We owned you underwater next to the kraits in the most useless place on the map l2p noob
This is exactly what I love to do. I go South, deeep South, past the windmill and wait for noobs to pass by looking for a vista or skill point – then WHAM!! Yeah!!! That’s me dancin!!
Sometimes I’ve waited for 5 or 6 hours, but I’m a hunter. That’s what I do …
Then I get to brag in ts for at least 15 minutes. I never get much response, but who cares? Right?

As a burst thief, my enemies are controls. Stuns, immobilize, knock-downs, pulls. Any of these at the wrong time and I have used my initiative and am pretty much done for. I have fought several opponents that use these well and kill me.
Again, sometimes I win vs an experienced player, sometimes I don’t. Just from my perspective, it seems about even.

Just a little background – I have played thief since headstart and have mostly been burst, but dabbled in stealth/venoms. So I’m mostly d/d and shortbow.
Here is how I counter a stealth/condition thief.
With d/d, I spam Tab to target and as soon as he is visible, #2 to leap to him and auto-attack or CnD, dodge, spam Tab again when he goes invis. Always keep moving.
With sb, I cluster-bomb every couple seconds in area. Maybe a poison, and auto-attack anything in the area including NPC’s since arrow bounces even to an invisible enemy. Always keep moving.
I will use the invis heal utility and shadow refuge to stealth when I can to try to get a free attack on him.
MOST of the time, I down the other thief. Sometimes I don’t. I am not a super-skilled player, just use the skills I know how to.
I don’t know what to tell you to do to beat it with another class since I don’t play other classes much. But this build CAN be beat and is beaten 1 vs 1 all the time.
Anyway, that is what I do and maybe it will help. Good luck.

Farewell to BP, indeed!
I remember when you were the underdog and we (AR) considered you a nuisance. Tough, but not the main fight. You were my enemy because you invaded our borders and could not hold your own.
Now you roll the map. You are my enemy because you take more than you deserve! You will always be a rival to me.
I remember good, tough, long fights. Hard fought battles. Resolve.
Good luck in your next match and maybe we will meet again.

I like the plain style and electric effect of the Mystic Spike.

Forums can – and this forum does – get out of hand. And to see screenshots like the above posted is disheartening to the AR community who plays and fights hard and fair.
I think it is necessary to hear from AR participants especially alliance leaders. What actually happened? Exploit or tactic?

I guess having “rare” stats makes the armor at least usable instead of having no stats at all like guild armor.
In my opinion, the worst thing is once “skinning” your set of armor, you are stuck. Unless you destroy the armor or the skin, you cannot change your look.
Why not have a “skins” storage location separate from your worn inventory? You could change armor all you want and have any skin in your storage actually appear on your character.
Incentive to have more skins. No destruction.

All I read was “Best profession blah, blah, blah glass cannon blah, blah” and thought “THIEF” ftw!

I am so sad (wiping daggers clean of BP blood).

I disagree. I can solo a camp by pulling only one at a time, but it takes a while. If defenders do not respond in 1 min, they probably won’t respond at all. I do not see the benefit of making it impossible for 1 person to cap a camp.
Anvil Rock
Problem: Changing the looks of armor more than once requires that something be destroyed. Changing to a different armor to try different specs means you loose the look you worked for.
Solution: Clothes Closet – Any armor found or bought that is a “skin”, can be placed in the clothes closet. The look from anything in the clothes closet can be attributed to anything you are wearing.
This would completely separate “skins” from statted armor and wouldn’t require the destruction of either on a change. Putting the armor in the clothes closet could still require a stone if so desired. (This is not an original idea btw.)

Just another hint. If you want a small group fight or 1 vs 1. Get in a safe spot and check your map for the Yaks. You will almost invariably see one leave camp, then disappear before it reaches its destination.
Yak-killer indicator. Watching yaks and sentries disappear will definitely lead you to fights. Oh yeah!

Hysterical lesson for the new recruits tonight. Been having trouble keeping our enthusiastic, but uneducated, BPers from chasing into spawn points, so Commander Dtc Justice had us form up and charge. Some folk gotta learn by doing, and some Commanders are willing to go the distance…
30 BP soldiers entertained a very confused AR Thief tonight.
I WAS confused. I had been attempting to do in-and-out strikes around the BP group, and not being very successful. It seemed like an army was there just waiting for me to get out of spawn. Closer … closer … then a huddle for 15 sec, and they rushed me!! As far up the steps as they could go!! I couldn’t believe it. I laughed a little, and then thought “those guys really want me dead …”
Didn’t know you could actually survive to the steps.
Had some good fights on BP borderlands last night. Won some, lost some. Almost makes me want to join you guys and get to know some of you. Almost …

I don’t know why anyone would want a different matchup!!!
I remember the days of logging in to a home borderland and not owning anything. Nothing! And 15 excited, energetic, blood-red mad dudes just waiting for you to set a toe out of spawn. Yes please knock a higher pop server down to our tier – not.
These weeks with GOM and BP have been awesome and I have loved it all. Developing rivalries? Nothing wrong with that.
I would like to send out a shout to a GOM thief who was on AR borderland early this morning. We got some team play and 1 on 1’s in for a while, and I just want to say “thank you for good fights”. I really don’t know who won the most and don’t care. I enjoyed seeing you go from losing to changing styles and kicking my butt. I did not adapt as readily as you and I give you kudos.

It is a challenge to keep a thread like this interesting after the 3rd week of the same server fights! So I ask, “What is the purpose of this thread?”
Are we going to use this space to argue over kittens and insult everyone’s motivations? Let me give you a little insight. NO ONE CARES!!!! And it should be obvious by this thread falling to the 3rd thread page – NO ONE IS READING IT!!!
I vote that we make this thread about stories! Not stories about who we think cheated or who may be better or worse or how my strategy is better than your strategy. Honestly, no one reading this believes any of it after a few posts.
Let’s make them EPIC – defending, attacking, funny, embarrassing – but interesting!
Couple of nights ago a couple of AR’s and a few BP’s were just messing around. We were taking turns dueling and learning a little about each other. After 10min or so, we started getting bored and were standing around (I was seriously considering ganking one of them just for kicks), and 4 GOM’s sneak up on us and start plowing.
One thief tried to gank me, but I dodged and made a fight. They took me down since I got separated from the crowd and at least a couple were on me. I didn’t care. It was hilarious! I don’t know if they took any more of AR or BP down or not, didn’t hang around.
I’m sure GOM was having a group hug about it all … hehe

You don’t want to move to Anvil Rock. Just to be blantantly honest, we’re probably too tough for you.
We are always outnumbered at least 100 to 1, but never lose a fight. The only reason we don’t own everything is that we don’t have enough players to have one person at all locations.
We are currently considering armor removal for every participant in wvw. This would not really give anyone else a chance, but would make us feel even more overpowered.
That being said, people that transfer in usually feel ill-equipped and think that we are elitist and arrogant.
We are.

Please don’t misunderstand …
The ONLY reason Ibankai is asking for help, is so that everyone gets a chance to see Anvil Rock in action! I mean, we already take and hold everything we can, it’s just that when you only have 5 people online, you can only hold 5 objectives. So yeah, we need more people to like video us and stuff because we’re fighters, not techies.
Am I right, or am I right …

Was loving the fights yesterday!
Good times at Anvil BL at south camp and west camp. Two separate occasions where our camps were upgraded against us and a few invaders held out forever! Saw a couple of toons that were very well played. I kept coming back for more and maybe learned a little.
Did manage to use the roaming minotaurs to my advantage a couple of times. That is definitely fun to use the NPC’s.

What you need, brother, is a server with character!!! Numbers, mumbers – win, lose, queueueueueue’s, or q’s- who cares??? When you win – you want to be remembered!! Am I right, or am i right?
You need people, brother!!! And I’m not talking about 6 year old C++ programmers or arm-chair assassin wanna-be’s. You want to be with guys that have been around, ya know what I mean?
You need a server with stories to tell!!! Community? Family? Who cares? Give me a circus clown, or a fish boat captain, or a country bumpkin!! Then you’ll get stories!
You want a server with Style! Panache! Charisma!

Please turn your sound up as I am singing this to you …
Can I have my ball?
Can I have my ball?
I kicked it into the tree.
And my ball bounced up,
and my ball dropped in,
to Anvil’s community.
Oh!
Anvil’s community is where we want to be
Everything’s so lovely and our hearts are filled with glee
And when you come to visit you can stand around and see
What a lovely bunch we are in Anvil’s community.
Oh!
Anvil’s community is where we like to be
Our clothes are never dirty and the lawns are always green
And when you come to visit you can stand outside and see
What a tidy bunch we are in Anvil’s community.
Oh!
Anvil’s community is where we’ll always be
Our smiles are white ‘cause we’re inside in comfy custody
And when you come to visit you can stand outside and see
What a smiling bunch we are in Anvil’s community!

Several have said it, but this week has been great!!! Logged in last night and the match really swung back and forth. Great fights in EB, ARBL, and GMBL.
It did seem that we all lost a lot of players after 12:00pm central, but the other two servers were hit harder than Anvil. A lot of PvDoor between 12 and 2am.

@Babel Hehe. Bring it on!!! Mission accomplished.

Ahh. You are Gates of Madness.
Tip 1: Never go to Anvil Rock borderlands to farm karma. You may not be able to leave spawn just from our sheer awesomeness. We don’t have anyone defending our borderlands, because the map itself is afraid to change color from blue.
Tip 2: Borlis Pass borderlands are best for farmers. Not that BP is weak by any means. They are in fact GREAT fighters. It’s just that killing them on the way to karma will give you such satisfaction, you’ll forget you even need karma anymore!

I figured I had three choices:
1. Don’t respond.
2. Put a plug in for Anvil Rock
3. Dis all the other servers, so building up Anvil Rock.
I decided on 2 & 3.

I am Anvil Rock.
I have grown to RELISH the thought of fighting Borlis Pass! When I see BP invaders on the screen, my vision turns crimson and I can’t even stop myself from rushing a zerg. If I down one toon in a zerg, I get a HUGE sense of satisfaction. If I win whether solo or in a group, it’s sheer enlightenment. It’s as if I start out in wvw feeling small and insignificant, but with every BP I down I am more powerful until I finally log out with an immense sense of accomplishment!
Last week it was us against Borlis. There may have been another server, but they were just a hurdle to go past so that I could fight the real enemy. This week, again just AR and BP, at least that’s how it is with me.
It’s not because BP has offended me in any way, or that they have cheated or used questionable tactics. But there is animosity.
WvW is not just business and it’s not just tactics. There’s no double team. It’s me and BP.
I am Anvil Rock.

Personally, I would never play PD in GW2. It is trading the thrill of taking on challenges and sometimes beating the odds with running and fear. This is a game and I want it to be exciting, not just thankful to be surviving. It is simply too restricting in the content available and a completely different state of mind.

@Balidore I almost never post on forums, and I almost never actually laugh out loud at forums, and I absolutely NEVER type lol. But I definitely LOL’d at your post! I hope I don’t ever scare you …
