Renegade: The Good?

There was an interesting effect with sevenshot when you had instant cast ground targeting and allow retargeting checked in options that would have the arrows cross at your cursor rather than meeting at the end range of the skill. I found a post on the forums here about it and honestly, that changed the whole feel of the skill and it was a lot more fun to use as well as being quite functional at close range.

So i have never played with those settings so i had no idea this was possible before I saw this thread. I gotta say that it makes the skill feel a lot more functional and rewarding to use. I have been a rev main since they came out, and while I am still a little disappointed with how renegade turned out, this skill is now one of my favorites in the game due to the settings you guys pointed out. Thanks, and hopefully they are reading all the feedback and will implement this as baseline for everyone.

Passive defenses are nice and all for survival but are secondary to learning and knowing the fight when it comes to raids. You can run a full glass DPS class and be fine with active defenses like blocks and dodging (but dodging is an exploit I hear). Not standing where you shouldn’t and avoiding the large hits are what take skill in the raid, instead of building gear to just stand there and go get a drink while you tickle the bosses to death.

From what they have posted in several areas I have seen, they know about the hammers getting destroyed on walls and the wording seemed like they meant for that. They do however also get destroyed if you are on uneven terrain at times which is not intended and it has been brought to their attention.

Question about sword main hand

in Revenant

Frogger.2375

If you look through the forums you will see a lot of this. Revenant sword is the only weapon in the game that gets weaker when there are multiple targets around. Thematically, the sword is supposed to be about singling a target out and bursting them down. Sadly, sword 5 can be difficult to land and is the only real way to distance one target from others so sword 2 & 3 can get all hits on the same target. It is great on paper, but the implementation was off and it is noticeable to anyone playing rev for any decent amount of time. They did reduce the range on the sword 2 skill in the latest patch which is a nerf or a buff depending on your point of view.

Current meta for raids?

While DPS is king and will always be important, most of the fights deal more with mechanics than anything else. If you have a good group of players all doing their job, then as long as you survive the DPS should be there. I run with a group of friends and we usually have 2 revenants in the raid, not optimal sure, but we still get all 6 bosses each week.

Revenant needs revamp.

In early beta there was no weapon swap. Players rebelled. Between that and preset tiny lists of utilities, the profession was boring and confined (it didn’t help that dwarf and demon were the only two legends ready at that point). They could have greatly expanded the utility pool, but that would have been much harder to balance. So they added weapon swap, making players super happy — just go back to the posts from that time to see the jubilation.

I like weapon swapping. It’s one reason I don’t enjoy Ele and Engie so much, I feel locked in. I like being able to swap out for different situations on the fly, or just to get more cooldowns ready. In some professions, constant weapon swapping is integral to play, not impractical.

I admit I’m only just now working on my first Revenant and he’s only in his 20’s. I haven’t yet unlocked enough to really feel out the use of various weapon sets, especially in conjunction with full legend and trait choice. But I did test the profession out in beta and I found the weapon swapping added a lot of choice. Too much, at the time, I had issues remembering which legend/weapon pair I was in at a given moment and tended to hit the wrong skill button a lot. That’s just my L2P the profession issue, though. It’s why I’m not insta-80’ing him, I am working my way into things. But even at this low level, weapon swap is helping a lot.

I understand you. Howsoever, Revenant has more than 2 invocations and nobody uses/plays them. This is serious issue Im afraid, aside swap concept.

Different situations call for different weapons, weapon swap on Revenant is needed. As for Jalis and Malax not being used, this game is a DPS race. There are very few cases that require you to Tank(Jalis) or where things only take condition damage(Malax). They are like unused weapons. Like War horn on warrior. You never see a warrior using it. It offers nothing that’s not done better, and you lose DPS by using one. Every class has at least one weapon that’s not used, or used by a very small percentage of players. Every class suffers from this, Revenant is no different, its just legends are more utility skills. And some skills are better than others. There are skills on all classes that I have never used. And most people have probably never used.

I agree but on those classes you have lots of available choices to use for your skillbar and can swap them around to get the best set of utilities for your build. The problem with the rev is that you have no choice in utilities once you chose your legends. Yes, you do have more utilities than other classes in your build thanks to legend swapping, but overall we have the least number of utilities as each legend only has 3. The class would go a long ways towards improving if each legend got another utility to choose from to put on the bar. For dungeons and raids, Mallyx and Jalis are only used for the upkeep skills 95% of the time until you swap back into Glint. More options in legend utilities would also open up much more diverse builds and make the class a lot less predictable in pvp and wvw.

Raid story isn’t different from any other part of story in the game. Want to experience it fully? PLAY IT!
If you exclude yourself by simply refusing to learn, adapt and play to any part of this game then you obviously can’t expect to have the full experience of it. It is a game, not a story book, and I honestly can’t understand how it is such a big deal to group up with other people in an mmo.

You are completely missing the point people are making here. It’s the fact that some people just do not have the time to put into raiding, which for some would have to be quite a bit due to lack of skill in order to see this content. Content which due to GW1 we are heavily interested and invested in. Like many people posting in here, I raid and will see this content for myself eventually, but for many this is not the case and putting this kind of desired content in raids is not appropriate. I’m wicked excited to fight him and I’m sure the fight will be amazing, but for the majority of people this will have to be seen on a woodenpotatoes video rather than in game which just isn’t right.

DPS meter [Merged]

A dps meter is just a tool for people to use, it is not inherently good or evil. It’s what you do with it that counts. Someone picks up a hammer and uses it to build a house. Someone else throws it at the person next to them. And a third picks up a bunch of different hammers to see which is the best for pounding nails. Sure some people will use a dps meter to discriminate but do you want to play with those kinds of people anyway? It’s the same when people complain about people who stand on a certain pole in a swamp, if that’s not your play style then make your own group.
