I play gc ele in spvp and it’s great fun. The build I run is a bit different from the video posted above since it utilises damage modifier traits to achieve the massive damage. with the build 0/6/5/3/1 with arcane wave, lightning flash and ice bow, zerker amulet, scholar runes and fire and air sigils. The damage achievable with this build is true burst.
Also, unlike in the video where the burst were killing the medium and light golems the burst of the build I run can kill the heavy golem in a shorter time.
ok so the burst build that use in hotjoins is 0/30/25/10/5 with ether renewal, arcane wave, lightning flash and armour of earth for stomps.
the traits are:
Air – Bolt to the heart, Air training, tempest defense
Earth – Stone Splinters, Earth’s embrace
Water – Vital Striking
The build is based all around damage modifiers as follows:
Bolt to the Heart – 10% more damage when foe’s health is below 33%
Air Training – 10% more damage when attuned to air
Tempest Defense – 20% more damage to stunned or knocked down foes
Stone Splinters – 10% more damage when within 600 units of target
Enduring Damage – 10% more damage when endurance is full
Vital Striking – 10% more damage when health is above 90%
Scholar Runes – 10% more damage when health is above 90%
Sigil of Force – 5% extra damage
So all up at total of 85% extra damage
Here is the link to the build http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fEAQJArYhEmKbzR4gjEAkCoMZ0RIiHW4gEVBA-ToAg0CnI4SxljLDXSuscNoYWA
The combo for the burst is
1. Hurl
2. Lighting Flash
3. Earthquake
4. Electric Discharge (from attuning to air)
5. Lighting Strike
6. Arcane Wave
7. Lighting Strike from sigil will happen somewhere in the burst
This initial burst hits for somewhere around 20K
If that doesn’t kill your oppenant follow it up with RTL > Updraft > Phoenix to down them
The next part for somewhere around 5 – 7K
have fun
I run this build for a bit of fun in hotjoins and I can tell you it is not as simple as it seems…
He zapped at me and killed me with 2 sequential hits.
In fact its not 2 hits its 7:
1. Hurl
2. Lighting Flash
3. Electric Discharge (from attuning to air)
4. Earthquake
5. Lighting Strike
6. Arcane Wave
7. Lighting Strike from sigil will happen somewhere in the burst
This initial burst hits for somewhere around 20K
Also you most likely had a squishier build to be downed from the initial burst because most of the time i need to follow the burst up with RTL > Updraft > Phoenix to down them
The next part for somewhere around 5 – 7K
This damage is only achieved due to ALL of the damage modifier being made, especially from tempest defense trait when using the knock down from earthquake .
The traits and conditions that need to be met are:
Bolt to the Heart – 10% more damage when foe’s health is below 33%
Air Training – 10% more damage when attuned to air
Tempest Defense – 20% more damage to stunned or knocked down foes
Stone Splinters – 10% more damage when within 600 units of target
Enduring Damage – 10% more damage when endurance is full
Vital Striking – 10% more damage when health is above 90%
Scholar Runes – 10% more damage when health is above 90%
Sigil of Force – 5% extra damage
So all up at total of 85% extra damage

The downside to this build is
– If you miss your earthquake the burst wont be nearly as effective and only take around half of their health
– Lighting Flash has absolutely 0 z axis movement so if you are on a hill or below a tiny ledge and use it you will waste your whole burst
– If the opponent survives the burst for any reason you have next to no sustain to win the fight
– The burst is on a 40 second cooldown so its unlikely to be able to perform it twice in a fight.
As many of people in this thread have said; it’s a one trick pony. The reward for succeeding with the burst is a close to guaranteed kill but if you mess up the burst it’s a close to guaranteed kill for the opponent.
For me I have my attunements on the left column of the Naga (1, 4, 7, 10), heal on 2 and utilities and elite on the right column (3, 6, 8, 12) so my left hand can focus on weapon skills and moving. I’ve used this setup since launch and just comes second nature now
So I’ve recently hit 80 with my ele and am wondering what gear to get. I mainly PvE but haven’t done any dungeons or fractals (just trying to get my 100% world completion) and I’m looking to get into WvW. I’ve seen on other posts that PVT armour is the best to for eles get but its so kitten expensive, so are their any other alternatives?
So best armour for:
1.Open world PVE
2.Dungeons/ Fractals
3. WvW
thanks in advance
It’s nice to see chars get in touch with their fabulous side in pic 1 :P For me the other two pics are fairly average.
pic1: 8/10. pic 2:6/10. pic 3: 7/10.
Here’s my ele
Here’s my Elementalist Elensi with an action shot :P I’m pretty happy with her look, might try T3 cultural legs though when i get enough money.
Ok guys this is just an idea of a pvp team.
5 Mesmers, all with the same face, hair, height ect. and all have a jumble of letters (i.e yyajdg) for a name with just one letter being different per character. All have the same weapons and using a clone build.
The idea would be to always run with at least one team mate and when fighting summon all of your clones so then there will be 8 copies for your opponent to choose from.
What do you think of this idea? Post comments below
