It is legitimate, you agreed not to swear, use faul language and so on. You did click I Agree when you started to play, didn’t you?
That chat filter is not a licence to swear (do some searching in the forums). I did turn it off and yes if someone find it funny to use the f* word in every line he or she types, I will report.
The answer is in the thread just a few messages below.

Try Urban Dictionary?
From naming policy: Reference sexual acts or real life violence
Erm…. Urban Dictonary.… That would be “Reference sexual acts or real life violence” I think
(edited by Fu Ling U.6918)
I love this one, but I think it will give you a ban when detected…… (>>going to find those old boxes with lego again<<)
All’s fair in love and war…. but this one sucks. I don’t think Anet is going to help you out here. Sorry.
Scornheart at Hooligan’s Route in Lion’s Arch can create a new one (for free), if for some reason you did not get it originally. (Wiki.)
My point being, they turned them off, then got offended by my language which would be blocked automatically otherwise. And then anonymously reported me and kittened over my weekend.
I had to turn that filter off (my native language is not english and that filter did give me some trouble). It would be nice if you realise that there could be a very good reason for some people to turn that filter off. I’m not amused when I see people cursing and swearing to other people and I will report them (erm…. depending on the language used and agains who that is).
Behave yourself and this won’t be happening to you…. You won’t get a suspension for a slip of the tongue, you have to do some more to get that.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/banned-for-335-hours/first#post1769018
From Gaile last post it looks like his vacation may be a bit longger
He asked if his suspension could be lifted… A-net did just that and gave him a perma ban instead :P See, they do listen to users and go even further. Love this one hahaha.
Mass report won’t work, so I don’t think that is the reason. Maybe someone reported you a little while ago and the staf acted on that report today.
Gaile is doing some ‘name and shame’ in a mild manner at the moment. If you didn’t do anything, you will be fine (mistakes happen), if not I guess Gaile will point you in the right direction (I love that part Gaile, keep on going)
Dont belive this post was for you.
Yes it was. If you don’t want comments from other players…. file a ticket and do not post in a forum I am a player who enjoys the game, never had a suspension (and yes occasionaly I have a slip of the tongue ingame).
You made a mistake, don’t blame me (or a-net, or the one reported you, or anyone else) for it…. If you had taken some time to read the forum, you found many posts from players that are whining for their suspension and pointing to the ingame filters. Anet reacts always in the same way: The filter is no license to swear
And I’m happy with it… as are many players. Please read and understand the EULA and the rules of conduct and if you don’t agree with it, just don’t click accept and return the game.
Theres more professional methods such as in game muting temporarily. A-net has yet to figure out something genius like that though.
You are free to discus you idea’s here. But I think if A-net did mute you for 72 hours, you came here anyway to demand that your where unmuted or else …..
Ok, let me think… You screw up, you got a suspension and yet you demand that you can continue playing or else…. Please A-net lift the suspension for this nice person In no time he has enough reports for a permanent ban.
That ‘filter’ thingy is NOT a license to swear (as stated many times in this forum). In fact, I had to turn the filter off. And yes, I will report people for using offensive language. You agreed to play the game by the rules, so don’t cry if you receive a suspension for breaching the rules
- oh lol, he just totally changed the previous post
Also they are not allowed to deny me from playing for something I paid for, thats why all games, they mute people temporarily for 72 hours for offenses.
Only way they can deny you access to playing the game if you perform an illegal act such as hacking or using illegal 3rd party software.
Yes they can (and they do as you found out)…. in fact, you did agree with it when you accepted the EULA
Guild Wars 2 Conduct Breaches & Outcomes:
•If an unacceptable guild name or guild acronym (“tag”) is noted or reported, a mark will be placed on the guild creator’s account. The guild will be reset to “0? on the Guild Ladder and will be unable to issue challenges; the only option will be to dissolve the guild. There is no option for renaming a guild at this time.
You can find the complete tekst here…
Same here Pumpkin Carving 0/1, I did earn this one too!
Why on earth would you get banned for extended unattended play…whatever that means…
I think that means that you try to avoid the build in timer in GW2. If you are inactive for an hour you will kicked out of the game. Some people don’t like that
Bought the game and now it's now $15 cheaper!

You won’t get a discount, please read this topic
Nope, just bad luck I guess. You can upgrade but it will cost you 2000 gems ingame (and no, you won’t get the Wizard’s Hat this way).
How do we get this hat if we already own the Deluxe Edition?
Buying a new copy of GW DDE from the store will get you the hat.
(edited by Moderator)
where were we supposed to get the hat???
You can find the info about the Celebration Hat here. It was announced on several places
Use a 64-bit Windows version.
A-net should solve this memory problem with 32-bit Windows versions. Or just stop saying that it will run on a 32-bit windows (It will run, but it will crash in many cases). Too many people with a 32 bit version have this error. I lost count in this forum already for this problem
Upgrade to a 64-bits Windows version, it solved the same problem here
But we got some nice things: 3 days head-start, a nice Hero’s Band ánd a free nice looking Celebration Hat
Use a 64-bit windows version. Solved the problem for me and many others….
Anet still don't have a char recovery system.

@Loli
Oh that would be nice… someone got his account hacked, the hacker sold the stuff to an other player (who does not know that the account was hacked). Anet rolls back and the player that bought the items has nothing left… And what to do about items that where sold to the Black Lions trader? It is just not realistic to remove items from the game.
If it is the first ‘offense’ : let the user changed the name (or change it for him/her).
Second time: suspend account and change the name.
Don’t know if it is true, but I did hear that there are some names that where refused in GW2 and allowed in GW1. That would be confusing.
I hope nobody has any problems with my character names in GW2, someone pointed out that the first part is an abbriviation for … (sorry, can’t type it in the forums). If people feel offended about my name, so be it. But I think they a) don’t read very well and b) they have no sense of humor.
If A-net at some point decide that it is a name that doesn’t apply with the GW2 rules, so be it (I have to rename 8 characters then). I will point out that I use that name in GW1 for many years. After that: I take a 3 day rest, do some reading, watch some tele, go to my mother… after all, it is not the end of the world.
I am using a Logitech G13 an G15v2 combination here. I bind almost every key used to play GW1 or GW2 to my G15 using the Logitech software. Never had any problem with it in GW1 or GW2.
In the past I did wrote to GW1 support about the use of the G13/G15 and this was the answer that I got:
You asked if your programmable keyboard was acceptable to use for playing Guild Wars. “What if…?” questions such as this are always tough to answer, because they have not happened yet. Nevertheless, I’ll try to give you an understanding of what we might consider “right” and “wrong” when interacting with our service as it related to your new keyboard.
Using your programmable keyboard as a normal keyboard would certainly be fine. A keyboard is a basic tool that is virtually required to operate a computer and use our service. Each time you press a key, one character is typed or one action is made to happen and, in general, that is acceptable.
If you were somehow able to use your programmable keyboard to fully automate your gameplay experience, especially to the point where you did not have to attend your computer while your keyboard software “played” the game for you, then that would be considered against our User Agreement and subject to disciplinary action. (“You agree not to use any hardware or software, including but not limited to third party tools, or any other method of support which may in any way influence or advantage your use of the Service which is not authorized by NC Interactive, including but not limited to the use of ‘bots’ and/or any other method by which the Service may be played automatically without human input.”)
Somewhere in between those two scenarios is a grey area. We can’t make any “final judgments” on any grey area actions that have not yet occurred, and we will not speculate on all possible grey area scenarios and their outcomes. In general, please make sure that you are at your computer and playing your game. Ultimately, it is of utmost important to us that each character being played in Guild Wars is being operated by an actual person.
We know this doesn’t provide a definitive rule that covered all possible scenarios, but still hope this helps your understanding of “helping one play” versus “playing for you” and what we would consider acceptable.
The rules about this are almost the same in gw1 and gw2. I dont think there will be a better answer from A-net.
in that case dark revan they shouldnt have profanity filter open if they take offence easily. thats my opionion.
That filter is nice for enlish speaking people, but I don’t think swearing in Dutch (and other languages not supported by Anet) is filtered out And yes, I will report players for swearing without reason. There are just some players that use kitten in every line they type.
I have turned the filter off, because there are some normal Dutch words that are not ok, according to the profanity filter.
Your best option would be: use a 64bits version of Vista Please read the discussion about the same problem here .
spam political debate in LA its ok but no swearing!

@rinny tin sin
Did you ever consider that this filter isn’t of much use for people that don’t speak English? I turned it off, because sometimes that filter shows —- for perfectly normal words or names in my language. Just that there is a filter is no reason to swear in a chat. You are not the only one around, and English is not the only language spoken in map chat! It is not to you to say that people can ‘turn that filter on’ because you can’t behave yourself
Don’t think you can get back that deleted character.
You are aware that you may not share your account wiht others? They can give a ban for that….

“Bottom line is, if you have 4GB of RAM, there’s no valid reason for not running a 64-bit OS,”
I know a very good reason: my tv-card (PVR-150) does not work with a 64-bit windows version with 4GB or more memory installed

@reboot: It solved my problem, after I switched to 64bit I got rid of those errors (the only reason I stayed on 32-bit was my tv-card, it doesn’t support windows 64 bit with 4GB or more memory)

About the 3gb switch. For more information please read AND understand this article http://blogs.technet.com/b/askperf/archive/2007/03/23/memory-management-demystifying-3gb.aspx
Also be aware of the code of conduct under point 8: You may not modify any part of the Guild Wars 2 client or server software. Also, you may not modify any part of the official Guild Wars 2 websites, other than the official Guild Wars 2 Wiki in accordance with its terms and conditions.
You will patch the client witn 4gb_patch.zip (not sure if a-net likes that one)

No problems here, using the G13 and the G15 without a glitch…. are you using the latest drivers from Logitech (version 8.35.18 here)
