Sounds like your using the /team channel. You can change to quite a few other channels like:

/map – to chat globally in the zone (Queensdale) you are in.
/say – to chat locally to nearby people.
/yell – travels a little bit further than /say.
/guild – to chat in your guild channel.
/party – to chat to only your party members.

Most of these can be used by their first letter, like ‘/m hey’ would post [map]hey.

I find alot of NPC’s actually run towards you, trying to get your attention. Many events start this way.

“Help me! I’ ve Fallen down this hole! Can some one help me?”
Crazy kid…. got stuck right next to 2 ore nodes and at the end of a nasty, monster-filled tunnel. Won’t move till “that monsters gone”.

Or….

“Help! They’ve taken my sister captive!”

I actually figured out there are ALOT of talkative npc’s. They are the ones that don’t say ‘Greet’. There are keys that drop or are found on the ground to open doors and turn off barriers. NPC’s tell you alot of this stuff. Oola’s Laboratory is an example in Metrica Province. Heck, they even make the first door a skill challenge. The second one needs a key.

I like the idea someone else floated. Hearts are considered ‘waypoints’ to your goals. They are level indicators to the rewards and monsters nearby. They aren’t your goals. It’s the story being told along the way in camps and towns. By scouts and travelers. These get you to the area. Dynamic events along the way are part of the stories.

And the storyline usually goes to areas ahead of you anyway that are directly related to your story. Sieges, special places, whatever. You are all going to find out about Zhaitan. Welcome to Orr.

Caltrops is not a waste. Great kiting tool. Wonderful. Fast cooldown. 50% speed reduction. What’s not good about it?

OP: One of my early storylines required me to kill 5 at once. I used a shortbow with strafing. Takes forever to kite 5 mobs. Get ’em pretty low and switch to melee ( I use sword/pistol, most say dagger/dagger ) and take one or three out. All of my attacks hit 3 mobs, not just Auto-Attack. Three swings and three dead mobs. Pop a stealth skill and finish whats left.

I’m 74 now, and I haven’t played for 4 of the (whatever number from headstart) days. I played with pistol/pistol in the BWE’s first. Dagger/dagger next. Found the sword/pistol combos and I like it’s utility. Yea sure… 1/2 second stuns are dumb. But I’m specced for side and back attacks. Pistol Whip works for me. And I found out the auto-attack for the sword is actually 3 different attacks with the third 2x damage.

Just gotta remember ranged thieves plink. Melee face-melt. Kiters can’t be touched. Face-melters get melted if you can match the dps. Use your ranged when your overwhelmed and switch to melee to finish off. Sword/Pistol gives you a shadow-step to target to Pistol Whip ’em then shadow step back and your ranged should be near cooldown to switch back to kiting.

Solo champions. 30min battle…. not a scratch on me. Veterans are a 30s fight. Well… some are minute with their dam abilities. 2mins with adds.

So corny but, lrn2play. No insult intended. Serious.

I love just wandering around and finding events. Either to start one or finish, I love to find them all.

The chained events that lead to world bosses rock.

Next thing I know, I have all the hearts filled, and pretty much all the POI’s. And since you get some pretty good xp, coin, and items for zone completion… might as well.

Then I found some pretty cool mario puzzles that didn’t require Super-Mario-Like abilities.. I got some good xp and .. well usually junk in the chest.. but the achievements are good enough.

My friend keeps trying to play this game like WoW, WAR, LotRO.. you name it… he MUST go to the next zone when he “levels over” the zone he’s in. He MUST do his storyline…

He’s 18, and I’m 75. My storyline’s at 64… Go figure.

I actually revived a player to 99%.

I couldn’t bring myself to actually finish tho….

His name was Buttmuncher. I JUST COULDN’T DO IT!!!!!!!!

But seriously, I revive in the middle of combat, running around exploring, and anywhere I see a V on the map. Of course, alot of the time they port to a waypoint JUST as I get close. So annoying.
