Yeah who knew that an ex boyfriend’s nickname for me (we played together at the time) would make people call me an “attention seeking girl gamer.” I get that there are reasons that Anet has cited as reasons for not allowing people to change their name, but these reasons exist in any game. This feature is present in pretty much every game I’ve ever played and has presented little issue to the community.
Lest we not forget that people can add you to their friend’s list without your permission, and you can’t make them remove you. Even if you block that person, they can still see when you’re online.
For a game as “advanced” as GW2, you’re lacking 2 very basic features and you’re causing more harm to people than good. Do you really care more about accountability than player privacy/safety?
PS: I don’t play this game anymore, and the reason I don’t is because I can’t change my name… hence how I ended up on this thread in the first place, because I was curious if the feature had been added yet. :/
DB was gonna make it to tier 2 with or without the transfer only because Kaineng was gonna fall regardless. Please don’t say anything if you don’t know what you’re talking about.

I like how people imply that DB had no skill before the transfer guilds. We were well on our way to T2 before they came.
yes db alone made it up the tiers with skill and not with transfers fixing its covergae gaps in na. plaese teach every other server how to do it.
So Mags are not trying to fix their coverage gaps? I look at the recruitment subforum, and I see a Mags recruitment post. Db doesn’t have any. I wonder if someone’s just being jealous here.

no one is crying db seems to not understand why they have so many fairweathers. you will of course always be confused by this if you believe you got to where you are with skill alone and not all the transfers coming to db for easy wins.
I don’t see anyone who said DB got to T2 with skill alone. That’d be preposterous. Care to share the link? We had the coverage and numbers to be in T2, which is why we moved there. After that, we received numerous transfers.
The transfers did help us hold our place in T2. They’re awesome, yes, and an integral part of DB now. Nobody is denying that.

It’s interesting because DB received all of its transfers when the “easy” wins stopped. Since we moved to T2, we had one week I would consider easy; the rest have all been hard fought, excepting last week when we were soundly trounced.
i’m not angry i’m just really perplexed by how some of db can be so oblivious to the unwritten rule of being a bandwagon server as soon as you stop winning the transfers stop showing up.
There’s a reason this rule is unwritten, and that’s because it hardly applies to every situation. There’s nothing to hide about how [RE] runs, so I’ll give you a brush down. We have 2 mandatory raid times every day that last for a few hours each. One during NA prime and one during SEA as we have a decent amount of SEA players. There are no exceptions, this is every day. We also have a policy about defending, and if there is an emergency our players are asked to join us immediately. When no pin is up for our guild, our members will come on and run havoc, but we attempt to have a commander pinned up on our map of choice at all hours no matter what time slot. Regardless, we are on the field everyday, and whether its during our mandatory WvW times we have at least a few members on the borderlands 24/7.
As far as [CO], [rB], [FIRE[, I happen to know they’re the same way. They show up to fight regardless of the tick. I’ve never once seen their players or their leaders decide not to show up because it was “too hard”. If we can’t pull enough people to join us (especially during the Oceanic/SEA time slot) we’ll just run havoc with each other or try to pick fights if we don’t have the numbers to take bigger objectives.
Also, no one who actually is on DB is convoluted enough to believe that Dragonbrand only moved up because of us. Dragonbrand was very much on its way up. I do agree that transfers helped to maintain the server’s position, but it was hardly enough to skyrocket DB anywhere. There is a bit of an overestimation of how many people DB actually gained in transfers. It’s nowhere even in the ballpark of what we experienced when [RE] was on JQ and we got all of the transfers.
Yeah, sincere apologies from EMP. We as a whole are a tight knight community and seeing people stray from that ideal and pull things like this is disheartening. This isn’t a position we like to be in and we hope never to be here again. Thanks for reporting it, it’s being dealt with.

I am so glad you posted this video to just show how poor of sportsman you are. This is what RG is all about, abusing whatever they can and everything they can to win. Culling is already an issue and your guild goes ahead to make sure to use the AC potion to make sure you stay even longer invisible on top of mesmer stealth veil! You’re guild’s amazing because you make sure your enemies never see you and never will because you’ll abusing every bit of what culling it has to offer.
RG has no strategy just a giant culling abusing zerg.

In war, you don’t just go shake hands with your enemy and introduce yourself, you attack with the element of surprise. Saying someone is cheating by being sneaky is like saying a war was won unfairly because you were outplayed and unprepared. A thief isn’t cheating by stealthing up onto an individual player and attacking them, they’re using their build as intended. Same goes with team/group gameplay – not using your skills to benefit your entire group would just be poor gameplay. The fact remains that these strategies are available to all individuals who play the game – and plenty of people use these tactics. Red Guard just uses them unusually well. I’ve seen Votf, Tsym, and plenty of other guilds use this as well. If you’re gonna generalize groups who use tactics based on skills that are given to them and have been decided as working as intended by the GMs, then you might want to include the fact that literally everyone does this, Red Guard is just doing it better. No matter if you see it as an abuse or not, it takes a lot of coordination and discipline to be this effective. If you have an issue with the way skills effect WvW, it’s probably better to take it up with the people who have decided those skills are working as intended and balanced, not the people who are using their skills as effectively as they can to benefit their group.
I was once told by a PvE player that “PvP/WvW players are generally disrespectful, don’t play well with others, and are hostile with no sense of community.” Only a WvW player knows that there is no stronger community than WvW where you play alongside the same people day after day, that there are no kinder people than the ones that will come across an entire map just to respond to one person’s shout-out, and that we don’t just have to work with 5 people at a time for 30 minutes at a time – but dozens if not hundreds throughout the day.
Only a WvW player knows why not killing the lowbie mining for his dailies is both an act of mercy and a show of power.
Only a WvW player thinks that jump puzzles are only for gathering siege just before reset, and the achievement points they got the first time they finished them were “some kinda weird bug or something…”
Just wanted to show some support for this thread as an outsider with a great deal of perspective on T1. I’m on the wonderful server JQ, and I’ve fought against SoS and their many great guilds week after week. While I expect to face a new pumped up SoS next week (scary thought) I understand the need to keep T1 as competitive as humanly possible. I wish you guys luck with any transfers you’ve already secured and any upcoming transfers you wish to pull into your server. JQ has recently gotten a handful of it’s own new guilds with the gusto and fire to get in there and give us a hand vs. you guys. And I’m glad to hear you guys trying to find more Brit/Euro players to fill up your off hours, because it doesn’t do JQ much good to recruit Brit/Euro players if they have no one to fight when they prime time. For those of you who are doubtful of if you can even make a difference on SoS, I assure you they wouldn’t be recruiting if you couldn’t. There are many hours during the night where their PPT falls quite low due to a lack of coverage, as it does at some point with all the T1 servers. No matter where you are in T1 you’ll make a difference. For those of you who end up making SOS your new home, [EMP] looks forward to seeing you on the battle field! Good luck on your recruitment and your dedication to keep your server competitive in WvW.
Only a WvW player would email money to a random stranger for upgrades with 100% assurance that’s what the money will be spent for.
Only a WvW player would spend countless hours escorting yaks for literally 0 rewards just to make sure upgrades are being finished.
Only a WvW player would spend several hours after they should’ve gone to bed defending Bay with two open walls until finally losing it, and still saying good job to everyone who helped defend it once it’s lost; and then still not go to bed so they can help take it back.
Come for the WvW, stay for the Noodles! I joined EMP a few weeks ago and I’m really enjoying myself. So far the most coverage of any WvW guild I’ve been in, the best coordinated, and always someone lovely to team with. Free server transfers almost up so come to JQ!

My friend and I would love to have one of your commissions for each of us (colored, but with no background at all). He’d like one of his warrior, Doof Lundgren, with his mini pet raccoon Rocket also in the picture. In his picture he’d also like him to be shown with the Legendary hammer The Juggernaut. He’d prefer NOT to have the metallic look on his armor in the picture. The Juggernaut also splashes quicksilver when you use it. The splashes would be great in the picture, though, as they look cool as heck. He really likes his armor colors, so keeping them as close to what he has would be awesome.
I’d also like a picture (also colored but with a solid white background) of my thief Dooferella and my mini pet Mr. Pea Tear Griffon. I’d also like to be shown with the Legendary shortbow The Dreamer (possibly shooting the rainbows would be cool if you could). While I do like my armor colors, I’m very fond of pink/white/rainbow color schemes and I’m super girly. So feel free to take liberties with my armor coloring. Also my armor is texture heavy, so feel free to flatten it out if you need to, if it makes it look better to you.
So just to elaborate this will be two -seperate- pictures so we’ll pay you for two commissions. I apologize for not being able to send you the pictures of the weapons on us, but we’re both a little shy of the karma to craft them and we wanted you to have plenty of time to get them done before you’re back to homework and all that mess. I love seeing how you envision people’s characters and put it into art so I can’t wait to see what you come up with for us.

I am confused. There is already incentive to do WvWvW. It is the +10% crafting bonus, or the +8% gathering bonus the ENTIRE SERVER gets for a successful accomplishment of said bonus. Everyday bonuses are given out, but it seems we just have grown accustomed to the bonuses.
Instead of saying “WHAT ELSE CAN THIS GIVE ME” i think that Anet should instead decrease the benefits of what is given from WvWvW. Lets actually see the real world acknowledgement of such a thing.
Keep giving people everything, they WILLLLLLLL always beg for more. It is proven throughout the entire world civilization.
Declare what is available to everyone, and they will appreciate what is given to them.
I really hate to point out the obvious on this one… but the buffs we get each week for winning are beneficial almost entirely to PvErs. In WvW, we dish out tons of gold for upgrades and siege, while racking up armor repair costs and barely making any back of what we’re spending to do all of this. Meanwhile, someone farming in Cursed Shore is benefiting quite happily from all our hard work while reaping the benefits of a huge buffed up zerg fighting completely non-strategic NPC mobs. WvW players are literally throwing their money at PvErs with no compensation for it. Tell me why the buffs that WvWers work so hard to get only really benefit the people who barely, if at all WvW? So no, there really aren’t any WvW incentives… at least not for WvWers.
