain, if you guys want to play for second, we are all for that on dh, you have our support. but you should hit FC bl and thier eb stuff, not our stuff.

We don’t take orders from outsiders. Take your conniving schemes to Ferguson.

Maybe DH and FC have different opinion than us. We will not work with the enemy in exchange for securing a meaningless 2nd place. If you want to focus Kaineng, bring it on. You can “support” Ferguson, we still don’t care.

Okay, that was a little rude. I believe you should accept another interpretation of this post.
I don’t know about the rest of Darkhaven, but I know a few of us view alliances as spoiling the point of it. I believe what you should interpret that as, as we cheer your gumption and drive, and believe if you fight hard you can make it to second perhaps. Not guaranteed, just perhaps.

This does not mean we want to ally or work with you, I will still do my best to squish anything that is an enemy trying to muss with my stuff, but it does mean sometimes we cheer when we see FC going green because you finally mustered the strength to charge into it. As stated earlier in this thread, you guys have been struggling aside from the really random, but small guild havoc group. At least as far as enemy borders are concerned.

I can’t speak for Assassin X, but I’ve been heard to go “Aw come on [Enemy Server], leave my camps alone!” Maybe this is advice from him to dominate the second place server to secure at least second for yourselves. It is possible, but I don’t know.

Other than that, cheers to those who have been good sports about it, I would love to see a lot less /laugh and /sit and rapid /cry emotes over dead bodies. I find it disrespectful myself. Now /bow and /salute and hopping up and down on the body as though to make sure it’s really dead, that makes me laugh. :P

Population unbalance and Defenders

Posted by: Feral Drifter.6804

Feral Drifter.6804

This is going to be a bit of a rant, and I apologize in advance, but I am simply fed up.

I am tired of getting on WvW and fighting as hard as I can, wasting gold only to lose to a server with poor tactics, and the only reason we lose is because they have 5 times the number of players. I remember a dev speaking on one news post about how some zergs made him want to turtle up in his keep and cry, promising a fix to that unbalance, but that is another empty promise.

They want balance to this game? I am skeptical but hopeful they can fix things. This game is going to go the way of Aion if they keep it up.

Some examples:

I think a great solution to this ‘five million people at once’ would be to introduce a different kind of cap. Example, two groups are clashing, one holds 30 people (We’ll call them AA), the other holds 10 (We’ll call them BB). The AA group gets a ‘zerg’ debuff, giving the group of 10 a fighting chance to hold their turf that they’ve spent the last 5 hours guarding tooth and nail. However, what is that over there? Motion? about 5 more of the BB get into fighting range, evening it to 15 vs 30, the debuff wears off a bit and the chances get more interesting.

Yeah it needs polish and is likely a pipe dream, but if you don’t want your casual players to quit playing your game all together, you need to remember some things. Making everyone hop servers faster than a person with ADHD playing musical chairs is an idea that yes, generates revenue, but if you want sustained revenue you need to invent ideas that don’t cater only to the people who have chosen not to pursue any extra curricular activities.

Pretty soon, the casual players who haven’t jumped servers or can’t afford to will be on a server at the bottom of the totem pole with a very low population of wvw players.
They will log on to do some daily or maybe monthly achievements, and find out that they get rick rolled at every turn on their own borderland simply because there are superior numbers rather than skill.

Another thing that is sorely lacking is defense rewards. I understand that this is a difficult concept, as rampant bots could abuse this, but why not give rewards for staying inside keeps and towers? Example, Someone patrols walls, clicks on the walls and doors to make sure they are okay, and refreshes siege, and upgrades should have a chance to get something back for their generous spirit.

How about a category for ‘upgrades’ where you can get some gold back?
What about introducing a patrolling NPC that people have to interact with regularly while walking below the walls? Here’s an idea for that NPC to prevent bots: Make it have an AoE, a small ring you have to stay in to make him/her move, and the longer you stay in there, you will get a sliver of rewards every now and then. Give the NPC an erratic path to discourage bots.

Again, it needs polish but it’s better than what we have right now, or so I think, because there is 0 reason to stay and defend when all it does is make someone hemorrhage gold on upgrades, and give up potential rewards from running around and flipping things. As a closing note, what happened to Karma on Dolyaks?! I would run so many more of those furry things to their destination for a better reward than ‘congrats you stuck beside a smelly pseudo buffalo for over 3 minutes!’ We don’t even get confetti!

These are just ideas I came up with in under an hour, they are far from perfect and yes, I have no formal training with video games. However as a player, I think these opinions are valid and hold onto the hope that once again I can enjoy playing /all/ aspects of the game.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Feral Drifter

Okay Anet. I’m sure you’ve had it up to here raises hand to eyelevel with consumer complaints regarding legendaries. There are many extensive and exhausting threads on this matter.

However, I’m not complaining about the legendary itself. I’ve worked hard to get my 3/4 pieces and the grind was so very worth it. I’ll do it again gladly!

My complaint is with the precursor acquisition. My God in heaven. This needs to be fixed. The balance is non existent, and it’s upsetting to me. Here’s why:

I read map chat in LA about how people get precursors with 4 exotics on their first shot who already have legendary weapons. Plural. Fine, lucky. I’m jelly but I’m down with that.
My good friend got a precursor with 8 exotics, it was her second try when she got her precursor. Again, fair enough, I was jelly but I understood it’s luck.

I’m still trying for my hammer. I have bought over 1000 rare hammers and mixed them with NO success. I’ve got 122 screen caps of my black lion trading post purchases of hammers. I have counted them in front of friends. I have purchased-never mind found, bought with dungeon tokens or received from mixing,-those 1000 hammers. In Japan, the number 1000 is lucky, associated with granting a special wish upon obtaining the 1000th item. If only that applied in this case.

Now, I am a firm believer in a difference between luck and curses. I think I have been preCURSEored. Why am I so unlucky? Do you not like me anet? I live in Canada, I swear I was not the one who swapped the coffee sugar for salt. (Not sure if that ever happened but I am trying to keep a light tone to this thread).

In summary, please fix this before I lose my mind and go insane. I already dream of mixing hammers in my sleep =_=

Valour is a casual guild that loves all game content, as well as just sitting together and talking about various topics, from philosophical to delightfully geeky. There is no mandatory participation requirement, and you don’t need to be logged on at all times of the day either. We are looking for friendly, humourous people who enjoy having fun and are willing to cooperate with other members of the guild when needed.

Prerequisites: NA servers only, preferably Darkhaven. Any levels/races/classes accepted! New players and veterans welcome! Having multiple guilds is permitted, however we would like you to actively rep our guild as much as possible. Temporarily un-repping for events in other guilds is acceptable.

Rules: Keep swearing minimal, and conversations as clean as possible. Please do not troll maliciously or intentionally provoke other players. If you have a problem with another member, please whisper the guild heads or generals in order to work it out. We expect all members to be mature and respectful, and to behave in the manner in which they wish to be treated.

Our Promise: We promise to always be as casual and fun loving as we can be. We promise to be as accommodating as we can, and to assist to the best of our abilities if you need help. We love lending a hand to our fellow guild mates and try to keep assorted items and funds stocked in the guild bank for starting and mid-level characters. We have guild bounty training missions that we queue regularly, and we always try to keep influence and magic find buffs going constantly for your benefit.

If the above sounds reasonable, please whisper or send a mail to Feral Drifter.6804, cougarmadcat.9140 or Eirine.6472, and one of us will invite you to the guild!

Seriously, I had no idea that you could make endless toy tonics based on the frame and other goods. I was so happy I almost literally clapped my hands with glee to find out I could still make them. I bought supplies and went to get a Ventari frame…only to find out that the ugly gift exchanger was no longer selling the frames.

When and why did this happen??

Mounts

I agree, no mounts. If Arenanet had wanted mounts in their game, they would have implemented them in the years they had working with the first Guild Wars.

Plus, do you see /any/ mounted NPC’s? Name one. All of them walk beside their carts, because they need to protect them and being mounted is a disadvantage.

Ascalonian Catacombs Armour Should Glow

I really really think this is a great idea in every way possible. The weapons glow at night, why shouldn’t the armour too?

I love Ascalon, I love the history, but that’s the only reason I wear that armour style. It’s so plain otherwise, so unimpressive.

I mean plain as in look at all the other dungeon armours. They’re either fashionably elaborate and beautiful, or they’re on fire for kittens sake! There’s so much fire on the Citadel of Flames armour and look how popular that dungeon is!

I was so disappointed to learn that the Ascalonian Catacombs armour didn’t glow. And hey, Arenanet, if you didn’t want people to look strange, make it a prerequisite to have the WHOLE SET equipped before you glow at night!

Words can’t describe how epic it would be for cracks to appear in the armour, for ghostly hidden marks to appear, and for the blue mist to start rolling from the adventurer’s form as day turns to night.

Again, so it is with weapons, why the heck not with armour?

(P.S. Yes I spelt armour right, I’m Canadian. )

Should have been a Norn

An artist can find the beauty of the season an enhancement to their gift giving. Frost swirls and streaks in sharp patterns on windows, snow glistens like a glitter kissed sheet outside, breath steams and snow drifts. Why not chose winter to share his gift? He can’t share his presents with kids on their birthdays, he has no idea when those are.

What Tixx definitely is not, is a replacement of Santa Claus. He’s a toy inventor, unparalleled, who loves sharing his gift in winter, a season that is so cold it requires joy to warm the hearts as well as a mug of hot tea.

St.Nicholas would give away gifts in the worst time of year to those who needed it right? Who says Tixx is doing anything else? :P

Though I’d love to see tributes from the other races as a cultural nod to Tixx.

T6 mats are indeed incredibly painful. However: I noticed a tendency of creatures like risen spiders and reef riders dropping the T6 venom sacs. I’m trying to find and track this pattern, but of course it’s hard to pin down.

Heh, lets not also get started on globs of ectoplasm…oh god. sells kidney on black market

Anti-hero:
Pros: Endurance, with balanced evasion and power; They can take a hit, and remain on their toes while dealing out modest damage. They can make sure the enemy stays plenty mad at them, but can’t put down their allies on their watch.
Cons: They can’t really do anything at all without a party, soloing becomes an interesting and long fight.

Murderers:
Pros: Condition damage and high strength; They can cut you so deep your grand kids will feel it.
Cons: They can’t do any lasting damage and they can’t get away. You pray that someone else finishes off your pray for you, cause otherwise they’ll be up the creek with no paddle.

I know where you are going and not going to argue against it at all.

just a side note for the two above.

These won’t happen. they go against you have to be a hero philosophy they want to keep. The dragon are the bad guys. Ree did an article if you want to read it just ask and I will get you the link

I was just giving names to the builds cause I was running out lmao. xD

I wasn’t meaning them as separate classes, but examples of play style and stat focuses. there are hundreds of combinations.

Since you mention mobs and soloing veterans etc, ill assume you are talking about PvE.

I dont really see a problem, i’m more or less an einzelgänger when it comes to regular PvE so ive solo’d everything (except dungeonruns etc ofcourse) on my thief without too much problems. Yes, sometimes i have to run away.. but then again i have to do that on my ranger, warrior, mesmer, guardian, ele, necro and engineer aswell.

Oh I’ve solo’d everything too on my thief with the right build, but with the changes they are making, I’m just saying I’m concerned that they’re going to start catering to a small group and rail-roading us into specific builds is all.

I am getting frustrated. It seems like Anet is listening to the Q_Q and not the.
Seriously, I was attracted to this game for it’s versatility, for the thousands of ways you could play the class.

I didn’t have to be railroaded into a class ‘type’ of which there were only two. You could play a thief that was tough as nails and just as strong. You can play a freaking melee elementalist, a class that usually demands distance for crying out loud. The possibilities seemed endless, but now I’m starting to see they’re trying to take away that bottomless pot of golden joy either because they’re getting nervous or people who are whining are beginning to take the place of the real loyal customers.

This started with mesmers, and now it’s branching out to thieves. You can’t just take away a skill that you ADVERTISED at the beginning of the game. Yes the video was replaced, but holy crap what are you doing? Thieves don’t have much going for them on the offence, stop taking away what they have left!

What I liked was that I didn’t have to play a thief that had to run away all the time. I could put on some decent armour and stats, wade in and either take someone with me, make a lot of people hurt, finish off a small mob alone, take out a veteran or die trying any one of those. I don’t like this stupidity of being forced slowly into the ‘stab-and-run’ technique niche. I will not be bullied into a role that doesn’t suit my play style, or my freaking character style. That is what you advertise isn’t it Anet? This is MY story, and what good is my story when my character can’t even be them self? I’m afraid you’re going to ruin the good thing you have going for you.

To the players who whined about thieves being broken if there were any: First mesmers now this? You’re not going to be happy until everyone is dumbed down below you aren’t you? Go play Neopets, this is a real video game that shouldn’t have to listen to your asinine whining. Either adapt to the game and the techniques or stop playing.

My suggestion is here: Stop trying to limit your players. If something seems OP, open up a debate thread. Let the players hash it out. Don’t screw everyone by making a choice that limits so many people. Or better yet: let the PLAYER chose if they want that skill or not. If they want more evasion than damage they’ll TAKE IT.

Here are some example of thieves that don’t fit the two stupid ‘niches’ (Of either squishy but nimble, or high attack but they’re easily pinned down)

Assassins:
Pros: Power and stealth; get in, stab someone to ribbons, get out.
Cons: Pin them down and they’re a turkey on thanksgiving.

Rogues:
Pros: Power and endurance; like the energizer bunny from hell they can dish it out and take it.
Cons: Given conditions and AoE, they can’t really get away. Stack that and they’re toast.

Ninjas:
Pros: Agility and evasion; they bend like a reed and float like a leaf on the wind. They’re the annoying little troll that is on the edge of your range but keeps chipping at your health.
Cons: They can’t really do much damage, can’t take too many hits, and they’re annoying.

Thieves:
Pros: Condition damage and evasion; They can get in, poke you full of conditions and get out again.
Cons: They don’t have much power to hit hard, and if enemies have an ability to eat condition damage or shrug it off they are going to be in trouble.

See? Anyone can get around different class builds, or think up more. It’s called imagination, something some players sorely lack. They’re in a world where people bled their imagination for us, sweated and struggled for YEARS and all they see is that they can’t play the game and want it dumbed down to a point and click game where there is one superior build that everyone uses and everything is the same. That’s how games END. Please don’t take away my enjoyment of this game Anet, this is the first MMO I’ve enjoyed this much.

Sincerely,
A concerned admirer of your work

I can’t confirm this since I can’t log in at work, but I believe they CHANGED the achievement to ‘Legendary Collector’ since the Lost Shores patch, which means you have to make one of each. I think they did this due to the fact that some people were getting their legendary’s way too fast.

If someone could log in and confirm what the actual achievement says now that would be great.
