When is GVG and ingame rankings coming ?
I’ve been wishing for ingame PvP rankings/ratings ever since the game got out.
My main is ranger and I’m very happy with this nerf. Good job Anet!
Every change that takes more skill to pull off is a good thing. Though I agree with most people out here when they say, the real problem is still there. Many traits and utility’s that don’t make any sense and are left unused. There are only a few viable builds left, in which the spirit ranger still stands out the most. I hope Anet now takes the time to look into some serious ranger issues and comes up with more build variety.
Overall, good changes. Keep them coming!
Please add a way to see your arena rating in game.

Ok, now which is it? I have 3 different people saying that fun means 3 different things. This is what I meant when I said fun is subjective.
To some people, it’s fun to knock people off the edge of skyhammer. To others, it’s fun to be matched up against equally skilled players. To even more, it’s fun to feel like you’re great at the class you play.

“Fun” is when you see heart of the mists filled with more and more people. Thats when you know you’re doing a good job. Currently the mists are more full then lets say 1 or 2 months ago, so there are positive things happening.
I’ve been playing since game release and I’m still having fun. 1 game mode is not the issue for me. I do miss the incentive for becoming really good or finding a team to play with, so I’m stuck doing soloQ.
The issue for me personally is:
There is no good way for glory to spend and there is no way to show that you’re better then someone else. I don’t want my rating to be seen on internet, I want to see it in-game next to my name. Also, I want other people to see it. This kind of incentive for me, makes a game really fun

It seems that nobody really knows why spirit rangers are so effective. I’ll tell you all a little secret. It’s not the spirits effects what makes it so good. It is the fact that they act as a barrier around the player, what makes it really hard to target. And unlike minions, they dont go attack a target, they stick around the ranger as glue. If Anet would introduce a better targeting system, this problem is solved.

I’m really happy with the changes this last patch!! Finally random maps and team arena seperated from soloQ. This now opens the final option I’ve been looking out for all along. Yes, A guild rank!!! Team arena is new the perfect setup for having a guild rank
For me personally blind is very anoying, because i can’t use my second skill effectively when being downed (my main is ranger). In other words, blind is just as effective as stabillity when it comes to killing a downed person. As it is so easy to spam, it makes Necro’s, Guards and Rangers downed abilitys pretty much useless. Other then that blind is fine.
Devs, mayby a good option is to make downed skills immune to blind?
Or mayby an immune to blind trait when being downed. That would be niceThe only classes which can’t use their second downed skill absolutely are Warrior, engineer, and necro.
Guardians and rangers #2 is instant cast, so even in Black powder, you can burn the blind with your 1 skill and immediately hit your 2 skill before the blind pulses again. It’s happened to me plenty of times.
Srry, yes i forgot warrior and engineer. Another reason not to run a warrior in tPvP. Also, the ranger instant skill is only good when you cast it right before you die, not at start, since it only interupts an attack and does not knockback.

In case you didn’t know, Necro’s are still really good, if not OP!

Because now the OP build 30/30/10/0/0 is less valid, which means you have to use a little more skill to win now
I think immunity to conditions as a trait is not ok. They should change it to 30-50% shorter condition duration when below 50% health.

What warriors did you meet? one stunbreaker and some blind never stopped me.
Even if I admit they’d give the enemy the time to focus me down.
The thing is, the blind duration is long enough to take a warrior (yes, also a good warrior) down to zero with this build. The blind pulses, so it reapplys itself every second. This build also has permanent weakness spam. Only defence a warrior has is the immune to conditions stance, which lasts 8 secs and has a long CD of 60 secs.

You just found out? necro is best pvp period.

skills, consume conditions, blood is power, signet of spite, well of corruption, flesh golem.
Enjoy you are now capable of killing everything in pvp. If you are not using necro then don’t complain you will soon figure out how strong it is

Cool looking armour is not supposed to be easy to get. In PvP you need incentive. So, yes, you would need to make a team, play a lot, and strife for a high rating. That’s what e-sports are all about! Noobs that can’t play should look like noobs who can’t play! This is not PvE after all.
Warrior, the new Ranger!
I’ve played ranger since this game first got out. Now that Anet nerfed every viable build out there I rerolled to warrior. I play both longbow/rifle warrior now and I’m very succesfull with it. I’m having more fun playing a warriorranger then playing a ranger right now, which does feel a little weird. Melee warriors are carbage though, only getting blinded, stomped or cond spammed. Only when mars is alligned with he moon you seem to be able to land a hit. Gotto love when the hammer hits though! Epic

In a team fight AOE is a lot more important then hitting single targets. Rangers can only hit a single target and have little AOE, which makes them overall balanced. I do agree that on 1 vs 1 rangers are the best class out there. Do they need a nerf? Yes some pet skillz do, like the raven. But overall, no, they are just fine.

In an earlier post i said special PvP armours should be made avaible at a certain rank. I did not mean rank as in total glory. Forgive me for my deception. With rank i ment rating as in the leaderbords we have right now. Like only the top 10, 100, 1000 and so on can buy special PvP armours when they have aquired a certain rating. And ofcourse only the no.1 can aquire a godlike armour. This way you can actually see how good someone is and this gives you something to show off.
I think for a lot of people, these 3 things can make a drastic change to PvP.
- Special PvP armours which you can obtain at a certain rank. Anet can even ask gems to buy it for, so they can make a little profit.
- The abillity to wear your PvE looks in PvP. This was 1 of the things that made Guildwars 1 so succesfull.
- The option to transfer glory into gems, even if you just get a little bit. You can tranfer gold to gems, so why not glory?The first two point, for me personally won’t make any difference, it’s just about the good-looking feeling. Your third point will never be implemented in the game, it’s like if PvE players asking for transfering karma into gold/gems.
In general I can tell you the things that made GW1 so successfull had nothing to do with armors and stuff like that. It was more about a better reward-system, good progression, a real title-system, solid ladder, several game-modes, ingame observer mode, automated tournaments daily and monthly, prestige stuff like emotes/capes etc.
Well this is my view of the situation. . .
I won’t argue with that. I have played Guild wars 1 and I enjoyed it for many reasons, including yours. But besides gameplay, It’s all about the looks and showing off. It might not effect you directly, but with many new people wanting to join up for PvP, you gain a healthy population. So in the end it will make you happy to.

Warriors just need a higher base damage that’s all. 20 to 25 % sounds fair
The truth is BM rangers are best vs warriors. Warriors rely on melee damage and rangers can dodge that easy. While dogdeging the pet kills the warrior
. BM rangers weakness is Immobelize + conditions.
Devs making money out of PvP is a really good thing. The more money PvP makes, the more love it will get. They could for instance hire an entire crew to work on balancing, tournamants, even real prize money. Also I would love to see Special PvP armour bought with gems which you can aquire at a certain ranking. These kind of things makes you wanna play over and over again…

Yes it was. First months of this game PvP was really active.

I hope Devs will seriously look into this matter,
Build diversity is very limited, mainly because of the limited amount of amulets.
I think it would be very wise to implement a custom made amulet in which u can choose how much points you want to spend on different attributes. This will give rise to an unique set of new builds in which players can distinguish themselves.

I believe Anet is one of the first to implement a rating which you actually can’t see.

I for one love this new idea!
It’s true that some classes will be a lot better in carrying the orb then others, but then again, other classes will be a lot better at killing the orb carrier. This will sure give a new dimension to the PvP experience and we’ll just have to see how it works out.
A simple solution would be, don’t make it so that you can kill a downed person while in invurability mode. Problem solved!

I’m afraid your logic makes to much sence. We live in a different world now…
PvP is in war, because people need their mouth in order to proove their existance. Normally u would have a rating for that, so u can just diss a person by showing it off.
My idea:
- Paid tournys should make place for Rated tournys (or mayby even better, Guild tournys).
- Free tournys stay unrated
- Besides personal rating there should be a Guild rank which starts from 1 (best team) – to 10.000 or more for the worst guild alive.
This gives the oppertunity for people to practice and form a decent team to get ready for rated games. I said it before, but i will say it again. I think Guild rating is a lot more important then a personal rating. It’s the ultimate motivation for a team to getter and show of their skills.

I really like the 1v1 system. Just add random maps and we’re good to go.

I’m starting to feel really old now. I was a fanatic gamer back in the old days when games like red alert 2 and age of mythology where top of the bill. Amazing clans en ranking systems they had. Made you feel like you what you did actually ment something.
Then Guildwars 1 came along and I was schocked at how amazing is was.
PvE was all about making ur character look cool for playing PvP. You had Guild vs Guild battles with ladder, solid maps, death penalty, u name it. You would farm all day in PvE just to get that 1 special weapon to show of in PvP. And the diversity of builds you could make with 1 class was amazing.
That’s why i expectet this game to at least have some of the amazing PvP features from Guildwars 1. It seems like many of you people don’t ever care anymore.
I can only say, you don’t know what you’re missing!

I hope devs understand we are not really mad at them but that we are just sad that the game is not using it’s full potential. I for one, love this game and I spend a lot of time playing it. The game is already good, but now It’s time to make it perfect!!!!
I think the most important SPvP feature is a leaderbord with a guild rank based on guild vs guild battles. Way more important then a personal rank, because this game is based on teamplay. This is one of the things that made Guildwars 1 so succesfull, so why not do it again?

SPvP is about satisfying our ego’s. In order to do that you have to be able to stand out.
When I win I want my victory to be celebrated. I want people to be talking about me.
I want (mostly) women and men kissing my feet. I want my enemys to shiver when hearing my name. When I loose I wanna feel hurt. I want to feel the pain when someone kills me and I want to feel the satisfaction of taking revenge. I just want to feel…….
What SPvP needs most of all is a satisfying leaderbord and also armours exclusive to the top players! Give us something in order to stand out!

How do you know this is a bug? I have not noticed any information about this being an “instantaneous effect” I searched but could not find Anet stating that either. Maybe you could link it for me?“Waterfield does not apply regeneration when using physical projectile”
I usually see the graphics for the effect but have not actually tested and checked if the mechanic actually works. I will have to check that out.Haven’t tested after last patch but I did tests pre patch and had 100% regen application to my pet when using 100% projectile finishers on golem test subjects. It’s an easy test to run. Hard part with projectile finishers is getting the projectile to pass through the friendly target you want to get the regen on the way to the target it is hitting. Unlike negative effect projectile finishers. Golems make easy test subjects with our pet however.
Isn’t the regen supposed to apply on you? Besides healing spring giving you regeneration the water field should give you an extra bonus when using projectile finishers. Mayby I’m wrong, but I really think this is supposed to work on yourself to

Axe 4 also will not boomerang it back to you.
It does not work on my pet either. I have just tested it. Make sure your trait “fortifying bond” is off and you will see. It will only apply regen to your pet if it is standing in the healing spring. This however has nothing to do with waterfield combos.

“It might not be called a bug, but it is anoying as hell. Let me point out why. Imagine you are downed and you have juvenile wolf with you. You want him to use Fear. Instead the dog does another skill first and the F2 skill activates later. Usually up to 2-3 secs delay. Boom ur dead. Also, imagine you want to save your downed teammate by using fear. Before fear activates your teammate is already dead. F2 skillz just need to work when you need them to.”

There are still some very important bugs that haven’t been fixed and which affects the gameplay of rangers very much.
1: Lick wounds does not work 50% of the time
2: Waterfield does not apply regeneration when using physical projectile
3: Pet Skill F2: Does not apply instantly when activated (up to 2 second delay)
I know there are a lot of bugs still to be fixed but these 3 seem most important. If you can’t count on lick wounds to heal you when needed, ur doomend in sPvP. Also the waterfield (caused by healing spring) is very important to rangers. Besides empathic bond and signet of renewal it is the only skill that can cure conditions on you and does not kill ur pet in the meantime. Healing spring is also the only skill that can give you regeneration. This is essential for if you wanna keep alive a little longer. The downside is that is does not apply regeneration when using combo finisher: physical projectile. I don’t think many ppl have noticed it yet, but it really does not work!
So plz devs, fix these bugs!
