Traited minions are actually not that bad. Yeah, survivability is a bit of an issue but their damage output is high enough to make someone cautious of just hopping into the zerg.
Or rather, they would be if everyone didn’t already know that minion AI is complete hog wash and that playing a minion master is like rolling dice.

Why is this elite such a huge kick in the nuts to necros?
Not only does it just make you a target dummy for 10 seconds, it cancels Lich form, plague form, and it causes all of your minions to just drop dead and go on cooldown.
As it stands, it’s practically impossible to kill a mesmer 1v1 as a minion master, as he can render most of your utility useless with a quick cast (after he’s done playing chase the chicken of course).
Before we talk about AI/Pathing/Durability issues, why is the flesh golem the only minion that has out of combat health regeneration?
Since we don’t have the ability to dismiss our minons (aside from swapping utilities and waiting out the cooldown), it’s just an unnecessary annoyance and a minor slap across the face for minion masters.
Dual dagger is the way to go if you plan on mainhanding daggers. Like some said above, blinds are key to survival. Well of blindness is an excellent tool, and if you throw that down with well of blood on top of it and then life siphon, you can nearly full heal.
Any well creates a blind field on blast. So you can achieve the same effect by using, say, bone wurms or bone minions with a more useful well.
