I don’t see how this is Anet’s issue. I’d say it’s a personal issue, myself, since you’re being sensitive.

We have both males and females in my guild, and we call each other all sorts of kitten over teamspeak— and laugh at it. Don’t take everything so seriously.

Y’all need to stop and think about this ‘my server/your server’ stuff. All servers are made up of essentially the same types of people: gamers. Claiming one server is a weak willed bunch of bandwagoners is absolutely stupid. Those weak willed badnwagoners or just gamers like you and me. And they’re only a small part of a server.

I often wonder what it would be like if they’d chosen different names for the servers. Or given us less servers to choose from. I bet anything that we’d all be playing with a very different group of players, but claiming the exact same things.

The people you say all these negative things about were a name change away from being your best buddies in game. Plain and simple, I bet they could secretly swap the players in one major guild with the players from another and without TS or mumble, no one would know it.

Harping on coverage is one thing. That’s real. But saying one server is the hard working good guys and another is a bunch of devious front running lazy bad people is just nonsense. We’re gamers. The servers are no more than name tags. We all could have ended up on different servers and not noticed much of a difference.

I have to disagree with you. There are some serious bandwagon riders on the T1 servers, there always has been. Whereas most of us may be called similar people, some of us actually take pride in a server we’ve been with since the start. A lot of people get annoyed when guilds transfer to a high tier server they did nothing for, just to say they’re in a high tier.

Actually, we’re on Blackgate and could save you the costs of transferring. [Gods] is recruiting anyone who considers their focus to be WvW for, well, WvW of course. We run nightly, and our presence in T1 has grown considerably over the past few weeks as we gain commanders and members.

We have a teamspeak 3 channel, 125+ members right now, and an active community. Our sense of humor can get a little weird, if not offensive at times, so keep that in mind.

I’d love to have you in my guild. We’re mainly WvW based, but we run dungeons and do world bosses daily just for different reasons. We tend to be online during every kind of timezone, but we schedule around U.S central time. The schedules aren’t like a work kind of thing, but more “try to be on for WvW tonight at this time!” Our members love to help people learn the ropes of the game, whether it be for WvW, class strategies/builds, spvp, gearing, etc. We’ve trained several members who’ve become great in WvW already.

We have a growing presence in our server’s WvW, and we’re trying to have a bigger presence.

The Dead Gods [Gods] on Blackgate are looking for serious WvW players to join us in T1 for nightly WvW! Schedules are relaxed, and participation is not required, just heavily encouraged.

We are based in central U.S time, but we have people from the western U.S, and all over too. We have a teamspeak, and a growing community of 100+ members— we’re just looking for more who will be active in WvW on a nightly basis, if possible.

Several commanders are in the guild, and they have a lot of experience leading. If someone joins the guild and they show leadership potential, we’ve been known to help them pay for their commander tag. Keep in mind this is rare, and you have to be kitten good to warrant that.

Occasionally, I’ll record our forays into the battlefield and put them up on youtube for others to watch, in the guild or out. Here’s an example!

We do run dungeons and world bosses, but not as often as PvX guilds. You can usually find a member who wants to run with someone, though!

We try to have fun, more than we try to be serious. Don’t let that ward you off, we push for points and towers and keeps— but we first and foremost try to maintain an enjoyable environment.

Tier 1 is serious business guys. Honestly, if guilds left Blackgate to hop to another T1 server (addressing the rumors flying that we have a few leaving to SoR) all the better, in my opinion. Bandwagon riders are the worst. Stay with a server you want to see succeed, and contribute to its success, or its push therein. That’s where the fun is. Not hopping to a good server to say, “I’m on top!”

So this is like the 16th time the trolls predicted BG was dead and imploding and the 16th time they were wrong.

Just cause your no lifes stayed up and played WvW for the last 2 days while others visited family and other Easter things, doesn’t mean BG isn’t about to implode. Youve PVDoored for almost 2 days now, and youre barely in the lead, seems like you should be higher.

Last week’s match BG had almost no one logging on for some reason and doomsday prophets predicted the end of the server. But now, no one is predicting the end of SoR or JQ

JQ and SOR didn’t lose 2 or 3 guilds as well as 2 of their most notable commanders, BG did.

Woah, woah, woah, you can’t be serious in thinking that the loss of two guilds means the loss the of the server. Some people have really stepped up this week— notable commanders I’ve seen on anytime I am include Kurthos, Sir Tryce, Malevolent Omen, and many more. All of which who’ve led us exceedingly well. Wish I knew their account names so I could give them better recognition, but there you go. Everyone’s been extremely communicative as far as cross-map chat has gone, and everyone’s put in great effort to win this week.

Don’t feel bad, JQ, you still have a few days to catch up, and if you’re as good as the more “passionate” of you say you are, then you should be able to knock us out easily by the end of the week’s match.

Admittedly, I jumped the gun with assuming that the attitude was taken by most of the server, and I sincerely apologize for that. I was more trying to give an example of what I heard rather than call out a specific guild for it, which is what it seems I did. It was a first-time run in with talking to people from [MERC] and everyone was friendly, cooperative, and etc besides that, so I was by no means saying [MERC] is a bad guild by extension.

Since posting this thread yesterday, and before replying earlier this morning, I talked over a transfer with my co-leader, and we decided against it for a few reasons, one being the gigantic respect we’ve developed for people in AOI, many of them from various guilds within the alliance. Blackgate has some of the most dedicated players I’ve run into on any online community, and it’s made me appreciate the server a lot more as a whole, due to that dedication. We’ve been working along a lot of those guilds in SoR BL here lately, and it’s been great fun.

What guilds are looking down on others? Send me a tell in-game so I can get in contact with the GM’s, because to be honest small guilds are essential to the success of the server. Anyways if you do chose to move I’d recommend ET because they need the numbers all round, and good luck

I would like to reply to every post that needs one at once, but I have no idea how all these forum buttons and springs and contraptions do, so it’ll be one at a time, unfortunately.

I appreciate your post, but it was actually someone from [MERC] that said it. Backstory: I logged on to command two mornings ago, around 6am-7am central U.S time. I was told in commander chat that Blackgate needed one, so I headed in there. Everything’s going alright, as best as you can hope for in the morning during the lull between SEA and U.S playing time.

There was a guild running around separate from my group, about five or six of them with said guild, running havoc south while we tried to take back our northern towers and Garrison.

Someone in teamspeak mentioned they should be with our group, since we were already minimally sized as it was. While I agreed with him, I said, “At the very least, it’s nice to have a small group running havoc to give us time to do what we need to do.” To which a different person replied, “Havoc parties are just small guilds pretending they actually do something around here.”

I’ll leave it at that. As for the person elsewhere in the thread who mentioned not needing a commander tag for leading your guild around— I agree completely. I’ve noticed too many strange command chains in BG BL lately especially. It’s called for in SoR BL, due to how hard we’re holding the hills right now, but I haven’t seen any reason for it in BG half the time. When I’m leading my guild around, and other commanders are up and about, I leave my tag off to avoid confusion.

How about that fight between JQ and BG at the ruins in SoR BL about an hour and a half ago? Wish I had recorded it. Three groups of BG came together under three commanders. One took the south of the ruins to hold, I took the bridge, and another took the north shore while we had an endless back and forth with JQ. We set up trebs and everything to try to take down that wall.

Two commanders pulled back while SoR was taking our southeastern camp, and we figured JQ would sweep across and sandwhich us if all three left, so I stayed behind with my group, pulling off at the last second when scouts said that the SoR zerg was coming in behind us.

I’m really curious, did JQ and SoR collide then? Anyone?

I run a 20/20/0/0/30 shatter build, with a staff and sword/torch. While a shatter build, it focuses more on the potential condition damage I can pull off by combining the staff’s number 5 with The Prestige and the six runes of Balthazar I run. The extra stealth is also nice to get out of fights with, as a commander who gets focused a lot.

The typical combo I run is: Phantasmal Warlock> Staff #2 (name escapes me)> Chaos Storm on target> swap to sword> Prestige> Illusionary Leap> Swap> Blurred Frenzy> Mind Wrack during the frenzy> Blink> Decoy.

The stealth from The Prestige lasts even during abilities, so it keeps me from getting targeted while finishing my combo. The damage stacks from the conditions, warlock burst, blurred frenzy, and mind wrack as a finisher really hurts groups.

Honestly, I appreciate any 2v1’ing that happens. It keeps the game interesting, and running into a three-way battle is probably one of the greatest things that could happen. Hell, one time I was waiting for a caravan to leave a camp, with a SoR player on the other side. We stared at each other, both of us obviously nervous as to the other making a move, and then as the caravan came, we both only targeted it, then went opposite directions. It was a nice moment, really.

And to those on my server who’re calling 2v1 everywhere, keep in mind that after my guild took a camp, a guild from SoR who outnumbered us by a few came down the road, looked at us, a few members waved, then they turned and left. This was in the JQ borderlands. So, obviously, both BG and SoR’s objectives were to disrupt JQ and make them afraid to leave the server. Our guilds had no issue with one another, we were both aiming for the same task.

WvW is free reign to do what comes naturally for the job you’re meaning to complete. If that means letting the enemy of your enemy be your friend for just a moment, then yes, you’ll do that to succeed. Welcome to war.

Great fighting in the Jade’s Quarry borderlands. Had some fun run ins with guilds I’ve never seen before like FP, and then some with EMP. Hope you guys are starting to see the [Gods] tag a bit more out there. That one giant skirmish with the portal bomb at the northern camp was glorious, good job knocking us out of there.

Hey! Maybe you’d consider The Dead Gods on Blackgate. I realize it’s a lot to consider due to the transfer, so I’d understand if you decided against it.

We’re mainly a WvW guild, but we also do dungeons, sPvP, and world bosses in our off time, just for kittens and giggles. We tend to run WvW nightly, if circumstances permit, and we have a teamspeak to communicate on.

We’re pretty laid back about participation— you don’t have to come to a guild event if you don’t want to. I want to call us a casual WvW guild, but that gives the wrong idea.

We take small groups into the borderlands for camp flipping, harassing, and generally just drawing attention away from our larger zerg. The co-leader and I are actually saving up for a commander tag at the moment, so hopefully that’ll be done soon and we can lead large groups ourselves.

Our teamspeak and guild chat can get pretty offensive at times, so be warned about that. It’s never serious, but I could see how it could offend some people.

As for learning your class, the co-leader actually mains an 80 thief right now, so I’m sure he could help you out with that as far as builds, techniques, and all that goes. I’m mentoring a new mesmer we recruited off the forums recently, and it’s going great. We have someone for every class who can help you learn it.

We aren’t terribly large— we have 92 members, and about 15 actively go in and out of WvW with us. See, we started the guild last fall, and then went inactive, so we’re still weeding out the members that went inactive as well.

Our ranking system has 3 ranks, excluding the leader rank. You go up to the second rank by being active either in guild chat or guild activities. You become an officer if you show leadership qualities on a guild run. It’s simple,. and it’s been effective so far.

We’re a close-knit group, with a relaxed schedule. If that sounds good to you, send me a message on the forums, reply on here, or send me something in game and you can ask any question you want!

Here’s a video of us running Wvw recently. Not the most productive, but we have fun doing what we do. Again, warning for potentially offensive language. Which you’ll be hearing plenty of in the guild, haha.

Update: Tried it in sPvP. kitten’s amazing with the runes and sigil added to it. Took on a a GS mesmer and a GS guardian, both rezzing and coming back when they died, and continuing the fight a good 3 rounds without me dying once. The constant burning damage really adds to Chaos Storm from the staff in my off hand. The burst and pressure from sustained DoTs is great. Recommend anyone reading this tries it.

Yup I think it works that way. You will stay stealthed as long as you don’t do direct damage yourself. You can Decoy/Mass Inv/Veil and summon any illusions you want and still be in stealth.

And I love that combo. It easily annihilates a group of people when they are stacked together. Add on Sigil of Fire and have 5th Rune of Balthazar, and you’ll have 3 blasts of fire and dead people around you. It is a beautiful and amazing sight.

That’s awesome. I’ve actually been looking for a use for the runes of Balthazar on a mesmer. And now I realize that it also justifies the extreme amount of condition damage you have to spec in for a shatter build. This is going to make for some great theory crafting potential.

Based off of your dedication to being a productive, friendly member of a guild, we’d love to have you in The Dead Gods on Blackgate. We do things as a guild often, whether it be WvW, sPvP, or just general events. Nothing’s mandatory, you can come to events as often or as rarely as you please.

We have a generally active guild chat, but it could be better. About 30 of our members are active, but they aren’t all talkative. We have a few members who really like to talk, and who we’ve grown close to over time. But hell, we talk about some weird kitten sometimes, haha.

Our promotion system has three ranks under the leader. All ranks have access to the guild vault, guild armor, and guild bonuses like banners and such. The lowest rank is a little limited, but can still withdraw from the bank and take the bonuses. Promotion is based off of activity in the guild. If we see you online often and talking in guild chat, you get promoted to the next rank. If you show leadership in WvW, sPvP, or a dungeon, you become an officer. It’s simple, and it’s worked so far!

We use skype to communicate over voice for now, but we’ll look at getting a teamspeak in the future, in case you care about that thing.

Hey! You said you’d be fine with transfers, so I’ll be straight up and let you know we’re on Blackgate, haha. The name of the guild is The Dead Gods [Gods] and we’re a rather new, up-and-coming WvW guild. A lot of our members are still below 80, but a lot of them also have 80s. So it’s a mixed bag. At peak times we usually have about 12 members on, but that should increase with the member numbers.

We could really use a chatty person, as it seems only a minority in any guild talks that much :p Guild chat is usually pretty strange. The other day we were discussing…well, I can’t say what here. Just trust me when I say that it’s entertaining.

Hey! I actually have a thread up on this forum for my guild. We’re an active, up-and-coming WvW guild, and we’re trying to get more people interested in sPvP. We have a few people, but nowhere near as many as we have in game. We’re friendly as anything, and the most offensive we get is poking fun at each other. Here’s a video example— I tend to record our forays into WvW. We mostly roam to flip camps and disrupt supply, dragging attention away from the main force.

How about that hold out at the Hills in SoR BL last night? 50-so SoR defenders trying to take the Commander’s Room with 20 BG guys defending, and they held out and pushed back, keeping the fort despite the higher numbers of the invaders. kitten was amazing.
