So yesterday adventures were broken for me and I did not receive my chests. After reset I was pvping and my chests popped up. Once I took my chests, also in pvp, I did not get my achievement or mastery point associated with the ones I got. Today I went back and did Bugs in the Branches Gold, and again did not receive credit. Same bug is also happening for Shooting Gallery Silver.

Yes, we will be at Games Convention in Cologne. No additional details are available yet, but we’re looking forward to it!

You’ve just basically confirmed that Heart of Thorns will not release prior to August… in fact, it most likely won’t release in August either based on the date of the GCC.

Looks like it’ll be a Christmas release, if that at all.

Talk about reading into something a little too much…

Awesome games, pretty close but in the end oRNG served them up a nice slice of owned pie. So much ownage that Helseth “DCed” once (rage quit), told his team mate to alt f4 then claim it was a blue screen the next game, and figure out some way to “lag out” while passing through a gate to get stuck in yet another game!

Proposal Overview
System for Leagues
Goal of the Proposal
The intention of these ideas for the League system in Structured PvP is to provide a basis for structured rewards that feel rewarding to acquire, are fun to show off, and can be easily extended. This system assumes that there would be multi-month long seasons.

Details of Proposal with examples
Each division, as an example, would have 100 players in it. Within each division there would be certain thresh holds to acquire certain rewards. These rewards could potentially be armor sets, with individual pieces being rewarded at specific rank levels.

For example: Bob is placed 80th in his division. This allows him to purchase the armor set item: boots for (x) gold. Harry is placed in 3rd place, which allows him to purchase armor set items: boots,gloves,legs,chest,helm, and shoulders for (x) gold.

The armor would be an armor set that is exclusive to sPvP, but has an additional particle effect based on league. This would allow players to progress through each league and earn armor sets that distinguish their rough placement for the season.

Assuming the division order is Bronze then Silver; this is how the rewards would play out. Bob is placed 3rd place in Bronze division. He buys a full set of his bronze level armor with corresponding bronze shiny particle effects. Harry just got high enough to qualify for Silver division, so he is now in 80th place in the Silver division. Harry can now buy the full armor set from the bronze division in addition to the boots from the Silver division. Harry can now run around in all of his Bronze division gear with the replacement Silver division shiny boots.

End of Season Rewards

Achievement category with completion being possible without particular placement that rewards a weapon of the players choice. In addition, players that are in the top division would earn a title as well as a weapon with the same skin, but with a particle effect.

Proposal Functionality
*Multi-month seasons
*No new currency use, only gold
*Reward based on individual league placement
*Armor skin reward with corresponding league appearance
*Showing progression through armor
*One armor skin set per season (outside additional particle effects)
*One weapon set (outside additional particle effects)
*End of season participation rewards; including weapon skin
*End of season top performer awards; including weapon skin and title
*Strong potential for continued expansion of rewards through future seasons
Associated Risks
*The reward structure could result in people “skipping” lower tier division armor in order to save gold.
*Lower tier particle effects could look better to some people; making the system less progressive
*Players could get the skin they want and then stop pvping due to lack of other incentives

So it is okay that WvW players have to participate in dungeon content in order to get 500 marks for a gift from a dungeon and complete all the maps outside WvW, but it is not okay when PvE players have to WvW for a few days to get rank 30. Logic at it’s finest!

Are there plans for a 2nd Living Story patch in December? The current schedule indicates a December 24th patch, which is Christmas eve. I highly doubt you guys would patch then, but I am more curious if you are going to patch again at all until January.

PvE
1) Challenging PvE content with progression – My ideal progressive challenging content would be a system that rewards you with account bound items based on doing it a certain number of times as well as a chance at RNG drops that can be sold/traded.

2) Guild System improvements – Last online, unified influence system to allow for a guild to span multiple servers, easier ways to communicate without representing with all your guilds.

3) Reward system that is not so gold focused – One major issue with GW2 right now is that a lot of people tend to focus on the path of least resistance for money. Challenging content is not something people will do once they have their achievements as long as it is not the easiest way to make money. This whole issue can be relieved somewhat by introducing skins and items that are account bound in locations that provide a challenge.
4) New zones – I want to see new high level zones. We have not had a high level zone since Southsun (excluding temporary zones) that provides a permanent location in the game. I understand that there are not many systems in place to drive traffic towards a new zone currently, but this would need to be in place as well. Southsun should not be an excuse to not make a new zone (If it is for ArenaNet currently). It should absolutely be improved, but the only reason most people don’t go there is because there is no reward system that makes it compelling enough currently to go there.

5) More compelling events in the world with long lasting results – The event system is great in it’s current form, but it needs to evolve. The sense of permanenence that events once had has been shattered completely. Events that scale was a great start, but events need to last a long period of time with rewards to support it. The invasions were a great start to this, but there should be more. This would also be a great structure to support new reward systems and zones.

6) Dungeon Rewards – Simply put, dungeon rewards are not good enough. Even with the money that you get at the end, it is not worth the time. Looking back, the system would have been great; but now we have updated rewards across the game and dungeons have already been shrugged off as one of the least rewarding parts of the game.

7) Skin Locker – The amount of skins we have is absolutely getting insane. We need a place to infinitely withdraw them from. Without a system that encourages the collection of all the skins in the game people could very well end up getting overwhelmed by the amount of skins, and just stop caring about new ones. I understand ArenaNet needs to make money, but perhaps a way to unlock skins permanently to withdraw them with the cost of a transmutation stone. Living story meta achievement skins should be free when they are unlocked as part of this system and skin sets from the gem store should not cost to withdraw once purchased the first time.

8) Ascended Availability – I understand that weapons were just introduced and that armor is being introduced later this year, but there needs to be more ways to get these items. People who like to play a ton of alts get royally messed up over this. You should not HAVE to craft to get these items. I know they are available via RNG, but there is no time gated method of acquiring these items otherwise. All other ascended gear in the game has these mechanics, but weapons/armor only have crafting. Yes, I know that crafting is time gated, but everything else (short of Backs) have 2-3 time gated mechanics to acquire them.

9) Fractal Rewards – Fractals need a better reward system. The amount of time you have to put into a fractal run at higher levels is absolutely insane compared to the amount of reward you get out of it. This is especially an issue when you compare it to other, more rewarding parts of the game.

sPvP
1) Better Reward system – This is absolutely the most important thing that sPvP needs right now. There needs to be a system that can stand the test of time and provide a compelling sense of progression for sPvP players.
2) Reward Crossover – While better rewards are part of this, I feel like this is an independent topic. A better reward system alone would make a ton of people happy and potentially bring in some new sPvP players, but this is what will really do it. sPvP players and PvE players should be able to benefit from both sides of the coin. An sPvPer should have ways to earn money, experience, karma, and PvE skins in sPvP. If a PvE player earns skins through other parts of the game, they should be able to bring it into sPvP. I understand that currently this is the main reward structure and skins are an indication of progression, but as part of a changed reward system for sPvP this won’t matter as much.

I remember seeing a couple of interviews with you Chris and a couple of other members of ArenaNet where you guys discussed your strives as a company towards the next challenge all the time. I am curious if this is the direction you are taking. Living Story being the last challenge you guys faced as a company; then “Collaborative Development” as the next one. It sounds very interesting to me and I really like where this is heading.

Absolutely! Agreed! WP is a really great supporter of the Guild Wars community. I remember when I first got into his videos. He had a series that covered a ton of different aspects of lore from the original Guild Wars. This actually got me excited about the lore and even led me to going back and playing through some of the expansions I had not touched!

Please make it so if you jump off a cliff with the crystal it gives the people credit for the achievement who were attacking you. Right now people are griefing by running off cliffs with them. Also please nerf Like the Wind because everyone just picks air..

Time enforced progression and crafting

I’d like to express my worries about the trend you’ve been going on for a while. I’m a dedicated player which has all the professions (8 of them) at level 80. Ever since ascended gear was introduced I had some issues… getting all the gear for my characters takes 8 times longer.

Now sure, some would say I dug my own grave, but my arguments are simple and I don’t consider them to be to greedy or over the top.

I played other mmos, most notably WoW… I’m not asking you to turn into WoW. But wow would allow me to play 8 times as much in order to obtain my gear.

So a brief history of my leveling and adventuring:

1) My first character, a shy little Mesmer discovers the world and gets to 80
2) Experiance as much of the game as possible pve, spvp, tpvp, wvw.
3) Level up all the other professions, learn their play styles (this was surprisingly easy and fast)
4) Ascended gear introduced, run fractals every second of the day get random drops nothing ever fits my builds/gear.
5) Get a total of 5 ascended rings ever.
6) Ascended ring tokens introduced (10 = 1 ring), farm 20 tokens (no drops mind you) finally get rings for main, never do fractals again! my alts can throw themselves of a bridge. Infuse etc. (I got to F30 with 0 agony res)
7) Get back piece with relics, upgrade etc. Same story, I’m not gonna grind so many hours for my alts. (I know I can craft them, but your basically saying more alts = more gold)
8) Amulets introduced, these can only be purchased through Laurels a new currency. Obtained at 1 per day and 20 per monthly. This means you can get 1.6 amulets per month.
9) Accessories introduced, 5 gold and 12 guild tokens. Ignoring that guilds had to level up to get access to all 6 guild tokens a week, that limits you to a month to get 2 accessories for 1 character. Or you can pay 40 Laurels and 50 Ectos, which means 2 months and 20 days + gold for 2 accessories.
10) Celestial gear and the new shards 1/day resource. If I’d wanted to gear a character not only would I need the recipie before hand (which completely over rides the crafting system, as most good looking gear overrides the crafting with the forge), I would only get 1 resource per day considering I got 25 shards.

Conclusion:

I would currently need to run 160 fractals. – Rings
Complete daily and monthly for 5 Months. – Amulets
Complete Guild missions each week for 8 months or complete daily and monthly for 7.1 months + gold – Accessories
And an additional 14800 relics – Back slot

Now you’re saying you want to add new 1/day materials in order to craft ascended armor and weapons. How many months do you want me to play for 48 armor slots that I have to replace +/- weapons I’d like to use.

Fyi the way Colin has made it sound is that the crafting of actual ascended gear is once per day which is absolutely reasonable. The crafting mats require 1 day as well, but from what it sounds like this is based on a ‘per craft’ basis. So for example, if you were to combine 2 t6 cooking mats up to t7 you can do that once on a character, and then again on another character who has cooking.

If anything, none of this “account wide” stuff has been confirmed yet and I am inclined to believe that based on what we have gained so far as far as information goes we have no reason to not believe it could be “per craft” daily.

Fractal Capacitor (Infused) Skin change

So I initially upgraded the exotic fractal capacitor in the FOTM to the Ascended version. I later skinned it to the flower skin. I would like to know if I can upgrade the flower skin to the Fractal Capacitor (Infused) by first upgrading it to the Beta Fractal Capacitor (Infused) and then to the glowy version.

My main question is: Can you upgrade a fractal back that was skinned back to a fractal back for the look?

Mind telling us what part of the update you are looking forward too the most?

It is hard to say. I am probably going to enjoy the addition of the achievement rewards the most though, but I am looking forward to the Sanctum Sprint. I am already an achievement hog, so the achievement system will just make me double my efforts I already put into achievements by making everything in the game that offers achievements an additional goal to shoot for.

I am really looking forward to seeing the Bazaar itself too.

I am so excited for this update I am practically bursting at the seams. Guys you have outdone yourself on this one, props! I recently started to play the game after a several month break and then you guys decide to throw a patch with tons of great content at me. You have some nerve; making me play your game so much! Keep it up with these updates and even some of us won’t be able to reach the incredibly high bar you guys have set for yourselves.

Am I the only one who is disappointed that they do not show WvW progression ranks as a leader board? I was under the impression that when they said “WvW Rankings” this is what it meant since we already get WvW rankings every week.

given the fact that its the spvp forums i dont think many will care, although, whats the point of showng wvw ranks? it would be like showing pvp ranks.

Then what is the point of showing achievements? People care about this kind of stuff. Just because you personally do not see the point does not mean that other people don’t. Some people like getting high on leader boards even if it just means spending more time playing. The only reason I posted here is because the leader boards thread is located in the sPvP forum.

It was mentioned in one of the previous State of the Games that the team was looking at ways to get rewards that can be brought back and fourth from sPvP to PvE. Any update on this? I don’t really think that many people play sPvP because they don’t see a point since there is a complete disconnect from progressing in PvE.

Was getting minor lag in fractals but sPvP was pretty much unplayable (Sanctum of Rall). Not my connection or my pc, everything else works flawlessly. Please fix this ArenaNet.

Maybe this is not the appropriate forum for this, but it seems to be the logical place to put it. If it is not, please move the post. I am just curious about how many people who were banned that claim innocence. Obviously some people are lying, but how many people are claiming they are not botting and are banned? This would be a good way to get an idea of how many people are in the “line” and just how serious this issue is. Please only make one post if you can, that way we can just match the post count with the number of bans.

This also is reassuring to those of us who are innocent because it makes us more comfortable that so many people are in the same boat.

One thing I find kinda strange about how they suspend accounts is that they do not message the suspected player. I understand bots can probably be programmed to say random responses, but if they ask a specific question at random they can easily determine if it is a human or not. Something simple like “What is your favorite class?” or “What build do you like to run?” would work wonders in avoiding the banning of future innocents. This is a common practice in other MMOs that ban botters and could work just as well for them.

With as many people being falsely banned as there are, it is quite shocking that there has been no official word from ArenaNet in a bigger announcement type format. This is getting absolutely silly. I have been banned for nearly 2 days now and I have seen probably over 100 people post on this forum about being falsely accused. Now obviously there is some people who are really bots and I don’t blame ArenaNet for taking their time to reinstate accounts that were banned prematurely, but this is getting out of hand. It is unacceptable for any MMO developer to ban people from a service like this without any form of compensation. People should at least get some free gems out of this or something. I am being patient as I possibly can.

It is very scary and stressful to think that I could be banned forever from a game I enjoy for something I did not do. I know, being innocent, I should not worry about it..but it is hard not to. I know there are a lot of other people in the same boat as me, who know they are innocent but are scared they won’t get unbanned. Sure, ArenaNet tells us that if we are innocent our account will be restored…but in that case; why were we banned in the first place? If they can prove our innocence, shouldn’t they have been able to do that in the first place?

I was just in Orr doing a dynamic event and all of a sudden I was getting ported around. I was not sure what was happening and actually thought it was lag. All of a sudden my game screen went black and I had to alt-f4. Once I tried to get back it in, it said I was banned for botting. I have submitted a ticket and would like this resolved asap please.

My world completion reward never came through. I got the achievement and the star but never received the chest with the gifts or anything else.
