You can tank for 5 secs? unbelievable I must suck

My build currently is 30 fire 20 air 20 arcane, with blasted staff and ele attunement, Power / precision / + Crit damg gear, mostly attunement swapping for buffs the larger aoe staff attack really helps and I can manage to kite up to 8 mobs (melee, never bother trying to get more) I think it’s a very generic ele build prob easiest to play for dungeons since you can pretty much just spam large aoe at a decent range with decent group buffs and some utility.

Glass Cannon Kite build

30 fire 20 air 20 arcane, you’ll have to learn to attunement swapping,

30 fire: 10 point trait(Internal Fire), 20 point(Pyromancer’s Alacrity(15%) CDR), 30 point(either, Pyromancer’s Puissance or Persisting Flames depends both decent, Persisting Flames are prob better for Aoe?)

20 Air: 10 point(Quick Glyphs), 20 point(Boil to the Heart(more for dungeon boss fights))

20 Arcane: 10 point(Elemental Attunement this can be swapped if you take arcane skills, (shield, blast, wave) 20% arcane skill CDR is useful in that case), 20 point (Blasting Staff)

Skills I take, Glyph of Elemental Power, Glyph of lesser elemental, Mist form or (arcane shield) I like Mist form better personally. and elite is Glyph of Elementals.

So you can actually run around with Air attunement pull a bunch of melee mobs (this doesn’t work very well with ranged but doable)

Switch to water and use skill 4(Frozen Ground) aim it in front of the mob, it’s instant so you don’t have to time the cast. you can also use skill 2 real quick if you like.

Switch to fire drop your skill 5 meteor and 3 (aoe dot) and 2(lava) make sure you aim the ground aoes properly, not on the mobs since they are moving towards you, aim it ahead of their path.

Switch to Earth for skill 5 first, it roots mobs. it’s a line skill, so same concept as Earth Shaker’s fissure in dota. Then put skill 4(slow) in front of the mob, again skill 2 if you have time.

Switch to air for speed bonus from elemental attunement and Skill 4 if you want, then back to water to put skill 4(Frozen Ground) down again and heal your self if needed.

What you want to do is run in a circle and pivot the group of mobs in the Aoe range of your meteor, using slow root and swiftness.

if you do get hit you can mist form and heal. Against rangd mobs you can always pop earth skill 3 (ranged reflect) only 5 secs tho. and pop your Ele glyphs.

Always make sure you utilize your slows, with Glyph of Elemental powers you can chill mobs with any water skills, and use Frozen ground and Unsteady Ground and Shockwave on cool down to keep a good distance.

I would have to firmly disagree as to your terms of uselessness. Perhaps your spec differs from mine. I should not I usually roll in a group, and I am all about the combo’s.

I will begin with saying “the rain dance” bwe eles know this.
Next I will say- Not everything is about the damage.

Blasting staff trait to make all staff aoe’s larger (i think its blasting staff)

Earth- hands down my fav skill. Free blast finisher with bleed yes thank you.

Follow with choice of water or fire, Combo field. Took evasive arcana? Have a sigil of energy in your weapon? Youre about to become a combo GOD. Have arcane blast?

Hard to land? AOE’s were only hard to land during that stress test where everything ran from you and even then it wasnt hard. You merely had to snare first.

I think the reason you have problems is how you are trying to play the class, though I will admit waters primary attack is near useless.

Also “It’s almost never a good idea to switch attunements mid combat, as you’ll lose most of your DPS.”

Did you just say that? You seem to be stuck on dps is the only way to do things.

I have to agree on Water Blast, that skill needs some fixing it’s useless in pvp and pve even as a support spec. I think I have only used it a maximum of 10 times Since I started playing GW2, I am now 80 and still find my self never needing to cast that lol.

Theres no way to tell for sure unless they come out with some kind of damg meter, which i doubt they will.

Best bet stats wise is Power / Precision / Crit damg build 30 fire 30 air 10 arcane, or 30 fire 20 20 variations. works for both staff and scepter/dagger.

Maybe 30 Earth 30 fire 10 air?

Possible diminishing returns with each marginal speed bonus you stack?

Not sure how exactly you would figure out the math behind it but I am assuming you don’t want to use the signet of air and the trait together, since you prob don’
t get half as much as you should by using just one of the skills.
I think in combat and out of combat movement speed are totally different mathematically.
But if I had to guess signet and trait are probably all based off your base movement speed with a diminishing return, so if you have 100 movement speed it would do 100+(100*0.1)+(50 * 0.25)? just wildly guessing tho

eh I always switch to air for the speed bonus and ends up lighting strike a random mob from the air passive 15 point talent, then it puts me in combat and slows me down -_-. anyway to put that talent active on target? instead of just striking the closest mob?

How can i reset my email address when its been hacked and i dont know what they have changed it to . Please help dunno if its just me or am i missing something here.

My friend got the same response, and no that link did not solve her issue since it doesn’t work. It wouldn’t work because her problem was that the E mail isn’t being recognized in their database, and if it’s not working anywhere else why would it work here.

My friend had the same issue even when she already have been playing for a few days, she had a lvl 25 character and a lvl 17 character before she got the same error, it could be hacked or other technical issues that is happening at ArenaNet’s database since it does seem like the account doesn’t exist in their database anymore however if you do try to make a new account under the same e mail and cdkey it will tell you both are already in use. My guess is it is more technical than just getting hacked for this particular issue.
btw when you try to log in and get the E mail is not found error you get this error code in particular
Error Code: 3002:1008:1:462 and you can see on GW2 wiki(http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Error_code). it is listed as a unknown error.
It is not a incorrect password error not a Account banned error so what is it?
Any idea if ArenaNet can give us a clue on what exactly is causing this, because there are a lot of confusions on the forum about this error since most people who get the same thing assumes that they have been hacked, and others don’t.
Maybe Gaile can shed some light?

My friend had lost her account and it has been past 72 hours since the day she submitted her ticket, there is still no response from ArenaNet Support.

Perhaps this is a different issue that hacking, while I do not know exactly why this error is happening I do know that my friend who could not have access to his account due to this particular error have not been online since he lost access, which means that if it is a hacked account whoever hacked it just hacked it and left it, which doesn’t make much sense to me. I am not sure if this is created from some kind of database problem or such.

Perhaps ArenaNet can shed some light on what exactly is this Error and what we expect after getting this error, a hacked account or something else more technical?

I see that this post has been moved to technical support, just a clarification that when you get this error it is saying that your e mail doesn’t not exist in their database. it’s not a Technical issue related to software / hardware on client side, it’s more of a what happened to my account issue, since apparently it doesn’t exist anymore.

I think maybe there is a lack of communication between their support and whatever department in Arenanet(Maybe GMs?) that is banning people. You probably had a hacked account that did something illegal which causing the ban on your account before restoring it. Now they have restored it, they have just restored a banned account.

I have a friend in the same situation, let me know how long it takes before you get your account unbanned.

On this note I think there can be a request for a better system in place to prevent this kind of problems from happening, it would just generate more support tickets because now someone with an restored account would have to resubmit a ticket to get his/her account unbanned. Maybe the support agent can check for a ban after restoring the account? or the GMs can check through a list of hacked accounts before they make a ban, perhaps just a 72 hour lockout on the account if it is a hacked account. This would make sure the account is fully accessible for the customer, once its done with the support. Plus the extra time generated from this issue isn’t exactly pleasant for the players.

my question is, if you get unauthourized attempt does it mean they have your password? or are they trying to brute force it. to me an attempt does not mean “hey someone is logging in as you” it means “hey someone is TRYING to log in as you.” I let the attempts go for a couple of day and they havent taken anything off my characters or otherwise altered my account. but now after reading the forums i have now changed my password and email just in case.

also the possibility of me having a key logger is 0% and let me explain why.

Does that mean they have put in my username and password and just waiting for some fool to click authorize in the email? or does it mean they attempting to guess my password? This is important to know because it helps me guage what is compromised. I am not going to go through and change my passes and emails on everything everytime some clown is trying to brute force my arena net account, but if they actually have my password it would be nice to know and it would help me go through other stuff that they could have access to or found a way to get the password with, so you could see how it would make a big difference knowing which. I would appreciate it if only a GW2 staffer answered this as i do not want to take advice of joe schmo forum tech support. While i appreciate the effort to help i have also worked in the IT field for many years and would like to base my action/reactions on official answers only.

Also for consideration to the GW team, you guys should just region lock china out until they get their own version to play. 95/100 attempts i have seen all over the forums and the rest of the net say CN region, and a few from mexico.

I am 100% sure when you get a email saying that someone from china is trying to log in to your account they would have to actually log in to your account with the correct password before it gets to the authentication part. I have done this at work, where I usually log in at home and when I log in correctly at work, it will send me an email asking me if it is me trying to log in my account at this ISP/IP/Location.

I think generally how hackers in China are obtaining your password is using other forums and sites that they have hacked, perhaps an account database and they will match it by user name e mail and passwords. Since usually fansites and other forums don’t exactly encrypt their information. It is the logical way for them to use a customized program to trial and error each possible pws corresponding to each e mail. So all in all it’s not wise to use the same password for all your accounts, this is partially why Arenanet is telling us to use a unique password.

My friend had the same issue, I think you should follow the reporting hacked account instructions and submit your ticket properly. Right now they say it will be responded within 72 hours. Nothing else could be done at the moment but to wait for a response.

Authenticator would of been a great requirement for the release, I am thinking it would of prevented at least 70% of the customer support they gotta deal with right now. I am hoping they will put a more secure system in place, and I am sure they are working around the clock right now to get it done

Got the exact same error code, seems like her account isn’t being recognized in their database, she also had a e mail from arenanet saying someone (hopefully it was you) has changed the e mail on the account, however it was in her junkmail, it was from noreply@guildwars2.com but somehow filtered it into the junk
