Beginnings

The guild was created over a year ago. Having originally been setup for personal use on a distant server. Since it’s original creation it has been reformed on at least twelve different servers. Ranging from rank 24 to 1, as I have explored the various home worlds of Tyria. Before settling down on Devona’s Reset. It has become increasingly clear that the game is more about the people we choose to share our in game time with then the game itself.

What we are

GNRS is a small collection of players that has become a very cohesive and sociably friendly guild. Ranging from youthful exuberance to the wise retireie. We are looking to expand our existing core player base. Most of us running between 8AM-7PM EST [Oceanic / EU time slots]. We are seeking folks that will help produce a sum larger then its parts. We spend a lot of time together and we want that time to be enjoyable to all who share in that time. We are not looking for pure numbers.

Our focus & aims

Currently our focus is on the WvW side with offshoots into PvE. Our WvW play style is a fast paced flow through the borderland maps. Mobility, prep work, and general havoc. Long prolonged engagement are not our usual style. We are always looking to become better players but are uncompromising when it comes to our sociably friendly atmosphere. We are not looking for a structured, rehearsed, top down WvW play style. But something more ambiguiouse and dynamic. We want our team to anticipate the next set of moves, adjusting and reacting accordingly in a fun way that supports a pleasant day in WvW.

Our PvE play style is a bit more haphazard. Similar to a gathering of rosy cheeked Norns, fast speaking Asura, and short tempered Charrs, to mention a few. All trying to find their way through unexplored or forgotten lands. In search of treasures, glory, the next pub, or perhaps the perfect specimen of lemon-grass.

We are more interested in retention then on recruiting.

We are utilizing Team Speak.

We ask all members to be:

Mature players. We do not want any drama coming in to the guild and causing any disharmony.

TeamSpeak is heavily used and strongly recommended but not required. Just being able to listen is a big hurdle overcome.

Be polite and respectful to each other. We don’t mind jokes but those in poor taste may be dealt with.

We do require that you represent us the majority of the time. We want you to want to represent us. We don’t mind if you are using your personal guild vault.

Used the mac utilities and deleted all files on the partition. Re-installed the O.S. and all applications. Needed to do this anyway for a number of reasons.

You guys on the other servers are existing our guild leaders. It has been reported that some have resorted to barricading themselves into towers. Surrounding themselves with siege while refusing to come out for anyone. Slipping an occasional note under the gate with a new guild tag or list of unfamiliar names.

DR wants it’s commanders back! Please stop sending them tells and email and COME TO DR ALREADY.

In the end rank means very little so long as your having fun. The days of T1/T2 are coming to an end with china coming online with it’s own seperate servers. Big zergs can be found on EoTM anytime with increasingly skilled commanders there. Guesting is mainstream if your looking for a high population PVE servers.

Be apart of something larger then yourself. Devona is done resting!

Looking for lag in all its glorious forms? How about a tight zerg blob moving around the map(s)? Still think more is better? People screaming orders in your ear for hours on end? Maybe siege beggars are what your looking for? Guild taxes? Enemy trolls? Overflows? Wanting to be the ultimate commander in the universe? Yep, that just might be the place for you.

Plenty of bag filling good times to be had. I do beleive Spirit may have said it best, “we have cookies”.

In the end it does not matter. We are crawling out of the mud to come up there to kick all your kitten anyway. So either get on board or get out of the way while you can.

Molen is a guy with an IQ just a few ticks below Einstein or at least that’s how it seems. He has a calm, even tone, regardless of the battle field intensity. He is clear, to the point, and with a good sense of humor. Its going to take a lot of enemy havoc squads to trip him up or slow him down. He is able to oversee the movements and coordination of multiple attacks. For those interested in the long hard fights that people really have to work at to win, this is one of the guys you want to listen too.

He oversee a guild that has great respect for him, troops that are willing to crawl through the bloodied mud. He puts the server first.

When I joined the server, Molen invited me to the guild. I told him I was unlikely to stay as I have issues with authority being from the late generation X. With a big loner streak to boot. Well, a few months later, I’m still here. Members of BRL have welcomes me in, called me friend, and always seem to have a hot pot of digital coffee brewing.

We focus on havoc during the day, trying to take hard targets and making them soft when an opportunity presents itself. When there is a large guild commander running, we do our best to maintain bloodlust to give them the extra boost they need to climb over or through the wall /gate. This gives our evening forces a chance to focus on gaining ground. While working in conjunction with the other organized guilds with other honed talents.

Our number one goal during the day is to have fun while trying to do some good. We are not hell bent on winning or looking for the perfect open field battle with the perfect build for zerg busting. It is a game and we try to remind ourselves of that if tensions rise. Others will have to speak to NA primetime intent.

But one thing is for certain, we are a tight little group that likes to run with other tight little groups. Molen somehow pulls it all together to produce something greater then the sum of its parts. … And that’s always great to be a part of.

More important then server, ranking, skill, build and all that BS is do you have friends to run with? DR has some really great guilds filled with great folks. You sound like a good fit. Transfers are free soon, so come on over. It will cost you nothing and so will leaving if we fail your expectations.

T1 is a zerg fest. You can drop 10 G a day on siege and upgrading camps all while getting scolded for burning supply. Don’t wast your time.

I won’t recommend any particular guild, but your odds are very good that you will find one that is a right fit for you. Dark Jean and the other listed commands are all great people and players. Each filling a key role on the server while organizing the players that run with them.

Having played on many server from tier 8 to tier 1 the lower tiers seem to have a genuine community. There is plenty of room for all sorts of fun mayhem to be had by all the guilds either doing there own thing or coming together for larger strategic maneuvers. Not a few overpowering or omnipresent commanders that are screaming commands into mumble or TS for hours on end. In an effort to keep the zerg blob held tight against the other zerg blog. Each with there perfect zerg busting builds. Bla bla bla.

If you are thinking of joining the over-stacked T1 servers for better loot, it’s a joke unless your running with the zerg taking orders. Do yourself a favor and come to DR. Your bags are likely to fill up faster on the lower servers because we are flipping A LOT more stuff during a smaller timer interval. Because we don’t need to be in a huge map zerg to be successful. All those great commanders are rolling properties across all 4 maps 24/7. Yes, the properties are being held, just by a smaller force which makes for fun fights where just a few people can turn the battle one way or the other.

No, we can’t flash build 3 superior trebs or put 5 rams on a fortified gate without running supply, but we usally don’t need to either. We have a good time, with a lot of laughs, in team speak channels where everyone has a voice. Like small scale scale havoc? Like to roam? Having fun with that on the higher tiers? There is a place for you here. Take advantage of the free transfers.

Put an end to those Troll pieces of kitten filling your team chat or pumping crap into your head all day long. It won’t be long before you are called by your preferred character’s name.

Come and be heard. More then likely, there is a place for you here.

Love the LFG feature. Just wish advertised groups would stay listed for 20 or 30 minutes at a time unless they fill up. They vanish after a few minutes if nobody responds to them.

The system seems to rely on people actively monitoring the page and jumping in on a group. Which works great with new content when everyone is stacked at the gate to get in. But for older content in low population maps the current listing window is very short.

There may only be a 2 or 3 players on the servers that might actually be looking for something similar. The odds of them looking at the LFG feature at the very time a listing is present is unlikely.

So far as the bugged event goes i believe you are right. There seems to be a 1 minute window to interact with the merchant before one of the champion karka re-spawns or one of the settlements goes contested again. Only had time to purchase two of the six piece set before i was in combat again.

Been trying to obtain armor and some weapons from the Southsun merchants. But need help clearing the settlements in order to activate the exotic gear. Either I just miss it or the farmers are not intreated cause they don’t want to fight the queen (not enough players). Have popped tag to try and get a farming group formed but loose everyone when going for the northern settlements.

Can someone whisper me if the camps are being cleared please? I can guest over to any of the servers. If a party is interested in forming for that purpose please let me know.

There is a void in this game that I would like to draw attention to. I will attempt to express it in terms of crafting and building but by no means is it limited to these areas. Just that I am most acquainted with it and believe I stand the best chance at clearly expressing my thoughts within that context. It is my hope that others will elaborate on it so that it stands a chance at becoming a useful thread for the Development team.

The game is largely focused on drawing individuals together as a group to accomplish a goal. Such as dungeons, WvW, PvP, fractals, boss fights, farming groups, etc. Word exploration, although it can be done in the company of a group, is largely a personal journey until completed. Which makes it somewhat unique outside the main story. Each has its own style along with its pros and cons. Topics of discussion outside of this thread.

I for one play to relax, to burn time while working on real life tasks. This translates into constant interruptions that make it challenging even frustrating to run with groups due to their fast pace and dependence on everyone functioning efficiently together for hours.

It is my desire to see crafting or some other means created that caters to the casual builder / crafter. Put in place a means for some that desire to spend our time building elaborate homes or other structures on a timeline that is set by the player(s). Once that mechanic is put in place the wealthy non combat builder has a strong desire to hire player services. Other players of like mind that may choose to help in the building process. Gathering supplies from nearby nodes, packing them onto yaks and moving them back to the build site. All of which would be made a bit easier with a combat focused escort for higher end materials. For example, maybe a roaming warrior working on map completion stumbles upon the secluded build site. Is intrigued, strikes up a conversation with the tired old builder who puts him/her to hired work for a bit. Protecting his supply yaks for a change of pace and giving a Warrior something useful to do that helps a person and not just the game – to be useful. Who knows? But that’s the beauty of it. The player base determines the outcome, not so much the game.

The key here is that these elements and pace are largely driven by the builder not by the game schedule. No amount of wealth will permit the site to be completed unless the builder is capable of working with others or just enjoys the slow grind of building and running supplies in a relatively safety of the build site that he purchased. Creating something unique at a pace they set and directly oversee. Which for some of us is really enjoyable. Even if it is a small portion of the whole.

Allow these structures to be decorated. Build in functionality that allows a crafter to branch off and specialize over time. Making their skills unique or rare and thus highly sought after by other players. That help cater to erecting these small homes or elaborate castle sites.

I am not sure how this could be implemented within the current game design. Since it would likely require dense areas of materials, plots of land across the entirety of the map. In various sizes and densities. Sizes from 500, 100, 50, 20, 10, 5, 1, .5, .25 acre lots for example. The options are endless. Yaks for hire and the mechanics that drive it all. Maybe it’s too much. I Just don’t know.

Not all of us want to fight all of the time. Some of us would be perfectly content just chipping away on a personal project to help pass the time. Building relationships as we go. Maybe someone in Divinities Reach will take notice and write an article in Home Décor magazine about the new castle being erected in a far off corner of Brisban Wildlands. :-) Ya never know.

I vaguely recall reading something about players building out new map locations so maybe something similar is already in the works. But i really enjoy GW2 but am getting tired of working my way through the same old fight mechanics in a different setting.

While in WvW, acting as commander, I repeatedly bump up against the excessive messages limit. I have listed this as an issue because it severely limits my ability communicate with my team while leading our team to victory. I play at least 8 hours and may lead the team for hours. After about an hour or so the errors start to occur. I am powerless to do anything. The team slowly deteriorates since I cannot command by providing critical communications to my immediate soldiers or fellow commanders.

In WvW the limits must be increased. Very rarely do I see spam. If someone has to pay 100G for a commander title they should have much higher messaging limits in WvW.

Sure I can type out longer messages but after 2 seconds of standing still soldiers start getting itchy trigger fingers and the chat channel fills up with “… And our next move is?” and so on. Short repeated messages seems to be a necessity especially when engaged in battle.
