Since the last patch I have a huge issue with lag and an unsynchronized game. For example, we were taking a tower and the champion had the invulnerability buff for 12 seconds when the time on my buff ran out the champ remained with the buff and someone mentioned in teamspeak that the champions has still a buff with over 10 seconds. Same goes for dolly pushing. On my screen a dolly might be at a totally different position than someone else. Is this my connection or the servers? This became a huge problem since the season started. This used to be only a problem when a lot of people attacked stonemist.
Push for more info! I was going to make an ascended back piece with MF but since the patch will make MF void I was very curious to hear what will happen to my old MF gear. There’s Winter/Traveler/Explorer/Wayfarer gear Anet could convert gear to have other stats but what good does it if you already have that. Wayfarer could easily become Soldier if you change MF into power, however, like I said what am I going to do with a second Soldier set.
I hope we will be able to salvage MF gear and get mats for ascended gear. I don’t like the idea to salvage my entire MF gear and getting a few ectos and mithril ore. The infusions are another thing.
I really hope Anet doesn’t screw this up… or there’s going to be a few very upset people.
On a side note, I had 21 stacks of confusion on an enemy yesterday and the damage is insane. I was ticking for above 3k+ and I’m still missing Rabid weapons for this build. Everything else has condition damage on it. The 4k self kills should be possible since you have to add might buffs into the equation.
To be perfectly clear. I think the wording is bad. The trait and rune say: “Causes confusion on interrupt” which can be translated into: “Causes confusion on stun/daze/push/pull…”
But, in reality it should say: “Causes confusion on interrupt of an ability”.
People might make a wrong assumption as did I in the beginning about this. There is a difference but it is not clear in the description.
There is just one flaw, well it’s not as much as a flaw as a hindrance that prevents this to be totally OP. Both the trait and the rune requires an actual interrupt so when you stun an enemy who is just standing around you will not apply confusion. This is most likely the reason why this is not going to be OP. You will never be able to spam your interrupts and expect lots of confusions. However, if your fighting someone who is blindly attacking you and you can interrupt them consecutively you’ll pretty much win. It will certainly require some practice but it also will never be that OP.
I’m testing this spec right now and you’re correct it is possible to stack 9 confusions on one attack. The real strength comes from the duration with traits and runes you can reach 60% duration with another 40% from food which will net up to 20 seconds of confusion. Long lasting confusion on people with little abilities to remove conditions will be devastating.
Some things I would recommend you could test:
In sPVP sword/sword is certainly a possibility but in WvW a hammer or mace/mace might come in handy for large groups.
Also, I currently speced into full strength for Physical Training and using Kick/Bull’s Charge/Stomp. This way I have 3 aoe stuns with hammer and Stomp.
In large groups I started using Rampage since I don’t have any other source of stability. Rampage now gives 3 single interrupts and 1 aoe stun. It increases survivability gives you stability and allows you to apply confusion.
I was wondering if someone could help. me answer some simple questions on WvW abilities. The descriptions in some cases are very vague and the wiki does not supply any information.
Cannon mastery lvl 3: Grapeshot does more bleed damage.
Does anyone know if it’s a % increase or a static condition value increase. Anyone got some values?
Arrow cart mastery lvl 3: Increases effectiveness of applied conditions.
Same deal as above. Is it duration increase? Damage? % values or static increases?
Considering we do not get respecs Anet could put out more info on these abilities, at least in the wiki.
Thanks for any help
Time gating here is a bit extreme for such a sub-par stats. Not even worth the effort to farm quartz crystals in the first place.
Yes, they probably will do more with them. I care about this when they do.
This is something to keep people using magic find gear playing the game on a daily basis.
Probably there is some connection in getting future funding to the number of individual players logging in per day. That’s IMHO the most likely explanation why they are doing this.
Looks like Anet is in desperate need of higher numbers right now. The achievement chests with more or less recycled items point in the same direction to get more player log in daily, doing their daily to get some more points.
I’ll expect we see more of such time gating in the coming updates…
Time gating is the best way to let casuals enjoy the game. In 2 hours play I can get a ton of stuff through daily chests without repeating content. Hardcores can get the same in 10 hours because the most valuable stuff is in those daily boxes. Because I pay the bills (having a job and playing 10+ hours is mutually exclusive) it’s very logical for a.net to cater to me.
This calender gating helps me by not letting you run off faster than me in a game I pay for.
It doesn’t seem you have any idea what you’re talking about. Nobody is arguing about time gating on content. Daily chests from boss events are time gated and are just fine. But spending up to 20 months to get your chars equipped is insane.
This post is obviously focuses on people who play more than one character yet some people miss this obvious fact. Please be more constructive in the future.
really though guys? how many sets of celestial armor do you want? look at it this way…6 months down the road are you going to have anyone left that you really want to put another set of celestial on? They haven’t been making things so its immediate gratification, they’re thinking about the game in the long run and trying to keep their population busy instead of having them knock out everything they want in a week, get bored with it and either quit or kitten about not having enough things to do/acquire…
This makes sense for content and not for gear. Introducing WvWxp, for example, is something I mean by content.
I would get 8 sets since they are actually pretty good even if you just want some MF gear I would rather get celestial than traveler. Rather than getting a berserker, a rabid, a soldier, a clerics set to figure out how I want to play a proffession I’d rather just get 1 celestial set. Then at some point I could get 1 set that’s specific to my play style.
I get that as well, I just feel people are being unnecessarily impatient with acquiring items… having the trading post and such has spoiled things in a sense I think in making people feel like if something is new they should be able to have it right away. I feel it takes away from the sense of fulfillment you get from actually eventually acquiring something you really want after patiently waiting for it.. but maybe I’m one of the few who feel that way…
on a side note though you also get the opportunity at a charge crystal when you harvest in the home node as well which could help to expedite the process.. i’m sure not to a satisfactory pace for someone such as yourself but it will speed it up a little bit nonetheless.
Being impatient is one thing but… consider making berserker armor you need 5 blood for one piece which can cost you around ~1g or roughly ~1h farm time depending on your luck. So, on a given day ,depending how much you like to play and farm, you could get several pieces. Now compare this to celestial and the feeling of impatience should vanish.
If the gear you were making was ascended I would agree with the impatience factor since you only craft exotics I do not.

Ascended items do not grow on trees. You have to invest either a lot of time, money or laurels. Crafting exotic celestial trinkets should be easier and an alternative to ascended. Right now it seems it really doesn’t make a difference since you will be investing equal amount of time no matter if exotic or ascended.
When I first read about celestial armor I though it would be just another set but after looking at the stats more closely I realized celestial is the set to go for me and I love it. I play 8 different professions and like to experiment a lot with specs and one issue that always comes up is getting equip that I can try out with a new spec.
Celestial armor is pretty much the solution for screwing around. I would recommend to everyone getting this set since it allows for experimentation a lot. You get good enough stats to see if a spec works for you and you can buy more specific armor to suit your needs.
The only problem, Charged Quartz Crystals. You only get 1 per day.
Which means:
It takes 30 days or 1 month to get your 6 armor pieces.
It takes 10 days to a maximum of 20 days to get your weapons, depending on your weapon sets.
It takes another 25 days for your rings, earrings, accessories.
A grand total of 65 to 75 days for one character. If you want additional weapons to swap out you can always tweak up the number. This is at least 2 months going closer to 3 months for one profession.
If you’re like me and like to play multiple professions then you’re looking at a nightmare. In my case it’s something around 20 months for all my professions.
I am disappointed in Anet.
A simple solution would be to allow each power node to charge one crystal so people would have to travel around to different nodes to charge more crystals.
Playing 8 different chars on lvl 80 I feel very much your frustration on this topic. I love to try out new specs and change up gear and having stat sets available only for a certain time does not only annoy me but it’s kitten ing me off. I spend over 20g the past week to buy acc., amulets and rings for my chars with settler stats and today I found out armor sets are pretty much 12g per char not including the karka shells. I don’t think I’ll even try to equip one char with settlers because I can’t just deal with this concept of being able to gather equip the way the player wants to. I believe the merchants will be available till the 14th when the event end which would mean I’d have to gather over 100g if I wanted to equip my chars with settler gear.
The same thing was with sentinels. Sentinel currently runs around 10g per armor piece and its almost impossible to get those stats. I have to agree with the posts above skins are one thing but stats are something different I don’t understand why Anet won’t leave more armor sets in the game as it increases the ways you can play your character.
This is a very frustrating issue but it seems that not everyone has the same problem. I think if everyone experienced the same amount of lag everyone would be complaining a lot and this is not the case. My specs stayed pretty much the same and I don’t have any issues with ping, fps, or packet loss. It feels a lot like packet loss that is causing the lag but I just don’t have any record of it. There is certainly no problem with my ISP. Trace shows that there is no packet loss.
This problem occurs to me mostly in wvw but it was most extreme when I was doing a dungeon with people from a French server, I am on a German server. While I understand that all servers stand in Texas it is maybe the interaction between servers that is causing the issues. German servers for example being grouped together in some way. I mean there is a reason why US people can’t do dungeons with EU people and vice versa yet we see each other in game and can form parties together.
I have exactly the same problem since the last WvW reset. We have a new server in our bracket and more people playing. I used to always have skill lags when all 3 servers would gather up in the Stonemist keep but now I also have the issues with just running around that you describe. People don’t move they just teleport around. Skill lags aren’t even the problem as much as it used to be it is rather moving around jittery which is the new problem.
