Let us not forget the primary reason that Thief spec Hidden Killer; 100% crit chance from stealth.
Crid dmg and power in this case become almighty in terms of 2 shotting your target in wvw:)
I personally prefer a brawler type build because I dont like just getting 1 kill every 30 seconds. But a carefully played glass cannon can do greebly things!
I have a similiar issue; I was asleep for this event.
Wake up, its over.
Lovely.
Well it is good to see such a lively discussion.
It is unfortunately true that all my points have a point. If they weren’t I wouldnt bother writing them.
For those of you ‘who have no problem’ with jumping puzzles; good for you. Many of us do not; and yes they are required if you ever even hope to get your legendary.
The mood of the community that SHOULD be happy with all these ‘new’ things, is rather “oh god now I HAVE to grind 100’s of hours to get these…”
Let us not forget that if a buddy has a power problem during your fractal… it is press on without him (and die more), or start over.
Nowhere in mmo history has such little care been given to the player. I would say it is ‘a grind’ and nothing more, but it is so much more. It is a royal pain in the grobbles.
There are many beefs I have with the game at present that make this game fall into a ‘bad joke’ among mmo’s realm;
1. Diminishing returns; play in a zone for more than 1 hour and drop rates there become greys. Leave the game for an hour come back and get good drops again. This also applies to WvW; what the ? If this was a mechanic to punish bots, it also punishes regular players too.
2. Jumping puzzles; whoever thought of making this a mandatory mechanic was a sadistic soul; getting their jollies off watching us FAIL over and over and over again.
3. Just to add another little sadistic kick to this; MAKE HALF MY SKILLS THAT ARE WORTH HAVING CAUSE ME TO LEAP OFF OF PLATFORMS IM FIGHTING ON!!! Dodge the mob attacking you? Over you go! Bottom of the cliff for you!
4. Putting nodes in impossible to reach places; a lone farmer vs 50 mobs in the node areas. This further reinforces the idea that the staff must not like gamers.
5. Fractals are a grindfest the likes of which we have not seen since EverQuest 1.
6. Add in the fact that IF 1 person happens to drop from your group during a fractal… you CANNOT get another person to come, but instead must finish AS IS… or start over.
If you play mmo groups for any amount of time; eventually someone will disconnect. Whether it is by their choice or not; the group should not have to suffer!
7. Legendaries; the grind from beyond.
This entire scenario is forcing a sickening grind on us, but then adding in diminishing returns = a game which is unreasonably sadistic to the point of disgust.
It is pleasant to see you taking the path many of us took not so long ago.
Unfortunately, this ‘new’ wears off, for reasons ill describe in other posts.
It isnt over yet! Also yes funny how daily server transfer being changed actually made it where things were a lot more fair overall.
I think this makes it alot more fun, maybe they should change server transfer to monthly or bi-annually, to make it even more fair:)
4.5k kills and I’ve gotten roughly 1800 badges (see the screenshot). 396 for chest piece, 370 for leggings, 500 for gift, 2 stacks of 250, 36 left over and some spent on buying siege. I have run the jumping puzzle quite a few times, but typically I get stacks of 2 badges every 5ish kills. I feel as if I get more badges from enemies that I stomp, but that may be just because I immediately pick up the loot bag by tapping F after the stomp. If you’re having trouble finding badges or loot bags remember that you can hold Ctrl down and it will highlight all loot bags within a large radius.
This is a VERY greebly tip! +1 for you! It will help me greatly in finding all the loots!
Hold Ctl to find them very nice.
Also I did spinning daggers into z v z right into the enemy zerg. I dont know how I lived, but I that time I got quite a few kills because my zerg rolled them soon after. I probably got 3-4 badges in that scuffle.
Also I ask this; does Diminishing Returns apply to Badges in PVP??
I find if I log out and bail for a while… then come back badges start dropping nicely again.
any rating based on a world setup…. which presumes that WORLD wil have the same team next week …. when a transfer is allowed every week, will be hosed.
I point to the fact that just the weekly limit of transfers has minimized a large portion of unequal distribution of play.
Now imagine a sports team where;
1. the players were ALWAYS anonymous
2. allowed to SWITCH SIDES every week
Clearly this would not be a scenario where long-term team score would maintain any validity.
It is exploitable to any team that had a forums, and a mind to do so. They can just decide to bail to a low rated server same day every week, and slaughter the low rateds they are matched against.
Luckily the rewards for ‘winning’ in wvw arent that great; they dont gain much by cheating.
so 10 kills per 1 badge is not right?
I have been very sure to loot everything.
Does that stupid Diminishing Returns come into play in WvW??
I have 1600+ kills in wvw.
only 160 badges of honor.
Now I learn it is some norm that if you alt-4 out, you deny the enemy the badges- AND you save on repairs. Double bonus.
So apparrently I have been getting wronged by playing by the rules?
This shows yet another weakness in an already broken system.
actually, if you cant handle the heat you shouldnt go there in the first place.
Every time you alt-4 out you say 3 things;
1. Im a loser that cannot handle the consequences of losing.
2. I cannot manage to play fair, thus making me a loser.
3. Im such a peasant I cannot afford to pay a measely repair cost.
I dont have any easy answer for this.
There is something to be said when all que are full but then when you get into the battle; you are outnumbered 5 to 1.
Something seems VERY fishy about this matching system. Whether it is due to pro players gaming the system or not, i do not know, but something is not right.
Let us evaluate something; how often have I had to do transfers in mmo?
For gw2 ; once at the beginning.
For SWTOR; once by company merge not initiated by me
For LOTRO; never
For WOW; never
For EQ2; never
So I propose, that all transfers beyond the initial should be at a charge of 20 bucks. That puts a worthwhile limit on who can go; it also ensures that the company and the players at large benefit.
