Why so many bugs in Mordremoth fight?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

HEY! I dont know about the other bugs, But I DO KNOW how to overcome the last bug (the bug that actualy keeps you from finishing the boss, you know, the one where mordremoth and everyone else just stands after the final rift with caithe)

Alright, so your gonna need at least 3-4 people in your group. Its best if you have all 5 and for the love of god, try to stay alive until the end….once you do all the stuff your supposed to, like kick phantom Rylocks and Marjorys butt, and do all the flying around stuff…You will eventualy get to the final part which is the part that makes EVERYONE mad….Normaly, you would fend off the enemies while caithe creates a rift to knock down Mordremoths STUN guage, allowing you attack him….well, thats the bug…even after she does that, his guage never goes down so your stuck there, standing around with everyone else BUT I FOUND A SOLUTION!!! If you have 3-4 guys with you, go up to mordremoth and have everyone use stun/knockback/knockdown or something like that all at the same time…if you guys do you moves are Relatively the same time, you will overcome his STUN guage and the game will resume….but you NEED 3-4 people to do it and they NEED to use their stun/knockdown/knockback moves. or something just as equally strong in DPS. ANYWAY, i hope this helps. it helped me!

If we are talking about the normal mode, Revenant Staff 5 will drain Mordremoth’s entire bar whenever it’s up. It’s soloable.

Haven’t had luck with the team or the Revenant, guess neither does enough burst cc or whatever?

but the core problem stays and is still present,
if you don ‘t do the rift perfectly, that is without any more mobs on the map, without pausing or lagging during it, you are not able to get Mordremoth’s break bar down and then you are stuck and need to restart the fight
I can’t imagine how this is wanted?

Shouldn’t it just reset automatically
if break bar full + rift gone => new mobs wave + new rift

something like that, does not seem hard

I and my friends, with whom I usually run a guild tend to lose interest in the game now and then for a limited time. Thus right now, my old guild is once again pretty dead and I look for an alternative.

I’m over 20 and usually online during the whole weekend starting with Friday evening.
Under the week I usually have only time to do my dailies, killing the Karka Queen and Tequatl.

It would be great to find a PvE oriented Guild I could join to do some guild missions and not just have random people to kill bosses, do fractals, dungeons, etc.

I would prefer a Guild that operates in any EU Time zones (living in UTC+1 myself).

Careful with “meta” stuff.
Even if you find “perfect 100/100” score builds, you rarely know how many people actually rated them.
ah 100 rate meta build is worthless with just a view dozen voters, you know, compared to millions or players.
what is called “meta” could just be made up or work for a selected view.

I always thought this “level jumping” is not a good idea for new players, you miss out on the chance to “get to know” your character in this way you only can do when you grow with him all the way.

You can also just go around the world in easier regions to try out what your char can do and can’t do.
The PvP Lobby is a good way to try out different “armor and trinket” sets by just changing out one item, and then fighting against npc enemies, instead of getting a full set of armor and trinkets in PvE.

Guild Wars 1 had a great chat system, too bad they Anet won’t use anything from GW1 to make GW2 better.

GW1 had a tab for public, party, say, map and guild. Each channel could be unticked if you didn’t want to be bothered.

Simply add tabs for every channel and add a channel for guild recruitment.

OMG the devs responded to your idea and made a completely customizable chat-window. you can make your own taps and choose what is shown, you can select a channel by click or commands too.
And all that was added just now … no wait, it was there all along.

There is could be a guild recruitment chat thought, probably easy to implements.

Depending on how much resources they ANet would invest in that, it could be anything from another tag in the “friends”/“loocking for groups”/… window where you simply can add a guild name and a short text for advertisment,
all the way to a full “profile” with text and numbers, banners, etc. whatever you want to publish

Fighting in air (while gliding) totally needs to happen. What say you guys.

go play Aion

:)

flying =/= standing in the air and move freely

No fantasy game allows you to fly, not WoW, Aion or Riders of Icarus. What you can do there is far from flying.

Fighting while gliding is actual really close to real flying, like a bird or a plain would do. With a nice mechanic for combat against other flying targets, Guild Wars could create a unique “World of Warplane” feeling, as in “you” do the flying not the machine.

Though it would be really difficult since gliding even with upstreams and ley lines provides far less freedom of movement as a small motorized plane would.
So playing as “bomber” as we already can do, is probably the closest to aerial combat we get.

I agree with OP. All I did was do a map for 1h after the patch, but I still feel bad about this response. I technically wasted 1 hours, and I want some compensation for it.

You played a game for one hour,
you did that to entertain yourself for 1h,
if you played for another reason, that is your problem.

And roll back or not, this one hour of entertainment can not be taken from you.

Saying you wasted one hour suggest that you did “work” in that time, farmed something, thus lost resources, something that was not enjoyable and that is tiring to do again.
if that is the case, why play it in the first place? that is not how games should work silly ^^

As one of the assuming hundreds of thousands of players who have something more important to do than play GW2 on a weekday and thus was not effected by that whole thing at all,
I must ask, would I get a compensation too?

How can ArenaNet even know who was affected and who wasn’t.

From all the players, I think it is a safe bet to assume than far less than half of them were affected by this at all, or just slightly.

Compensating ALL of them just because a view hundred players might have did something “big” like farm hundreds of resources or something, seems like it would cost more time and money than just forgetting that issue.

If it were actually a majority of the players being affected by that, I am sure there would be a compensation, but as it is there wont be one and there should not be one.

I think the only people who have even remotely the right to call for an compensation are those who earn money by streaming GW2 or something similar.
But for everybody else, no tear is shed, work, go outside, play something else, your world should not only consist of a Game.

PS:
It’s all data, you lost nothing, but time, and that is your fault.

How Bladed Armor Should Be

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Griffin.5379

A real post then. ^^

If you look at all the Armor Skins we have available, it is easy to see that a lot light armor shows a lot of skin,
some medium armor shows a little bit of skin and even a view heavy armors show skin.
And even man got a view options. Interestingly, most in heavy.

All in all a really good mix of stuff that allows to mix some armor sets to get most looks you can imagine as long as you don’t stay bound to a single armor set/skin.

Don’t get me wrong though, I am for more armor designs in general, best something that wont only look good on it’s own

3. In a world where magic, enchantments and potions exist, I don’t think your choice of armor really matters much. My guardian has reflects, blocks, aegis, protection and regeneration for days son. She doesn’t need fully-covering proper armor.

While this is absolutely true, I like to have a little reasoning in the magic world, you see noting totally out of the blue.
Like in that case, sure, she wont need that kind of armor then, but why wear armor at all, a robe would allow much more freedom in movement and would be so much lighter than a heavy armor with holes.

It doesn’t matter if you are protected by magic, wearing a immensely heavy plate if you don’t need to is just stupid.

And to the actual topic, the blade armor is on every race and every class not really my thing either so a redesign would be awesome,
while I think “kinkier” is not really the way to go.

This game is pay to win, Slightly.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Griffin.5379

BY DEFINITION, any game where you can purchase in-game currency with Real Life money is “pay to win”. It’s actually why you aren’t able to purchase in-game currency with RL money in most MMOs and why there is such a healthy illegal Gold Selling business for games.

By definition it is:
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=pay-to-win

“Games that let you buy better gear or allow you to make better items then everyone else at a faster rate and then makes the game largely unbalanced even for people who have skill in the game without paying.”

“better items then everyone else” – you can’t do that in GW2
“at a faster rate” – yes, but that is basically the only thing you can sell to “casual” players, “time”

“… makes the game largely unbalanced even for people who have skill in the game without paying” – big no here, no amount of ingame money can make any player better than someone with actual skill. Best example Raids and Fractals.
And in PvP gems and money do not matter anyway.

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/john-smith-on-the-state-of-the-guild-wars-2-economy/

then it is safe to assume, that humans were and are still the most played race.
Fact>Assumption/Educated Guess>Guess
__________________________________________________

The existence of 5 races instead of one is the main reason we don’t get more armor more often.

That is simply not true, the problem in the race/armor equation is that they try to fit every armor on every race and gender, if they would only make “cultural” armors it would reduce the time for each set immensely.

Why not go back to the GW1 Districts system?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Griffin.5379

Griffin.5379

The old district system was a total mess specially when there was any kind of event.

As example you can take any Christmas event. If you were early or just persistent enough you could get into a low number district like 1-10, there you could do the event with hundreds if people, then just when it finished you jump to another district, for some reason there was always a time difference between them, so in half of them the even was not finished. You jumped there, finished the event again, jump further and so on a view time.

On the other hand, if you were a little to late there was no chance to get into the high populated district and you had a chance to end up with like 20 other player, doing the even and that is just sad.

In GW2 I never had such problems or saw such exploits.

GW2 should have been human only.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Griffin.5379

Griffin.5379

The game is struggling with the production of cosmetic items and one of the main reasons is the fact that it has too many races.

This is a problem because armor and cosmetics are the primary driving force that keeps people going in GW2. It’s not gear grild – it’s skin grind – and we’ve got very very little skins.

The game released with a good abundance of skins – but ever since we’ve had too little come into the game either through the gem store or other means.

That aside I also feel the story could have been much more interesting, focused and well written if they didn’t have to write a neutral 5-race story and by doing so distanced themselves quite a lot from the franchise’s original lore and setting.

So as I understand it, the issue is that you think there are to little cosmetic items, armors etc. and that the personal stories are bad (as it is discussed in many other threads),
and you “think” it would be much better when there were less races since that is what seems to be the root of the problem.

If that is true or not, who knows, maybe it was a marketing thing, somebody in the higher ups said they need many playable races, you can cut on the story, or something, doesn’t matter actually since it is done.

What can still be done is voicing the desire to get more cosmetic items, better personal stories, and getting money in the direction of A-net,
make a Kickstarter Project, collect hundreds of thousands Dollar to send to A-Net with a letter saying “pls implements that”

You know, like doing something instead of complain about something that can’t be changed anyway.

GW2 should have been human only.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Griffin.5379

Griffin.5379

Instead of less races, how about only race bound armor from now on. (yes WP said that too).

there would be no need for fixing clipping issues, you just make 6 individual armors in the first place

I mean if you spend weeks to change an armor to fit certain race, you could make a new one from scratch instead,
only costumes and special armor like Fused Gauntlets would be multy race.

We go on the assumption of lot’s of fantasy novels, movies and games that the sand in the Crystal Desert is unearthly fine, like water,
because: “normally” since there is a thing called friction you can not “glide” on the sand surface

GW2 has off course a fantasy setting so, not sure. I think you have to be careful with “magical” movement.
I mean when you make sand were boats and other things can “swim” you as player should also not be able to simply stand on the sand, also other creatures can “swim” inside the sand too.
Bottom line: have some “rules” to your magic and stick to them

Even with the low 2Q this year, the money NCSoft makes with GW2 during the whole year (so far) is still above the average of last year (not including the spike in 4Q15).

The only thing that is “missing” is a big chunk of stat/speed boost you can put between your legs instead of whatever else that has nothing to do with “mounts” besides looking like something you can sit on.

Griffin.5379

All the people crying for mounts and want just a stat boost for there chars to sit on.

Newsflash, all mounts in almost all games so far are bullkitten because they are just that, a stat boost your character sits on.
All those “mounts” allow you to move in utter ridiculous ways you can justify with a flying magic carpet but not with a horse or other animals, they simple can’t walk backwards or do sidesteps at a considerable speed.

In the context of battle, a Mount is used to have the speed added to you attack power, be higher up position also grants advantages to range and gives a better angle to attack down.
The only game I know of who does that right so far is “Mount and Blade” and Guild Wars 2.

Yes right, we actually have “mounts” in the game that actually move right and do what mounts are supposed to do.

You know, the Mordrem Riders/Cavaliers:

look at there movements, they turn slowly, can’t walk backward or to the side, they only try to point at you and charge like a real battle mount.
They give the rider more overall power, they trample and push away things in there path.

So yeah, if you ask for mounts, ask for real mounts please, not just more speed and higher stats for your characters.

With HoT they just set the difficulty level too high for the average player. GW1 and GW2 have always been casual games with vast amounts of quite easy content. HoT upset that balance, which pleased some folks but not others. For me, it’s not fun so I mostly don’t go there. For my wife, well she stopped playing at the very start of the HoT story line. That bit where you have to earn gliding to proceed but it’s hard to earn XP because you can’t kill much and you can’t follow the gliding, bouncing zergfest. So I can state as a fact that HoT caused a massive 50% of players in our household to stop playing.

One could simply wait for the night events and help out there, plenty of players plenty of xp and depending on the boss that spawn, gliding is not absolutely necessary,
getting your first 1-2 masteries in gliding just by staying around in an event at night is possible, or helping camps build during the day. All easy, all with a lot of other players normally and all without the need for gliding

die HoT maps them self are not that hard, the enemies are more challenging yes but all in all maybe a little increase in difficulty if you played all the 80 level before.

Raids now are another matter, those are supposed to be extremely challenging PvE experiences.

Guess i’m to casual for caring about that. I mean dps only translates to time and skill, the more time an enemy needs to kill the more skill the group needs to stay alive (for most PvE content that is, never played high level fractal or raids so far)
And it doesn’t matter much to me if i can clear a Fractal in 5min, 10min or 20min as long as i don’t have annoying people in a group that complain all the time.

Another thing again is playstyle, it is nice that a tempest ele is able to deal more dps, but if the player is not able to use that to it’s fullest, that is playing in medium and short range, and is dead half of the time, all that “possible” dps is worth nothing,

Armour Design Time

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Griffin.5379

First, there are 3 light, 3 medium and 4 heavy armor
- bladed (light, medium, heavy)
- leystone (l,m,h)
- mistward (h)
- Precursor (l,m,h)

Thing with armor designs, as i understand it, the more diverse, the harder to make, like a lot of sets in season 1 are rather similar (thus can be nicely combined) and it takes not much time to make those.
For Example,
Heavy armor: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Human_male_heavy_armor
Chain = Worn Chain close to Millitia, Scale, Splint and tempered scale
Dark Templa is close to Studded Plate and Armageddon as well as Draconic

if you take your time and lay those pictures over each other you see how similiar the models are,
now later armors, those added with season 2 and the expansion get more and more “complex” and don’t look similar at all, so it takes time

(carapace and luminiescent for example, took probably a long time each since they are not at all similar in any aspect)

On a side note, all gemstore armors are incredible complex compared to “normal” armor.

No idea what you are talking about,
I would never think about using Tempest on my Ele because I would need to change my play style of “staying the kitten away from the enemy”
going so close as to actually use the overloads is out of the question so the complete specialization would be an absolute waste of a otherwise usable specialization slot.

Also I would never pick druid when i wanted a build not focused on healing and support.

Thing is that most elite specializations support the play style people use on there classes anyway, so surprise, everybody uses the elite specializations to enhance there old tactics (“tactics” as in hitting things with the highest possible damage as quick as possible).

Well Bloodstone Fen and recent patches are promising, if it goes on like that, this will probably just be remembered as a little stumbling stone in GW history, who knows.

I agree.
At the risk of opening a can of worms it would be really nice to have a house to go around my bookshelf where I could keep other stuff too. One thing I always liked about the Elder Scrolls games was that you could buy (or in Morrowind ‘acquire’) a house and then keep all kinds of stuff you didn’t want to carry with you in there. I’d always collect interesting books I found on my travels and bring them home to read later. Usually at 3am while waiting for the shops to open so I could off-load all the junk I’d dragged out of a dungeon before heading back out.

I am pretty sure your Home instance was meant as exactly that, a “Home” but more than a house.
Though it could be upgraded a little with maybe an actual library/building. Or a place to “showcase” achievements, weapon/armor showcases, some heads of creatures, dragon claw, you know, visual stuff … well stuff for another thread.

(Side-note, the Charr home does not feel really, homely at all, more like a backyard where they parked old tanks, also Charr don’t seem like they would have a library, at all, or read books, …)

Multi-Platform Gaming and other Mobile App

I like to play Guild Wars but besides the weekends I don’t have much time with an 8h per day work and 3h trip forth and back, and a 30-40min break is not enough to start up GW and play a little if you still want to eat.
So I though it would be awesome if GW had some “options”.

Here are some Ideas:

Cross/Multi-Platform Gaming

For those who don’t know, I don’t mean the kind of Cross-Platform Game that allows you to play the same game on different Platforms like Overwatch on PC, XBox and PS and all players can play with each other, I mean the idea that you play different games on different platforms that are all contributing to the same base game/account. (If there is another Name for that I am not aware off, please correct me ^^)

As an example for GW specific, imagine an App where you play Polymock and you can unlock achievements, earn resources and money that can be used in that game or transferred to your GW Account, or are completely linked in the first place.

Like a Mini-Game in GW but you can play it anywhere with a tablet or Smartphone.

Mobile/Browser Application

Sometimes I only log in to do some small things (under the week), chatting a little with the Guild, doing some transactions in the Black Lion Trading Post.

I think it would not be a bad Idea to be able to do those things outside of the actual game too. Like connecting your Skype/WhatsApp or anything with some of the ingame chats like guild or map/city chat.

Also an “Black Lion Trading Post”-App, that is linked to your inventories and bank maybe, sounds interesting to me.

Now, I understand that something like that takes a lot of resources that can be used for Living World 3 and the Expansion eventually after.
And if I had to decide between a well made LW Season 3 and a great expansion compared to a not so well made Season 3 and a mediocre expansion + a Cross-Platform App, I would always choose the first.

But well, maybe in the far future this would be an option.

What do you all think?

A view of them are more “pure magic” than any element, specially leyline and fractal.

No critic towards weapons anyway, since there are plenty of designs, even more when you count the Black Lion stuff.

But focus on Armor, I have a view options when I want to look “fiery”.
All the Citadel of Flame armors, the Flame and Frost stuff (forged), Hellfire Set, Flamekissed armor,

Now maybe lighning? the Tempest shoulder thing and zephyrite stuff but no real armor

earth or rather nature/plant: sylvari cultural and twilight arbor sets

My thought are more in a direction of those set’s but heavily focused on an element, for example:

heavy ice armor:

Hmm … I would put it on around hte same level of usefulness as Advanced Gliding.

There is an achievement you can only get with that skill, be using it to collide with another, existing lay line.

I agree with Inculpatus cedo, EU, NA and China markets are different as day and night in a lot of major points.
Could GW have a valentine’s day sale with special stuff like that? certainly.
Would it be even close in success? probably not.
I can only speak for the German Market I saw so far, but for us, valentine’s day is just not that big of a deal … thought many companies are really trying to make it popular and it slowly grows.

Now Christmas is another thing, and GW does a lot for that holiday, maybe even more in the future.
