Most of this price increase revolves around players that are pushing the value up due to the players willingness to pay more. If players are willing to pay more for an item, it’s going to keep increasing until eventually it hits a ceiling for the commodity. We’ve seen the same thing occur with numerous commodities over time.
Right now there is a consistent supply of mystic coins entering the game (way more than are being consumed) and churning through the trading post at a very slow rate. Most of the coins on the market are ones that have been flipped.
In retrospect, this is actually causing the daily login reward to be worth significantly more to players who wish to convert mystic coins to gold.
Chris, the economy is getting out of hand. Casual players like myself are being left behind, unable to fully enjoy game content. You NEED to consider all players, not just full timers playing 4-8 hours a day. Casual players want to craft stuff too. Casual players want to get into fractals and Raids too. I cant earn enough gold to enjoy this game anymore.
This is the only game I’ve ever played that made me feel bad when I play I ‘feel’ poor which is a horrible feeling. Too much pressure to earn gold. I feel a pressure to grind gold 6 out 7 days a week. I cant “earn” anything. I can only grind gold and buy materials at inflated prices. Guild Wars 2 feels like work now. Actually, its worse than real work cause I get nothing tangible like money. Arena Net’s screwing around with drop rates and recipes has been a disaster for casual and new player. I don’t have hope either. I dont think I’ll be logging in anymore. Womp Womp.
Dear Arena Net,
Many of us Veteran players have been in the same server since we purchased the game. When I first started up Guild Wars 2, I was asked to pick a server world. I made this decision before getting to play the game, find friends, and before joining a guild. After a couple months of playing, I joined a great guild. 80%+ of all the guild members were on the same server. Now only 15% are on the same server.
This has been a couple years. Guilds and guild members come and go. The WvW experience suffers when friends and guilds are split up over a variety of WvW servers. We stuck to it anyways. We played with whoever we could. We even payed more Gems to switch servers when we lost our friends or when guilds moved.
Since the launch of Heart of Thorns, I find myself losing interest in WvW, like many players have already stated in the forums before. I’d love to get back in to WvW. For me, I don’t play WvW, because my friends cant play with me. I cant participate in WvW Guild Missions, because there are not enough of us on the same server. At this time, I’d rather ignore the entire WvW aspect of the game, than to buy more Gems so that I can switch servers and regroup with my friends.
New players and Free 2 Play players all get to pick servers as they join the game for the first time. Free 2 Play players have the best options. They can test out the game, make friends, find a guild, all before buying the game and chosing the WvW server that suits them best. They get the best deal! All of us Veteran players are still stuck in the servers we chose years ago. We’re asked to pay to switch. We have the worst deal.
I think it would be a very nice gesture by Arena Net to allow all of us Veteran Players who payed for Heart of Thorns, a 1-time server switch for free (or a 1 time per year switch!). Give us a chance to regroup with our friends and guild mates on the battlefield. We are dedicated players, and we are obviously dedicated to the Guild Wars franchise. I think it would be fare to let us switch once for free. I’m tired of being alone in WvW, away from my friends and Guild mates. This gesture towards Veterans who bought the game and expansion over the years, could be the spark to revive WvW for many servers, guilds, and players. Give us a chance to regroup. Help us revive WvW. It can’t be done with programming alone. The success of WvW is because of active players, not the game coding or new maps.
Throw us Vets a bone. Let us switch servers and regroup with our friends and guilds. I really do think its only fare. We’ve stuck with you over the years. We bought the expansion just like a new player. All I want now, is the chance to play WvW with my friends, without having to pay for more Gems.

I renamed my ‘Gw2.dat’ file. When I launched my game, It re-downloaded the client/updates. This fixed my connection issue. Its a big 25 gb file and will take along time to download. Mine was playable after about 20 minutes. No reason to wait for a repair, when it can be fixed in less than an hour by yourself.
If its not possible to code, I’d be okay with just a Mini of my character. I’m sure everyone wants a mini of my toon……
I want a Mini Me. I want a special Mini that is the small version of character/toon. If my character changes its outfit, so does Mini Me.
I logged in last night but did not get an email from Arena Net about the new History Lesson of Living World Season 1. Not sure why, but it doesnt show up in my story tab either. I hope its a bug
I missed Living world season 1 and 2. I have no idea what the story is. I am missing all the lore, which leaves me indifferent about future expansions. I’m out of the loop. This sucks in my opinion. I buy a game but am left hunting down stories on 3rd party sites to make sense of what is going on.
I would love it if Arena Net compiled ALL cut scenes from ALL episodes of LW season 1 into a nice long video. This would really help me understand what I’ve missed and better understand what is happening in Season 2. I have now bought season 2, but the story leaves me scratching my head since I missed so much.
Arena Net, could you do us newer players and give us access to cut scenes and videos from old content that is no longer available? The story and lore is obviously important to you, Guild Wars, future expansion, and all other players. Its nice to see the story progress, but it leaves many of us left in the dark since this content is gone forever.
In the Grove point of interest, House of Caithe, there is a bugged trophy and table in the instance. Enter the instance in from of House of Caithe and interact with the front table. You get a bugged code instead of actual text. After clicking through the dialog box, you will get a bugged trophy for you collection. Here’s the trophy text:
