For the purposes of aesthetics ? Maybe having 2h weapons reach all the way down the knees all the time would be horrendous, yet having a larger weapon while wielding it looks better. In any case i much prefer it if the size was that of the one on the back all the time. What about yourself?
As much as I’ve enjoyed the lore, animations and enviroments of the sylvari, (or maybe because I enjoy it so much that this bugs me all the more) I’ve noticed an issue with weapons changing size depending on if they are sheathed or unsheathed.
Created a new warrior to test it out.
Having a mouse look toggle would be nice. It is tiring and distracting to hold down the rmb for hours on end.
The game already has auto-targetting in place, which definitely works when rmb is held down and you’re looking directly at the target, so why not just add a toggle option and give the players a choice of (optional) reticles to choose from?
I’m fairly certain this would let players who suffer from RSI more easily. I certainly would love to play more (and spend more) on gw2 if there wasn’t this need to hold down the RMB. If a game which is supposed to be entertainment causes you to stop playing because of pain in a short period of time (15 minutes) then it is questionable how much time and money one would spend on the game.
I’m pretty sure I could have done that when I was in the middle of my teens, but that is some time past and it’s getting to be a bit more serious than a nuisance to do that now =| and from the locked thread which spanned 363 replies I think a fair amount of people feel the same way.
I’m not going to discuss the combat mode mod, since I’ve been following the dev answers on it and they’ve been vague(or thread locked) at best.
So how about it? Wouldn’t you like to try a gw2 where you can mouse look freely without having to hold a button down?
glider like this screenshot.
Oh that’s ArcheAge? Looks pretty sweet.
In terms of suggestions, would definitely like a mouselook toggle similar to the combat mode mod that literally is just a right mouse button toggle, so that we don’t have to hold the right mouse button down whenever we need to turn our character, as it gets annoying and distracting after a while.
Another improvement would be to force center the mouse when we hold the RMB. Can’t name the number of times I miscast my aoe because I have quick cast on and the rmb was held down on the top of the screen (Also because when the RMB is held down the mouse cursor disappears).
Whenever there are particle effects, it’s really hard to find the cursor, not sure what can be done to improve this. Having a targetting reticle in the middle of the screen might work.
In fact the mechanics of this is already in the game as some people have pointed out. Simply turn on auto targetting, hold down the right mouse button down, look towards a mob and attack, the only thing that this combat mode really brings is a toggle, which is very helpful for people who get wrist pains.

Already did before posting that, if you read the quote I posted it referred to the generic reply being superseded by the Gray reply, the Gray reply being promising.
As I’ve said before I really want this to be a acknowledged officially one way or the other.

any news on this yet? I could have sworn I saw a post by a CM on the 21st of sept saying that he’ll forward this to the team.
First of all there are a handful of targeting bugs that we are addressing right now.
Once those are solved we will try and design a stickier targeting option for those players that want to keep their target a little bit better.
Personal tip since this happens to me a lot. I lose my target a lot because I am ground targeting and click a bunch of times to fire it off, after the skill has fired, the subsequent left clicks end up deselecting. I have started using my mouse to aim, but double tapping any ground target skills on the keyboard which has mitigated a lot of my issues.
Jon
Hi Jon, I think it would be much appreciated if you could let us know if there is a mouse look option for targetting in the works as mentioned in this suggestion thread (which quite a number of us really hope to either use it or have it implemented officially : https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Combat-UI-improvements/first)
The reason is that while games like FFXI and Wow are fine with the hold the Right Mouse Button down mouselook option, the combat in GW2 is much more reactive and of a much faster pace, that I find that I simply have difficulty playing GW2 after a while because of having to hold the RMB down all the time.
Targetting and maintaining the target is another issue, as tab targetting cycles through the target which may not be the one i’m looking at, and often times is a bit hard to tell which mob i have targetted.
Thanks again for your hard work!
@Jay.9407 As far as I can tell you can play using the mod full screen with no loss in fps (not windowed), the only thing you’ll be missing is the mouse cursor overlay, which depending on the profession you play may not be a big deal at all.
ArenaNet, I do hope you’re working on an official implementation of this!
@Jay.9407 the kotaku article references a community coordinator 6 days ago (17/09/2012). If you had followed the url link, you would have found a supposed email communications with Gaile Gray that eventually gave the go ahead.

I would prefer it if there was some official explanation or post on this, rather than just an email chain copy pasted onto reddit, but RSI doesn’t wait.
Can an Anet mod comment if they can or are working on something like this if they don’t approve of the combat mod?
+1 on this. I posted before asking for mouselook, and this looks and feels exactly what we need. Because of having to hold down the right mouse button all the time to mouselook is so 2004.
I jest. But seriously, holding down the right mouse button to mouselook all the time does not help with wrist pains.
+1
Really. Want. Toggable mouselook. If only to stop my hand from balling up in a fist of pain.
+2 if you can also add a rudimentary crosshair for targetting and aiming. I’m really, really tired of holding down the right mouse button.
Hi, I’ve been having the same problems of being stuck in the loading screen, and eventually getting the error code 7:11:3:189:101 .
Tried the clientport workaround (windows 7 64bit), so far it seems to have fixed it.
I suppose i should try port forwarding the ports found here : http://en.support.guildwars2.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8994/~/error-codes
I had assumed I had done enough port forwarding for most games since doing it for TF2 and L4D2, apparently not =)
Hello,
I have also experienced a similar issue.(EU side) Previously I’ve had intermittent issues with being stuck on the loading screen of an area (eg Metrica Province) and yet being able to hear the background sound effects of footsteps / attack and ambient sound.
Yesterday (between 2000 gmt to 2230gmt) was the evening where I had the most issues. I had been partied up with a friend, and when i tried to join in on his overflow instance, it resulted in either being stuck in the loading screen similar to the above, or loading into his instance, being able to see his portrait (instead of a blacked out shadow) and yet it would appear I am desynced from the game, as nothing moves, I can’t use any of my skills/attacks, and I eventually after some time get the message that I have lost connection to the server. Note that I was on skype with my friend all the time, and I had access to the internet while the disconnection was going on( eg can use Reddit, bbc news etc).
I also noticed after helping him with his story instance, I would get desynced and disconnected after leaving his story instance, and if I recall correctly this happened at least 3 out of 3 times.
Relogging in from that point tends to be lottery, I can log onto my other characters fine, but logging into that particular character that was partied up with my friend before the disconnection often results in me stuck in the loading screen, before I force quite with alt-f4 and try again. Eventually I am able to get in, but it seems I need to see the timeout error message before I can log in again.
Hoping this helps!
