Toss in some dynamic weather and you’re golden. There’s a QoL addition I’d love to see.

Lighting and Weather

I would love to see lighting and dynamic weather in some future quality of life patch. Seasons might be taking that a bit too far, but I definitely see the other stuff as doable if the devs ever have the spare time and resources. Seeing rain in Divinity’s Reach would boost the atmosphere and immersion by 200%!

The narrators

Note that the words used were “any particular character we would recognize.”

It was never explicitly stated that this couldn’t be an in-game character we simply haven’t heard of yet. Plus I see literally no other explanation why this recurring narrator would keep using that floaty, occasionally threatening voice with bizarre reverb to rally us to get pumped unless it was to stay in-character.

…Then again, Trahearne’s speeches were also…interestingly delivered…

Claw Island against Scarlet?

Uh, I assume you’re referring to Chlore Island?

If there was ever anything keeping me from reaching through the screen and strangling ol’ T-bone, it was all the times he said “Clawr island.” And I love it.

Here are the tabs for “The Tengu Wall.” I prefer to play the song on the highest octave for the best effect. These are the basic notes, but feel free to embellish it with whatever you like!

24568 – 6565442 – 2465 – 654212

I’ve also included a link to a brief video of what it sounds like in-game, hope you enjoy!

Ahhh the forums. I can always count on its ever-positive comments to brighten up my day. To answer the OP’s question, I’d say Scarlet may or may not survive this next encounter. If she does, we’ll kill her in a new zone next patch. If she does, we’ll see the creature behind her madness, and the last patch will set the stage for Season 2.

Food for Thought: The Trailer Narrator(s)?

in Lore

Firearm.6904

It’s possible that many of you have heard this before, and as of right now, I see no direct answer coming to us in the foreseeable future, but here’s some food for thought:

Many of the past trailers have included a woman’s voice as the narrator, filtered to give it an either ‘ethereal’ or ‘otherworldly’ quality.

If we go all the way back to the good ol’ days of Guild Wars Prophecies, some of you may recall that there was also a curiously voiced narrator throughout that campaign that was eventually revealed to be Glint.

I’m not saying that this new voice is Glint, but I find it odd that the voice directors would go that extra mile to make a narrator sound vaguely creepy when an unfiltered voice would do the job just as well.

Lastly, yes, I remember the devs saying during the Origins of Madness that the ominous narrator was meant to be a “cool voice,” buuuuuuuut…that could also be a lie, so…thoughts? Who could this mysterious voice with knowledge of all events be?
———————————————————————————————————————————————————————
tl;dr – The narrator’s voice has a filter on it. Why? Could it be a yet-unseen character?

I’m definitely feeling good about this one. LA is just weeks away from getting nuked, and there is absolutely NO way that ArenaNet can pretend “they didn’t hear it” from behind their wall. I mean have you seen the size of the Marionette? That booty’s definitely gonna cause shockwaves.

As was mentioned, I wouldn’t expect them to become instantly playable, but having them open their gates for the refugees of Lion’s Arch is the perfect way of finally bringing them into the story.

Scarlet's Mysterious Token?

I might be mistaken, but I think that’s the “Josh Foreman” coin. He has a habit of leaving that coin hidden in any area or JP he’s made, as a sort of author signature. And yes, Josh was the one who made Scarlet’s Secret Lair.

Confirmed by the wiki. Thanks Zaxares!

Scarlet's Mysterious Token?

in Living World

Posted by: Firearm.6904

Firearm.6904

So by now I think it’d be safe to say that many of us have ventured into Scarlet’s Secret Lair to unlock the secrets of her journal and view the other cryptic schematics and drawings that litter the cave.

However, after my most recent attempt at fighting the Twisted Marionette, I came upon something I had never seen before in the Lair. To the left of the Clockwork chest there’s a ramp-like rock structure that collides with the wall and another boulder right behind the suspended cages.

While jumping around the cave out of boredom, something caught my eye: I found what appeared to be a coin or token lying in between the rocks I just mentioned. It has a symbol that I don’t think we’ve ever seen before, and I don’t think it’s an accident that the developers hid it in such a tucked-away area of her lair.

So what do you all think? Am I crazy for making such a big deal out of a small coin, or are the devs hiding a very specific hint for people with keen eyes? I have no idea if the symbol has appeared in past GW lore, so if I’m overlooking something, please chime up!

Thoughts? She’s awesome – She’s promising Asura Progeny personified.

Anet – props for making that adorable little ball of snark.

One can only hope she doesn’t become the “Snarf” of the team. Still, so far so good!

Am I the only one who likes this patch?

in The Origins of Madness

Posted by: Firearm.6904

Firearm.6904

No, you are not the only one that enjoyed this patch. The story had some of the best writing and exposition to date, they’ve added more permanent content (something many people seem to glance over,) and perhaps most importantly, it’s DAY ONE of the release. If they make content that you can beat in a day, people will complain. If they make content that is difficult and takes coordination, people will also complain. We have two weeks to either attempt or beat the marionette, and then we move on. I am okay with this.

As countless others have stated, Anet will never be able to release anything that doesn’t receive complaints.

The Secret behind the Mini-Queen(s)

in Clockwork Chaos

Firearm.6904

They can’t kill the Queen because of the personal story.

People keep saying that, but why would that stop them from killing the Queen anyway?

Exactly. It’s Anet’s game so they can do whatever the hell they want. For all we know they’re lying about the whole thing and we’ll get playable tengu.

The Minis are going to be a way to remember the queen cause I think she’s actually gonna get killed.

Either killed or kidnapped, but I agree. Why give us a mini of a character that’s only just getting some spotlight? That is, unless it’s the only thing we’ll have left of her. Otherwise we may have just gotten Mini Trahearne. Anyone agree?

When I watched the livestream for the Queen’s Jubilee, the Gauntlet was made with an increasing difficulty spike in mind. The devs spoke at length about how they want to introduce content that is supposed to represent prestige to the playerbase. They knew not everyone would beat it, and personally, I’m fine with that. Despite it’s “everyone wins” mentality, a sliver of competitiveness is necessary to make an MMO like GW2 successful.

I’m not saying that the fight couldn’t use some more visible AOE circles, but it’s definitely not impossible. Consider it the extremely difficult final boss of an old NES game. Realize that some will win, and some will lose, regardless of time spent.
