My Equipment Tab Redesign

I rarely log in on the forums, but this caught my eye.
+1, it’s very neat and it would be a lot easier to switch between tabs while busy (combat, running).

Client stuck at 0%

Hello, I’ve lost connection and I had to restart the GW2 client. However, it remained stuck at Downloading 0%, occasionally saying it detected some connection issue. My internet connection is quite fine. I’ve rebooted, reseted the router, tried repairing the client using the instructions on this forum (it gives the same error), turned off the firewall, the antivirus, did a DNS flush, downloaded the game client again (same error), ran as administrator. Nothing works. Previously it displayed no such problems, although in the past days I experienced a lot more lag in-game than usual. Does anyone know a different fix for this?

The Skipping culture

Personally, I haven’t played much with pugs – my dungeon experience comes mostly from guild runs. And we always skip trash , mainly because the loot doesn’t match the effort. They are also incredibly boring in comparison with bosses. You just bash trash mobs till they die, no thinking required. I find puzzles more enjoyable, like the flame running in CoF path 1 or the torch lighting and explosion dodging of path 2. Mini bosses are alright, too.

Also, I have no issue running solo if I mess it up the first try because of a well timed brain fart. I just change my utilities and traits for survival and go again. Rarely have I ever died running, even in TA. That said, TA can use a few more WP…

When playing with pugs, I adapt to whatever play style they choose. Generally, attempting to coordinate a group of utter strangers for skipping leads to frustrating situations.

One way to kill the mobs fast enough so that they won’t overwhelm you is to take a mesmer with Time Warp+Feedback and a lot of AoE DPS. That’s the way I’ve done it with the guild and it worked pretty much every time. We didn’t kill every mob, though, but enough to survive without dying.

Kicked for the lack of a ranged weapon.

Well, that’s what you get for playing with pugs.

We always have a guardian in Arah playing resbot. That way we never wipe at Lupicus. Since we’re all pretty geared up, there’s no damage loss.

Heck, having a resbot is really nice for all dungeons. Sure, the Nightmare Tree in TA takes most dmg from ranged DPS, but the guardian serves well in drawing attention from the spiders/oakhearts.

But hey, pugs be crazy, so maybe make some friends and play with them? I do dungeons with my guild every day, and never have to listen to some arrogant pug telling me what to do.

It might not be her dying at the start of the fight, but rather after the boss dies, and she runs to open the door and gets killed in the fire. My guild’s workaround involves sending the person whom the NPC follows at the closed gate which she’s supposed to open. That person cannot participate in the boss fight (being outside the fire ring). Then trigger the fight, and she promptly dies in the fire ring. The fire ring will start to move inwardly and therefore away from the npc. When the boss dies, she respawns automatically ( no reviving required ) and rushes to open the gate.

As for the number of crystals required for the boss fight, well, it’s a roulette. Sometimes only one breaks, sometimes only one crystal is left (out of five). But 4 people can do the job, unless you are really really unlucky.

Ranger update

The ranger is definitely not broken. It’s perhaps one of the easiest classes to play. The only fault I can find is the lack of team support in the form of utilities (Call of the Wild being amazing, but you need a warhorn for it), since the spirits are kind of underpowered considering their range and general squishiness.

My guild and I do dungeons on a regular basis, and the team almost always has 2 rangers at least. We’ve done all the paths in CoF, SE, Arah (except the Seer path), AC and one in TA. I’ve gotta say, it must be the easiest role in the game to play against Lupicus, considering the longbow’s extreme range when traited and the amount of dodge power you have.

It could use some complexity, but hey, I am already loving my ranger!

Condition Ranger

Lower precision means lower crit chance, which isn’t too bad unless you are using a Sigil of Earth on your main weapon. I have used full Rampager’s for a while now, and I have something around 14k health which is waaaaay too little for WvW. Atm, I am considering getting Carrion trinkets and using (at least for WvW) huntsman oils which increase precision slightly (based on toughness/vit). They are really cheap/easy to make.

I don’t think having more than 60% crit chance is worth it, anyways. It’s a bit overkill, considering most of your damage comes from conditions rather than critical hits (as you have very little power to make them count).

I’ve done all 3 paths in CoF these last 2 days and I’m so glad I finally get the full reward for finishing them. 180 tokens a day is, for me at least, the perfect amount.

Yes, the Searing Effigy felt a little dumbed down in comparison to pre-patch. Since you lowered the amount of health crystals have, maybe let him spawn more?

Also, we’re still kiting the mobs while Magg sets his bomb. I normally die only once or twice with my ranger (I have no vitality or toughness on my gear), which isn’t an issue since I get 26s at the end.

So far, my favorite path is the 3rd one. Getting the torches to light at the same time gives me and my party that “we’re awesome” feeling every time. Which reminds me, I really do love these puzzle kind of things! Completing them feels much more rewarding than killing a boss with insane health and skills.

Dungeon Rewards Broken

What can I say? I just did the 3rd path today in CoF explorable mode for the VERY FIRST TIME, and it took roughly more than 30 min (mostly because the final boss kept running back and fro with the invincible buff) and I get…. 2 TOKENS?! I was like, what in the world… I asked my team mates, and they got around 15-30 or so. But 2 tokens? I ain’t going near CoF anymore. Previously, doing the 2nd path twice awarded me with 15, respectively 6 tokens.

This is infuriating. Especially since you’re awarded the tokens after completing the whole darn thing, you don’t know whether it’s gonna be worth it (because of the bug) or not.

Not getting all of my dungeon tokens

Confirmed, I had the same issue today, and about a week ago. First time I did Magg’s path in explorable CoF, I got only 15 tokens and 6s silver. Every other team mate got 60 tokens. It’s getting really frustrating, especially considering the difficulty of the dungeon clear.

So, yesterday I did only CoF explorable once. I understand the rewards get cut off after doing it multiple times, but I received only 2 silver and 5 tokens from the end reward, after doing it ONLY once in the whole day?! Not to mention I broke ALL my equipment till the NPC set the Kaboomium (timer was twice as long). Could you at least put some time in between the spawns so we can actually kill them instead of just running around? I don’t mind difficulty so long as the reward matches it, but I’m coming out with losses after doing CoF.
