Waiting endlessly for the fireworks this weekend. I often can’t wait for 2 hours, things to do. I have tried waiting about 5 times already, spent a total of 8+ hours waiting with no credit. Seems like the fireworks happened 5 minutes ago every time I log on.

I waited for nearly 2 hours yesterday but fell asleep towards the end.

The last thing in my chat log before it auto-disconnected me was “ooh look up!”

Got no credit for the event.

Karka Queen event frustration

This swarm of karkas magically materialized right on top of me with no warning, there was no chance to even run. I and several others were unable to get to the event after releasing and running back, got no credit after clearing towns/waiting an hour.

Extremely frustrating and poorly executed event, feels like a rush job.

The karka materialization needs to have some kind of warning, and the density of mobs is way too much for the amount of people trying to get to the event. I killed a bunch of karkas in the town there trying to get to the queen but still got no event credit.

EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING RUSH JOB.

Please slow down Anet. Polish polish polish.

Ever since an update a couple (?) days ago I’ve been having terrible problems with lag and disconnects in this zone on the CD server. I asked in map chat if anyone else was having similar problems and LOTS of people said they were. Very frequent lag then disconnect, maybe every 10 minutes for the past couple days.

Had zero problems previously, I’ve made no changes to my software of system hardware. Using AMD with Nvidia.

Seems like the lag and disconns get worse right when a champ instigator appears, maybe it has something with the fire AE they are dropping?

I was running around in WvW yesterday, trying to make a go with my balanced stats SB/PP setup. Got instagibbed several times by 7K backstabbers, thought I was sacraficing a lot to get to nearly 2700 armor, my damage sucks but I still get hit hard. After doing several unloads on a warrior for about 300, barely scratching him, shot a guardian for about 200 a pop and he literally laughed at me and just stood there like “what kind of a joke are you?”

P/P can be ignored because it is not a weapon set that has ever been widely used, this is “Anet-logick”. The “good” weapon sets, used by the good players of course, get all the attention.

Another consideration for P/P is lack of condition removal, I think a light field on #2 might be reasonable.

Well, the P/P thing isn’t working out so great in WvW, condition removal is a big problem. If only the #2 skill was a light field… guess I’ll have to go cookie cutter like everyone else

Really miss the Shadow Return that actually did what the tooltip said: “returns you to your original location” yeah right… more like “jams you into terrain and discombobulates your camera view.”

They really needed to nerf it so bad they didn’t care about breaking it at the same time? What a joke.

The math stuff is hard for some of us, that point about 40% vs 80% condition duration reduction is a real eye opener for me. Seems like things are working as designed but the design is a bit iffy around some of the edges…

If anyone smart is up for it, I bet some infographics and worked out examples would help make the situation more clear.

I was using S/P before Shadow Return got nerfed and broken. It was lots of fun in WvW and in no way overpowered, I don’t think I ever saw another thief using it regularly.
It was great for milegate and open-field standoffs to get behind the enemy lines and create havoc, so fun.

Bummer.

Guess I’ll try to go with P/P now, just don’t want sword or a stealth build, probably start playing my guardian more…

Aww, obviously it was a bug fix, but kitten it was so fun in WvW while it lasted. Honestly, infinite range on shadow return isn’t overpowered in WvW compared to some of the utilities/synergies available otherwise, and it was especially not overpowered when considering the huge burst damage available to some classes. They keep talking about toning down burst damage but all the fun stuff just keeps getting nerfed.

It was bugged the entire time. There was no “hunt”, no “search”, nothing. Shadow Behemoth was the major theory but the loot was bugged and Arenanet insisted otherwise. It was the most anti-climatic and awful end to the search.

Did Anet ever issue a mea culpa after this all played out? If not, that is just weak.

The problem with required grouping is that it is not easy for everyone to find a group. The cool kids just group up with their guildies and friends but not everybody has that luxury. I stood around for nearly an hour trying to get a group for the F&F dungeon with no luck, it just isn’t worth it.

The real issue here is that GW2 needs some way to make grouping easier for people that are not in the in crowd.

I would have liked to try it but couldn’t find a group. I stood around asking for about 20 min 2x and couldn’t get anyone to join. I thought about trying that website but felt it was just too much work, went off to WvW instead. Whats in there? I’ll probably never know. After getting burned by non-functioning scavenger hunts I don’t think I’ll pay much attention to these types of events in the future. The whole thing was really uninteresting and extremely frustrating.

The quality of our CD WvW’ers keeps going up, full of fire and fight even when outmanned on all fronts like last night. I wish the departing/departed bandwagoneers well, its a game for fun and all, but… traitors!!! You’ve made a mistake.

I’ve sort of scoffed at the notion that the servers are really much different from each other but I’m beginning to think they are developing their own personalities – I really like our current opponents, fun and respectful unlike a couple in the past. CD for it’s part is IMO becoming the HEART server, fighting hard no matter what. I’m so glad to be here! Our hearts are filling with love and fire! ~Popsies

This is a problem in many 3rd person view games, I was hoping GW2 would shake this trend.

I refer to this as “locus of hearing”.

Related to this are the droplets of water on the camera lens when a character exits water; ahh what magic camera is this following me around? The droplets of water should appear on my character, not an immersion-breaking magic floating lens.

D/D Condition Damage Thief?

I’m such a spaz, got to learn to save that initiative, spam spam spam.

I’ve been using various D/D condition builds in WvW with my recently level 80 thief. D/D
evade caltrops is so fun and effective in solo/Orr farm PvE, I figured I’d keep rolling with that for WvW starters. It actually seems to have good utility in lots of WvW scenarios, the “zerg surfing” comment earlier in this thread made me LOL. I’m guessing the Dagger Storm bleed is aided by condition damage gear, that thing is hell on zergs, and the heal on attack thingy works great with it (unless some joker strips the stability or stuns it somehow, don’t know how they do that lol, some risen vets do it too).

Getting insta-killed by sneak-backstab sucks though, spiked before they even render, makes me wonder if I should just pick up full crit damage gear

I’m wondering what other weapons to use with D/D condition damage gear; I’ve tried pistol/dagger but it seemed really tough to execute the skill sequences, maybe too much for my skill level? I was rarely able to get off the pistol #1 from stealth. I guess shortbow would be logical but I’ve been using sword/pistol, the #2 skill is just insane – teleport AND condition removal – its hard to let that go.

Thanks! I’ll try turning off auto attack on pistol 1, and the stealth-sequence thing is something I’ll try to look out for. Pistol main is fun in WvW!

The Shadow Arts VIII trait Hidden Thief, “stealing grants you 2 seconds of stealth”, is bugged when using a pistol main hand. When attempting to steal with Hidden Thief while using a pistol main hand weapon, stealth is immediately broken, a single vital shot (not from stealth) is fired, and you are removed from combat mode. With other weapons equipped the trait works properly; stealth is activated and no auto-attacks are made.

This is messing up what I want to do, please fix.

Nerf confusion? WHAT? That is an astoundingly absurd request with the huge amounts of burst damage some classes can do. Tone down the burst damage and WvW will become more tactical/strategic oriented AND the cries for nerfing of confusion will be even more absurd.

AOE target limits are slipshod and arbitrary, they should be totally removed and replaced with dynamic scaling: i.e. an AOE damage spell will do less damage to each target affected as more targets are hit, but the spell will still hit all the targets. Simple and straightforward does it best.

Hello traders, economics is something that has always mystified me so please go easy. Lately, as my main character has mostly geared up fully, I’ve been using any extra gold I earn to “gamble” with the Mystic Forge in the hopes of getting valuables back. Mind, I’m not really trying to make money, my goal is just to do something fun with extra gold. I plan on starting a new character if I miraculously get a precursor item. My mode is pretty much to wait until I have saved over 10 gold and then do some speculating. Its a lot more addictive than I would have imagined

The issue I’m having is that the level 80 exotics that are generated by the Mystic Forge attempts seem to be mostly dropping in value. At first, a few weeks ago, it seemed I was able to fairly easily sell off the level 80 exotics, but this past couple weeks, they have been sitting for sale without movement. In checking the undercut prices, in most cases there have been dramatic drops in the going prices and my items don’t look like they’ll sell for a long long time, if ever… Which makes me wonder at what point I should pull the listings and relist, and for how much? All my funds have gotten tied up in these non-moving items now.

What I’m guessing is that many other players are in the same gambling boat as I (the Riverboat Precursor Queen lol), generating level 80 exotics really fast, faster than demand? Any thoughts or illumination on this?

I mainly enjoyed the game for wvw but the grind for legendaries/ascended is just too much to contemplate. I was happy with exotics being top tier. Played every day since release, thought I’d be playing for years, but haven’t logged in since the day after the stat changes to legendaries was announced.

I’ve got an exotic weapon in the bank of each type for my character, sometimes before I go to WvW I will switch up my weapon set, I can’t do this anymore, the grind for legendaries/ascended is just too much to contemplate.

Make Ascended/Legendary gear have the same stats as exotics when in WvW please.

PvP balance was respected when the changes to Legendary items was made, WvW deserves the same respect.

This and all the other inconsistencies regarding targeting mechanics should be addressed and normalized.

Make the mechanics logically consistent and sensible first, then balance classes based on that solid basis. Don’t balance classes based on broken/illogical/inconsistent mechanics.

That said, I’ll be berserking keep defenders mercilessly in the meantime.

I think i have an actual Orb solution? Morale Boost!

Summary: Teams get a stats boost while in their own borderlands that scales inversely according to how many keeps/towers/camps they own.

Nice post, I like the idea. Maybe it could also include some pve (crafting, exp, etc…) bonuses that scale positively according to how many properties are controlled. Also some spice for Eternal Battlegrounds along the same lines might be nice.
