The patch did indeed help however still crashing in high pop areas or meta events. If Im lucky i can complete the AB meta without crashing but as for DS, forget it. I cant do a complete run without crashing and fighting to get back to my map. I always run in a party so that in the event when I crash i can try to get to my map instance I was on. Now if I crash at the end of DS and i try to get back to my map instance i get a “network connection error please check your network connection” message. Its strange because I was able to do the HoT finale with no problems but anything else is out of the question

the game simply is completly broken for me now. I cannot even stay in the game for more than 5mins. I launch and can take a few steps in LA and as soon as I hit M to change maps I crash. Or I take a few steps and I crash. Support has stopped responding to me now it seems.

And, what “Bug reports” will help your team? PLEASE communicate with us, do you need our mac crash logs?

Ive sent several of mine however they insist on having the “arenanet.log” file that resides in the gw2 app support folder in the user library. One tech told me in a response that they didnt know how to read the Apple crash reports.

The only way mac users can play (for a few hours maximum before crash) is by setting everything to rotten potato settings. I’ve never been able to see this game run properly with sweet graphics on the mac client, a 3 YEAR OLD BETA that has no deadline whatsoever. God i’d be surprise if they are even working on it

Unless there’s a native Mac client that they haven’t released at all yet, there’s not really anything to work on. The whole appeal of Cider is that it’s a wrapper for Windows apps, so there’s no need to actually write a Mac version. Well, in theory, anyway…

According to Nvidia, Cider wont be supported or developed any longer. Our only options are to bootcamp or find someone to develop a working wine wrapper or even better a client that works. The latter I doubt will happen due to fact they arent even acknowledging this HUGE thread with more than 400 replies. Im looking into Crossover by Code Weavers but have sent a message to tech support to get in writing that my account and all that I worked on and money spent on the game will not be at risk of being banned.

I have a 50+ email back and forth thread with tech support that started on June 16th. I have sent PM’s to Gaile Grey and Colin (no response from Colin and got a “why did you contact Colin he cant do anything?” type response) Gaile told me to be patient they are working on it and to go through support. Support has closed/reopened my ticket 3 times now. since the patch yesterday Im lucky if I can stand still for 5 mins without crashing. I can turn right, CRASH. I can jump, crash. I log in, CRASH. NVIDIA pretty much confirmed that Cider is no longer supported and the Cider team has been reassigned to other developments. My crash logs (i send daily to support in my email replies) are showing the client trying to call a debug dll help file that normally resides in the windows system folder and we mac users know that dll’s don’t reside anywhere in our OS. with each passing patch that arrives to my brand new, top of the line (next to the best model) 27" iMac, the worse the client becomes. Posting on Reddit is futile due to all the mac haters and trolling idiots. Like another poster wrote, I do not like windows. Thats why i have a mac. Up until June 16th 2015 I was playing on both my 13" late 2012 MBP and on this sparkly new iMac with no issues what so ever. Now I cant even log in with out something. I have done everything that support has asked me to do, even the most asinine things suggested (have you restarted your mac? Have you tried logging into a pc client? etc). Now I havent gotten a reply from support in like three days other than “How did we do? Rate your support” emails. This shows me that their intention to close my ticket again is in the not so distant future. I was very upset to see a 65bit version come out while for the nearly 6 months of game play that I have struggled through in pain has gone unnoticed. I have bought the deluxe HoT have played it a great deal however its like play 20-40mins crash, play 20-40 mins crash. OOOO new patch….login crash, delete folder, login update, fix game settings, play 20 mins crash and now its just login crash standing still in LA. I did ask for compensation some time back and got the “if we gave you something we would have to give to everyone who asked for support” answer. I have been VERY patient ANET, when are we going to get some sort of answer besides “please be patient as we are waiting on a reply from Nvidia”?

I tried downloading a new-vanilla OSX installer but I can’t get the game to run, any ideas/suggestions?

I had that as well after one of the patches. There is a repair command to use in Terminal. I dont have it handy but im sure if you search for it that it will come up. After running the command in terminal RESTART your mac

Hello,

We know the Cider wrapper isn’t the greatest. One of the reasons we don’t tend to respond to a lot of Mac specific posts is because an overwhelming majority of them are shared with Windows users. I do want to assure you all that we are actively fixing bugs on all clients. Some are quick to fix, some take a fair bit of time. Please try to be patient and keep submitting those reports!

Thanks!

I have been submitting reports since June 16th. I would like to commend the patience and through work that GM Lead Tech Gus has done with me. HOWEVER, the recent days of reports I have sent have fallen on deaf ears and the recent reply from support (not GM GUS) was

“Take your iMac to Apple and have an employee run hardware tests on it”

I have a brand new (purchased in March 2015) 27" iMac (model just under the top model) and I have already spoken with Apple BEFORE contacting support and have run diagnostics as well as memory testing almost once a week now. I crash once or twice an hour.

In regards to the Cider error – its trying to call a windows .dll file that cannot be executed by the OS. I have even submitted Apple Crash reports to the techs.

I have the same issue as well and according to Apple and all the trouble shooting that ive done with the tech’s at ANET its pointed to the Transgaming wrapper that they use for the client. I have emailed support again since my issue is still unresolved (started june 16th)

Has nothing to do with my drivers nor my hardware as all are updated regularly by Apple. I have a brand new 27" iMac (next to the top of the line one) and had not had any issues until June 16th and have steadily increased to the point now that I crash at least once per hour. I have given up trying to world bosses, cf and other fun things.

edit Drivers are up to date with each OSX update. Checked with Apple techs

Mac issues with Transgaming Wrapper

This is not a new issue for many yet increased in frequency since the June patch. I have done all the trouble shooting with the lead tech on my issue that began June 16th and to this day is still unresolved. We have done extensive testing and trouble shooting and determined my brand new top of the line 27" iMac is not the issue. No hardware/video issues at all. Ive been on the line with Apple Support as well and 90% of all crash reports are related to the Transgaming Cider threads. After last weeks update I am now down to about 30 mins to 1hr between crashes. I cant even keep buffs from the Silverwastes due to the crashes.

I am a loyal customer/player and very active every day. Not to mention the amount of money I spend each month in the gemstore.

After about two months of trouble shooting I got an email saying pretty much “sorry deal with it you will see updates on the beta client in patch notes”. That was harsh that the devs didnt seem to care.

One of the main issues we found when speaking with Apple was the fact that there is a HUGE memory leak with the wrapper. I may only have 8GB ram but as soon as I start GW 2 i drop to 4gb then just before I crash i have less than 130mb (yes MB) free memory and the wrapper becomes unstable and crashes.

Nothing else is running in the background either (only Steelseries engine and this issue was before I got the Steelseries gaming accessories)Ive turned off every possible thing and I shouldnt have to do that.

I am not the only one with this problem either and have seen many instances on forums with this same issues.

My honest question is when will ANET look into the issues with the “beta” client and update it properly? Or am I just wasting my time?

The tech I was working with was awesome and very respectful and patient.

My issue case is #1579868
