Hey all, so with the new fractal map coming on the patch next week, my inner weab got me thinking, wouldn’t it be so cool if fractals would have 100 different unique maps instead of repeating maps across initiate,adept,expert,and master levels. The idea came from the anime: sword art online’s 100 levels. Maybe this could happen in years to come, if fractals remain the end game 5 man pve content, fingers crossed.
Ok so other than reasons it will prolong my hands from getting carpal tunnel, I’ve been wondering since the pre HoT patch when they made mortar into a kit why it’s skill 1 still isn’t an auto attack.
First let me say that mortar auto scks in terms of dps, it gives no aoe field like the rest of the mortar skills, its slow to reach the target(2 sec delay on max range), it does a combo projectile though nothing worthy of use. It has no use in raids or pvp, and it’s only use is max range especially when not using 1200 range rifle auto.
Look at staff necro skills, skills 1 is an auto atk, skills 2-5 are aoe skills much like mortar skills 2-5. Doesn’t necro staff auto also does projectile combo (could be wrong), nonetheless necro staff auto is slow to hit a max range target and isn’t really best used for tagging enemies. You won’t hear anyone say they got rekt by staff auto either, it’s mostly used to gain life force.
I get that grenade skill 1 is not an auto atk, but mortar should be.
Dungeons having meta was just laughable, that’s probably what he meant. I agree cuz it was all easy except maybe arah p4 for most dungeon vets.
Refunds for wvw infusion doesn’t affect market since there account bound currency. For fractal Infusions, you can choose to convert the unused fractal stat Infusion to a new account bound item/currency that the player can then use to buy the stat they want, all this can be done on the same npc. No economic leaks, everyone’s happy, problem solved.
I mostly WvW but I’d be more motivated to play if PvP rewards had stayed the way they were in season 5. I want to gear up my characters for WvW and PvP had great rewards before the nerf but now they are too overly complicated. PvP games are like ~9-11 minutes on average so I’d like a good reward for the time investment and in PvE you get a better return on investment for your time which is unfortunate for gearing purposes when I’d rather play PvP because I like the competitive game modes.
I play all 3game modes so I don’t burnout and quit the game, this season though I’ve not played much pvp bcuz I have more fun and fairly rewarded with my time in wvw and PVE. As far as the gear goes it’s sad how pvp s5 gear was Good and now I don’t even bother.
Easiest solution to this is have the npc give you back the cost of your unused infusion whether it be laurel and badges for wvw, or stab matrices and relics for fractals. I’m sure the coding to make this happen isn’t extremely difficult,nor would it pull devs out from working on the expansion or Ls eps.
If you don’t want that let us mystic forge it to a different stat.
I have alot of level 80s myself but I just find it a waste when I have an Infusion sitting on my bank because skill balance patches made it close to useless. Then I am forced to wait weeks just to get enough laurel again forth wvw infusions. As far as the fractal stat Infusions, it really is a waste of money when they not used.
Although I agree with OP that the +5 stat Infusions should be allowed to convert to the stats you prefer, it is a more important issue with the fractal +5 stat Infusions because they have a uniform price on the fractal vendor, the same vendor has upgrades and downgrades and extractors, and most importantly it cost alot of gold per +7 and even more so with the +9s(ex. +5 power, +9 agony infusion~rip gold).
The wvw infusions can be tedious to acquire with the laurels only found from daily rewards, the wvw badges on the other hand aren’t t as hard to get. I find myself always low on laurels though. Feelsbadman.
After a week since patch I’ve noticed a good reception of this trait by the PVE community. I have seen people bring engis specifically on raids because of this buff. I have also seen pugs switch to one engi with a party of full condi meta PUG t4 fractals….basically from what I’ve seen, engis have been positively accepted to the PVE meta since this change thus far. Well the engi condi meta build has been great dps before this patch, it got slightly buffed more so that helped
…but the reason engi’s were not given a spot before was because they did not have a utility that helps overall squad dps, now that they do, there is no excuse to not have an engi for a condi sub group which will increase all condi builds’ overall dps on the raid.
A lot of raid groups follow the trend, given that the condi dps engi is top in some benchmarks people will start to look at engis in a better way since they got a group utility to back the dps…other dps don’t get a spot in raids because people’s mindset are locked on group utility, hopefully future balance patches makes sure every class has a group utility buff or 2 that gives them a spot in raids.
Yeh i remember two blade pete for slums human background, big nose ted for commoner, and a minister for noble forgot if hes name is braun pr something else.
People like new content whether its a meta map or not isnt important, as long as new content is available.
So i want something = battlenet? , Make it happen= reason because i want it…..if everyone reasoned like this, oh man…….
Ok so there are about 20 items clogging my inventory after finishing this achievement, they are not sellabe and not salvageable either…..should i delete them or do they have future uses, sincerely i hate having garbage in my inventory. #OCD.
I solod this and finished it on my first try with my scrapper, no bugs that i saw, just challenging story content, which would be cake walk if you party with others, people just need to up their game.
I do hope this minor detail gets fixed for lore reasons.
Isn’t this achievement done with the 1st mission of episode 4? I cant do any of the requirements for this achievement, the definition is so lacking it doesnt even mention for which mission it was intended for. Anyone finished this? Would love the help, thanks.

Some people don’t like ranked PvP but still like to play PvP. What happens to them in this situation?
They’ll get yelled at by other ranked PvP players to go unranked
Oh, wait…
Their are salty players in unranked as well, people will always vent their frustration and blame others. I know a bunchof players who have had hundreds of unranked games only to still be in bronze and silver. But you can’t stop people from playing the way they want. So telling off people to go unranked instead doesn’t solve anything.

Hot Joins! there is always a live 1v1 map going on 24/7, you can practice your rotations and knowledge of the map against friends there as well. I still use hot joins during the season in between or after queues to sharpen my skills and practice class matchups with friends to better ourselves be more prepared for ranked games.
Their are daily maps as well for people who only want to go to pvp to finish their dailys and i see them always used. In my opinion knowing your class, knowing which matchups favor you and which ones that don’t, and knowing the map and their unique objectives….all these you can practice in hot joins. Map awareness is something that you learn as you keep playing more games, but everything else (~in my opinion) you can prepare for in hot joins and bypass unranked and go straight to ranked games.

180 may sound small, but its as large as mortar 1 skill radius, which is good imo, even if your make it a whopping 300 radius it wouldn’t make the skill any better.
i also do hope this gets changed by devs in the near future.
So this skill has always been useless, at the moment its at 20 sec cd, blinds up to 5 targets at 180 radius. I have always found it useless, its not enough to keep you alive while an enemy has stun/daze/knockdown’d you, it also does little to nothing on a break bar in pve. So what does it do and what makes it worth a 20 sec cd and a 5th skill on a kit? nothing imo.
Change for it is long overdue, i suggest making it a smoke field, kinda like bomb kit 4 – smoke bomb. afaik thats the only source of smoke field an engi has, which is in no way op, but would make Flamethrower 5 more useful and sync better with flamethrower 2 – flame blast(which is not even easy to use and even with practice i miss blasting it 1/3 times during fights). Its not a huge change, but it would make the Smoke Vent worth using, as i never have ever felt it was worth using in any rotation the past 4 years.

Yeh…techonological limitations in this game scks. It would have been a more immersive experience to see boats in lakes and rivers in the game, and airships that patrol around the map.
There are large bodies of water in a few of the maps in the game, large enough to have boats that actually sail and circle around the map, Orrian boats would have been nice if they were moving in the orr maps instead of being frozen in place or sunk in the bottom of the ocean, the latter having a good reason… There are also boats in Gendarran field and Lornars Pass that are frozen on spot as well. GW2’s underwater experience is an upgrade compared to most other mmos of its genre but no sailing boats outside cutscenes is a big immersion crushing experience.
The baloon in divinitys reach during the crown pavilion and the catapult in diessa plateau also breaks immersion big time as others mentioned, as it just loads you to the next spot in the map like a waypoint.
a few charr choppers(helicopters) in the game(orr maps and story mode and LS2), just load you to the next part of the map as well, with a badly made custcene.
2 airships that you can board, which are in gendarran fields and in bloodstone fen are apparently hovering on spot, with no other reason other than technological limitations in the game, is just a sad sad part of the game. Like others mentioned, if Anet can’t make them move, then stay away from airships, because airships are meant to patrol around the map while in the air, just as boast should be sailing in the sea.
I do hope that in future expansions this is changed for newer maps, as i understand that they won’t have enough devs to fix and change this little things for older maps. I hope Anet makes this game a more immersive experience.
