Well that’s a bummer. It feels like they could have just added the missing parts for the level 1 NPC since the items that are sold scales after lvl 10. It’s not like it will make the PvE easier.
Hello! Since the new path came out, all my pvp characters (that were low lvl and were mainly wearing pvp gear) lost their items in the inventory and are now wearing basic armor. The thing is that I can replace the parts I already have, but I don’t have any helmet or shoulder parts, and I can’t seem to find any npc that sells lvl 1 parts for helmets and shoulders. Is this really how Anet intended it to be or what am I missing?
(and yes, I guess that I could lvl my characters to lvl 10, so I can buy the missing parts but I like to mix around a lot and this patch feels somewhat disappointing.)
Er, this is the best the ranger can do imo.
Yes sadly that is true. And that is exactly why it’s not worth it. I hardly see any reason to go support ranger as it is today. The swiftness is next to useless in normal dungeons (not sure about fracs). Regen, sure it’s nice but it’s better to have a dedicated support guardian that brings so much more to the party than just regen (not to mention that a guardian can heal a lot more than a ranger). The only thing that I can find as a really unique thing is the uptime for fury. But it’s rare that a ranger is the only one in the party that can bring the fury buff to the fight.
All in all, I’ve been trying out different build, especially one that is almost identical to yours, and I got to say that you can help your party a lot more by going for the generic DPS build that rangers got now. Get a dedicated support guardian and focus on dps instead.
(I don’t wanna talk about spirits in dungeons, I find spirits all too unreliable)

You didn’t understand my first point. I was saying that, out of all the pet choices we have, most of them are horrible for anything other than casual PVE. They give us some 40 pets, and yet 90% of the time I’m forced to use a bear, because anything else dies too quickly. Pets just feel so impersonal and expendable.
You must be using your pets totally wrong then. There’s so many ways for pets to be useful, just check out some of the guides that are on the internet. One of them being Jubskie’s awesome guide on pet usage. It’s seriously one of the best guides for pets atm, and it opened it up quite a lot of how I viewed my pet.
Now I can’t say that I can keep my pet all the time, but it’s rarely that my pet switch goes on a full 60sec cooldown. I’d suggest that you try and switch around according to which scenario you’re in. (For example the boss in CM p1, use spiders to keep him immobilized. The Red Moa can be useful by giving a 15sec fury buff for the whole party + a aoe heal etc etc). I’d say that your problem is that you’re thinking that pet should only gives raw DPS. Find two pets that synergises (I myself go canine/feline + a spider) and try something different than bears.
But what I do agree on is that switching pet makes them feel a bit impersonal. Why? Because their names go back to fricking “juvenile”. I know that they say that saving names for each pet for every ranger in the game takes a lot of space in the databases or something like that, but at least make the name stay between pet switching. That little details makes me wanna switch my pet a lot less than I should, just because it breaks my immersion and although writing a name for your pet takes less than 10 seconds, it’s still something they should fix.
A lot of ranger refuse to or dont know how to keep thier pets alive. Giving fuel to the notion that we do less damage. Some ranger refuse to master the 1h sword or melee in general adding to the fuel that we have less dps.
Can you blame them? I myself have really tried to learn how to use the 1h-sword properly, but it still feels clunky as hell.
I know it may seem like an obvious step but sometimes it’s best to start simply – have you tried repairing the client yet? If not, I’d recommend deleting the local.dat file and following that with the repair.
If you have any questions about doing this let me know!
That didn’t fix the issue unfortunately :/
I love doing dungeons, but this bug makes it a pain sometimes. Whenever I join a dungeon, it feels like it’s a 50% chance that my minimap will get stuck, which is quite annoying, because it makes me have to press M in order to find the information I want, instead of just checking my minimap.
I got no idea what’s causing this problem and I can’t find a thread that solves this problem either. Help?
You must not do dungeons at all, because you NEVER have pets doing any sort of damage once a boss starts attacking.
Sorry, but that’s complete bullkitten. I’m no hardcore ranger, but I’ve been playing the ranger class since a few months ago and I got no problem at all to keep my pet alive during a dungeon. If your pet is dying, then you are not controlling it well.
However, I do agree that rangers overall feel ill-suited for dungeons. The damage is as said not at high as the warrior or even the support guardian, so it just makes me sad that whenever I’m searching for a group, people mostly want warrior/guardian/mesmer. It’s not how the game should be played, forcing you into playing a class that you don’t enjoy.
“Fine, go with your guildies instead”. Yes, that’s true. But you can’t go with your guildies everytime depending on the situation. So I hope that Anet changes something, because it’s really tiresome to hear from everyone that ranger is a kittenty class.
We do honestly need Cantha. Factions was the first story that I actually completed (I got so tired of Nightfall and Prophecies for some reason) and it really made me appreciate the lore Guild Wars had. As someone else said, just give us the date and price and I’ll be saving my money to buy it!
