Hi people,
So been playing the game for a little now and I started off as an ele pre HoT, and I loved it. After the release, I was struggling with my ele as it was just your usual “zerker staff ele”which just generally got two shot by various things in the jungle (arrows, poison, pounces etc etc etc). As you can imagine that was quite frustrating and I found myself getting very bored and irritated with the class.
So what did I do? Well firstly I watched one of the videos WoodenPotatoes made (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3heA0G9TeR4). That got me thinking…wouldn’t it be cool to have all those auras running about and you still outputting a decent amount of damage whilst not getting two shot? Well this is what I did.
Firstly I changed my armor+weapons (dagger/warhorn) and took sinister stats with “Superior Runes of Radiance” and your standard weapon sigils.
Secondly for my amulet, rings and accessories I took a mix of stats that includes (power, vitality and condi) and (power, prec, toughness).
BUILD: The build is basically the same as WP’s with a few minor changes:
Earth – Elemental Shielding, Strength of Stone, Diamond Stone/Stone Heart
Water – Soothing Ice, Aquamancer’s Training, Powerful Aura
Tempest – Unstable Conduit, Tempestuous Aura, Elemental Bastion.
So that’s it…I am having a blast with this build especially in the jungle. It has actually made me want to revisit my ele constantly.
This post is primarily for those finding it difficult in the jungle. I was in your position and I know it can be quite frustrating so thought I would do a little something for the community.
If you have any fun tempest builds that you’re having a blast with in the jungle please let the rest of us know. I am sure many would like to try out different play styles.
NOTE: This build (at least for me) has not been tested in PvP or WvW so I am not sure how it’ll hold up in those scenarios. This build is primarily based on PvE circumstances.
In the (final?) fight against Modremoth I believe the fight is glitchy. I died but got to 3rd phase, once I went back in he retains all his 1st, 2nd and 3rd phase abilities but I have to start from the beginning again. Is this how it was designed originally?
So with all the BWE and with all the changes that are currently occurring with the elementalist (icebow,scepter etc) I just wanted people’s opinions on whether or not they think Elementalists will have a spot in a raiding group?
I haven’t been playing the game for long and started off with elementalist. I was planning on going through the next xpac with this class and was going to jump into raiding but it seems as though ANet are really nerfing elementalists hard at the moment.
The scepter “buff” seems to be pretty lackluster and so does the elite specialization too (although the changes that ANet are making seem to be going in the right direction, for now). The nerf to the icebow was pretty massive (I am of the opinion that it needed to be tweaked…not to that extent though).
With all the other benefits and cool things that other classes are getting I am currently thinking maybe moving onto Necro to play some Reaper, when HoT comes out is what I’ll do. Any thoughts?
P.S Whilst I dabble in PvP and WvW for dailies, I would hardly consider myself a ‘hardcore’ gamer for that mode of play, so would be nice to get a reply strictly in terms of PvE environments (Dungeons,Fractals,Raids).

Same here, I tried to uninstall the client and then reinstall but same problem. Sad times…now I’ll have to wait and download the whole thing again. Sigh….
