I am not sure where I read it, but I definitely read a dev post which said they were working on auto-attacks on engineer kits and it would be sorted out fairly soon.

Dungeons, karma and medium effort rewards

Hey Arenanet, firstly thanks for giving us an amazing game.

Now then,

As I see it you have a problem at endgame.

Part of the problem is that there are some very easy endgame rewards (crafted exotics etc) and there are some very challenging-to-get end game rewards (dungeon gear, legendaries) but there is nothing inbetween.

There is a huge gaping hole for middle ground players that want to play fairly regularly but dont want to farm day in and day out.

You also have a hugely under-utilized currency resource; namely karma, which is leaving players fairly puzzled.

This whole set up is leading to huge threads of disgruntled players who are hitting a point in the game where they are at a loss.

There no doubt, lots of ways this could be remedied but here is one from me;

At the completion of an explorable dungeon – reward a chunk of karma and one dungeon token.

For sake of argument lets say 2000 karma (the numbers are just for the example)
Then make each dungeon piece cost one dungeon-specific token and some karma (again for example 10,000 karma).

What would this achieve?

Well, this way, to build a full dungeon set instead of having to do the same dungeon over and over again, you could explore and experience all the dungeons while you worked towards your set of choice.

Or, if you prefered you could build your karma for the karma set in Orr – the player has been given back some choices.

It would mean that rewards for players would come more steadily and we move away from the idea of dungeon grind, which is causing a lot of forum heat.

Its important to keep to single dungeon-specific token to ensure that you have to complete the dungeon where the set drops to keep the set tied to the dungeon it comes from.

There would have to be some final adjustments to make it work;

There would need to be a vendor to sell unwanted dungeon tokens for a little more karma.

The prices of level 80 karma items may also need to be readjusted for balance.

The added bonus of this would be that as there is an end game way of building karma, you can easily add new karma items to the game, they could be fairly cheap or crazy expensive to keep players interested and rewarded in the periods between expansion and updates. This could give ‘middle effort’ players targets to aim for.

Anyway, I appreciate that I am not a game designer and have probably misread the end game situation, so thanks for taking the time to read the post. I’m looking forward to see how the game matures and improves.

Much Love!

I would give my endgame feedback but...

Well, I hit level 80 on my first guy. I loved the levelling experience immensely, it was an incredible amount of fun. It was immersive, interesting and well worth the money I have spent.

Now that I have hit 80, I am finding the game a bit less fun. It’s not terrible for me, just not very satisfying. I really would like to give Anet some feedback on why I am personally not enjoying this part of the game as much as the levelling.

I’d like to give it in a constructive way, sharing my positive experiences and my negative ones. I know that this is EXACTLY the point and purpose of forums – to give feedback, share views and make suggestions – which helps Anet get an accurate picture of how the customers are finding the game. I know this is what Anet want.

I’d like to do all that, but I can’t

Why?

Because every single critical post in this forum is highjacked by the same few posters and torn to shreds. It is ruining any decent debate.

I have a read through of the code of conduct and it does say

•Avoid frivolous and duplicate postings.

but there is a small core of people laboring pretty much the same point over and over again in almost every post that dares to suggest something they don’t agree with.

I really enjoyed giving feedback in the beta, and I would really enjoy giving feedback now but at the moment the forums are too intimidating and quite frankly I’d rather go bare knuckle against Tequatl.
