Almost all of that condition application you can do with the staff auto-attack and staff clones, giving you almost the same amount of damage with more defense and more options for your swap weapon. Getting it to burst is just a matter of how close you want to stand to your target if you trait into the extra bounce. In fact you can probably get more condition damage out of the staff, but it’ll end up a wash since the auto-attack isn’t going to hit as hard s/p.
Just run with a staff. I found my mesmer leveling experience to be the most fun and really not difficult at all. Enjoying yourself while you’re doing it is pretty key though. If you’re not having fun while leveling you’ll probably not have fun at 80 either.
Would it be interesting, since you can trait into arcane, to add an arcane attunement?
I fail to see how the range change has any practical effect, but I should probably be careful using sarcastic logic in a QQ thread. Shortbow is still a great weapon for ranger and bringing the ranger just a liiiittttle bit closer to the action isn’t all that bad of a thing, especially in PvE, where the less experienced player can have a positive impact on their group by accident through use of spirits/aoe slot skills. But really, screw bows, why can’t rangers wield catapults?!
So.. say stealth was nerfed or removed.. what is your suggestion to buff them in the removal of one of their core mechanic? How would you deal with the fallout to other classes that can use stealth? Would you suggest that thieves hit harder, or gain more toughness/vit? Would mesmers get more in-combat movement? You can’t just suggest you take away/nerf something because you don’t like it and not offer compensation. That’s the same as saying I don’t like the way Sylvari look, remove them!
Now imagine a game where there was nothing about it you didn’t like, that didn’t frustrate you, that didn’t challenge you… you wouldn’t like it. You wouldn’t play it. You’d never have those moments where you get to stand over the thing that frustrates you and beat it down and yell in glee.
But whaaaatever, I don’t even play a thief.
Although I love this idea, I don’t see it happening. It’s a lot of work that will only benefit one class. Why would they spend time implementing this when they can make new dungeons/quests that everyone can play?
My thoughts exactly. If they’ve gone this long with rangers in the state they’re in, it’s gonna be a long, long time before they do anything this extensive for just us.
Because it makes the class even more fun to play, so why not do it? It’s going to happen eventually anyway, might as well start throwing out suggestions for pets you want you see in the future.
Hey did you know that longbow 5 is the only AoE ranger has? Crap. Better stop using those other AoE skills. Apparently they don’t work.
Constantly and for severe damage? Always in your face? Are you sure you were fighting just one mesmer? Perhaps poor verbage? Sounds about as legit as having already seen ‘millions of times when my stealthed jaguar just can’t land more than half of his deadly crits on the moving target. Even when the enemy does not see my pet he just moves randomly and my pet can do nothing."
Skills and weapons are easy to swap out for a reason. Try throwing axes at a mesmer next time. If you aren’t using one to start with it should be pretty easy to get away from them long enough to swap. If you think that one build or weapon should dominate with no adjustments on the fly.. can’t help you there.
Ranger is just way more fun to play, whatcha gunna do about that?
It is funny because when I think ranger, I think best class in GW1. The ranger class that was in GW1 would be the best class in GW2 if they were somehow carried over. It would actually be very interesting to see what class would be the best flag carrier in GvG if they had that in GW2.
Ranger was the best in the first game because it was easily the most well rounded it had everything. In this game I guess maybe Guardian would me a lot of sense or theif.
Best at what? I think there’s quite a few Rit’s that would disagree with you.
One mesmer using just WoC wouldn’t be a 50% dps increase. There’s no chaos storm, no summoning warlock, no use of chaos armor. All part of staff. That said I still don’t think the clones need another bounce. The DPS on it is already fantastic.
Why does it need to apply to your condition stacking clones?
I use a longbow and even though I know already that it doesn’t do as much dps as the short bow ,I has a longer range and it has a knock back and the #5 skill is quite useful (in basic pve anyway) then I switch to the greatsord and maul them, whereas when I use the short bow I do quicker damage but less aoe’s and its less useful imo I haven’t tried doing pvp with it yet so I Dupont know how good it is there
It actually doesn’t have a longer range. Short bow and long bow both have a 1,200 range.
1) No chain, stacks vulnerability.
2) Multi-shot attack that afflicts random conditions, but not poison or burning.
3) 1 second daze.
I was under the impression that clones don’t replace phantasms, so if you have three iduelists out….
