We are recruiting!
Going Postal is a gaming community that has a casual laid back approach mixed with a friendly adult environment. We have a no kitten approach to guild that separates us from the drama and in-house politics.
Who are we?
Going Postal is a well established, semi-casual, gaming community. Within the realm of Guild Wars we are at the heart of the Desolation PVX community. You’ll see us in all walks of the game, from our WvW commanders to our round the clock non-stop dungeon grinders.
Our buzz word is community. Guild Wars 2 does not require you to be freaking awesome at the game to take part and we feel the guild should reflect this philosophy. As a result Going Postal doesn’t care much for how many deeps your Unicorn spewing bow kicks out, or how you solo’d Lupi using a hedgehog to mash against the keyboard. Building a friendly community filled with easy going, game loving people from all walks of life is all we give two sticks about.
What do we offer?
Going Postal is well known on the server for it’s community and social events, which we run alongside our usual PVX content. Our bread and butter involves two Guild Mission events per week, ran Monday & Friday at the same time without fail.
On Sunday we run what is known as our social event. During the week we vote as a guild on games we wish to play on Sunday including:
- Hide & Seek - Your run of the mill, the whole guild hides in an area and one person finds. It caught you joining the hunting group.
- Secret Dance - The opposite of hide & seek, one person hides and everyone else seeks. If someone finds the hider, they hide too and dance until the entire guild is dancing in a hidden corner.
- Pub Quiz - The guild is split into teams and then everyone is given Guild Wars 2 related questions. The team with the most right answers wins!
- Location Quest - The guild is split into teams and then given a selection of ten pictures. They then have to work out each pictures location before the other teams!
- Naked Mile - The entire guild hops on a low level character and gets in the nude. We then race to a high zone, first to arrive with most of their bits intact, wins!
- Fashion Show - Guild Wars 2 is all about the bling right? Before the event people select one of four categories and dress their characters up accordingly ready for a presentation to the rest of the guild.
Seasonal events are an important part of our community. During all major holidays we make sure to provide additional content in the form of contests, competitions, and larger socials offering a chance for everyone to spend time with the guild and win cash shop prizes. This is a tradition was started last Halloween, improved upon, and developed into an event our entire guild looks forward to.
The Halloween just passed we held a bonanza of events:
- A large scale Location Quest based around the pumpkin carving.
- A spooky screenshot competition.
- A huge Halloween social event which fused all our activities.
- A guild event to complete the dreaded Clock Tower.
- A guild event using tonics!
- A pub quiz style game where members had to guess the horror game music in Teamspeak!
- Halloween themed game music playing Teamspeak for the entire event.
What we are looking for
We are notoriously picky when it comes to recruiting. We are hunting down those social types with a smile on their face, and a desire to join a community of gamers with a like minded philosophy!
…But here’s some basic rules!
- We are a mature community so all applicants must be 18+
- Must have and be able to use Teamspeak 3
- Must speak fluent English
- A positive and laid back attitude
- A person looking to join a solid community and make friends
How to apply
If you are interested in joining the community either head to the website and fill out an application form, or reply to this thread indicating your interest and we will contact you in-game.

1. Get guild and tonics.
2. Tell people Jormag just spawned
3. Spawn box’s and say hi!
Welcome!
It’s about time this serious bug was brought to your attention.
The pub in Sheamoor does not serve alcohol. Yes, the PUB does not serve alcohol. This isn’t a troll, our entire guild meets there four times a week and none of us are able to have a drink while we wait for others to attend.
Please address this issue, it will make us super happy
Thanks!
“It is time for gamers to give back and this week Desolation is playing host to Guild Wars 2’s first server wide charity event in support of Multiple Sclerosis. Gamers Giving Back and the Gaming World Entertainment Network, who were behind many other major charity events hosted in Guild Wars including the renown ‘Pink Day’, are returning to offer players an evening of events, prizes, and a chance to show the wider media gamers are not anti-social troglodytes hammering away at keyboards in dark rooms.
This Saturday, 20th April, between 1pm and 5pm CDT, everyone is invited to guest themselves over to the Desolation server, the best server let’s be honest, and take part in races, scavenger hunts, treks, fashion shows, and costume brawls. During all the excitement players should also tune into Gw-en.com’s radio station for more chances to win prizes, keep up to date, and listen to some awesome tunes!"

Hey guys, a short Machinima where we went ahead and spoke to the monsters of sPVP about their experiences.
Enjoy!
Hello People’s of Tyria!
My name is Nathan and I’m the leader from the Going Postal community. We’re, or started as at least, as a PVX guild on the Desolation server and have been playing since the BETA tests. I wanted to share something we as a guild have been doing on and off for some time now.
The Tyria’s Postal Service was initially a set of videos I produced for the guild, covering a variety of Guild Wars 2 related topics and using video footage from our events. However in recent weeks we’ve toyed with the idea of opening it up to the wider community as quite frankly it couldn’t hurt.
The content is varied and mostly reflects my own love hate relationship with the game to say the least, however this week and the next few we’re doing a state of game series, something which everyone can enjoy.
This week I’ve been speaking to some competitive sPVP’ers from my own team and also some from more professional teams to find out what’s working, what’s not and what really needs a fix. I hope you guys enjoy it, and I hope you’ll subscribe for the future episodes.

Ok what are the chances! As I was writing this I got a response and I’m back online! Super happy, however this false positive problem is still an issue so I’ll leave this here >< Thank you.
Hello.
My name is Nathan, I’ve played since beta on Desolation, I run a guild called Going Postal and as such I do things like recruit, stand around chatting with my guild and sometimes trade and help guildies with items/gold. As a result I sometimes get hit with a ban for what I assume is a false positive.
This happened when I first started playing, which left me out of my account for five days because support sent me the wrong password after they reset it and treated me like I’d been hacked.
However it happened yet again Sunday, same reason again, my account has not been hacked, I was online and poof! Banned. I’ve been mailing support but after speaking to around 5 people who again treat me like I’ve been hacked, I sent my ID invoice three days ago and still no reply.
Don’t want to sound like a drama queen and I don’t think I should come first – but missing the Christmas event and not being to organize a 280 man guild is very, well, upsetting.
Also I’d like to add this is an issue, and it’s also frustrating for me that support can’t seem to investigate when I contact them. Both times now I get standard you been hacked responses instead of checking the evidence against my account which would illustrate while my activity make look a little odd it’s just me doing guild stuff. Basically it would be awesome if next time you could just check before banning me
Again, not a rage, still sitting on my hands hoping I get a response soon!
Thanks !

Hey guys!
A guild member had a good idea of having food you could make that gave Agony resistance. I thought this was a good idea because it would help the bring cooks back as a legitimate craft and really help the economy of cooking matts – also provide a small work around the RNG nature for the rings : / Would make higher tiers of Fractals a little more accessible to those unlucky sods
All the best!
Thank you both, I too added a little spice, but am a little disappointed. A mystery now solved always fails to live up expectations. It does make a lot more sense now ^^

Do tell Elyz if you know something I don’t ^^ I searched for quite some time and never found anything.
I think many are, it’s a really odd one, so far I’ve never seen a response.
Hey there
I noticed today after getting one in a fractal these do not salvage.
It would make more sense to have them salvageable as it would maintain there value in the economy as most as worse than the Halloween version, and many will end up being vendered.
I don’t really know whether this was intended, or bug, or possible hasn’t been updated yet.
Thanks!
I did mention about the bags, it does fix some of the issue – but it’s more of an ease thing. I mean streamlining systems is important, if you can access them all at the push of a button at any time I’d use it more. Plus at the moment I think they despawn a lot.
As for lag – culling isn’t a big issue, although this is really something for AN to worry about.
I think the fact people don’t use them indicates a system not functioning as intended, then consider most people just buy and sell them nowadays with no intent of using them : /
Thanks for the responses though!
Would be awesome if you would respond to this one!
Hello you fantastic Devs!
Basically I love Mini-pets, there like normal pets with less mess but the problem I have is I load up on the things, then go about showing off, then hit deposit collectibles and poof! Now now, I know you can get a bag for this thing but one bag for a few pets, my dear, where would all my loot go?
Now I know I’m onto to something because I rarely see people sporting their little critters in public and I think it’s simply because it’s kind of a fuss getting them out.
It would be awesome, fantastic maybe, if you add a panel for them on the hero menu for Mini-pets, click one, and poof! The pet will follow you, won’t get deposited, and won’t take up space. Be nice to switch them out now and then.
Seriously though, I think this will boost their value a little and just make it easier for us to enjoy them, I don’t think it will harm any of other aspects of the game, it is cosmetic after all.
Thanks for reading!
Burning Ember, Fragment of Earth, Heart of Darkness and Heart of Fire.
These four items all have some interesting properties.
1. They all have a value of 1s8c
2. They are have quite nice pictures!
3. They are all trophies
4. They do not fit into any crafting recipes known
5. They do not go into the mystic forge
6. To date, I have no bloody idea what they do.
Now I’m a little lost. For weeks I’ve battled with the problem, I’ve tried so much. I lurked around in the area for ages looking hidden venders, checked all the events, did the world boss, tried all the crafts, searched half the internet and still nothing.
They are trophy like Ectoplasm & Mystic coins, but do not go into the forge. They are not like Large Skulls, in the sense they are not listed as a crafting material. In fact, they are unique, there is nothing like them. The fact they are masterwork implies value, they are not grey like vender trash. So… not sure
Basically I’d be real super happy if you would clear up whether they are either unused items not implemented yet, or maybe labeled incorrectly and were supposed to be vender trash or salvage? Or maybe the use exists and still undiscovered?
Put me out my misery?
Thanks
For three rares at level 60 (about 21s) you can get 50 Commendations, better exchange
After some experimenting I found 3 rares weapons are best if you compare cost to commendations, masterwork is also pretty good. Both much better than using food at the moment.
I’ve checked most recipes now. weapons are better for it, but food still suffers greatly.
Hello guys. just checked the exchange rates etc and I’m a little confused.
The recipe requires a 1.04s item, to get a key you need 285 of them, now the cost of using level 80 items is too high so 60 is reasonable as you can grab Peach Cookies for 1c, so 1.40s per 2 tokens. Now that’s still around 1.8g per key, excuse my math, whereas you can grab a key for 125 gems, or 1.25g from the store. You can see that’s a little odd.
Then you have the Ori picks, which are about 33, so 18 ish silver per, for a pick thats 2.5x better than the 4s version, about 10s to get the same from a normal vender.
So even buying the cheapest possible food you can, you still lose by quite a margin. Now I was really excited about this recipe becuase you can appreciate the idea of removing certain supply from the game but I think you over-priced the 1.4s mystic forge item!
Thanks!

That was a very interesting use of the mobs and stealth to move the aggravation. You played them like a boss no doubt, but god they were terrible, milling around like lemmings. Although great video, feel a little inspired.
