Fantastic. Thank you!
As far as I know the names are worldwide. It doesn’t matter which server you try to pick the name on, if it’s taken on one it’s taken on all. Try changing the last letter of the name to an ascii character perhaps?
Good luck.
Just checked the forums again after my problem was solved. I thought I would clear a few things up for everyone who posted. I listed my computer specs above so please refer back if you have any questions in that regard.
Here is exactly what happened with my computer and the issue I experienced.
I played GW2 for several hours Saturday afternoon with no problems. I even watched a couple movies on my computer, watched some YouTube videos, while playing GW2, again with no problems.
I went to dinner, left my computer on, but all programs closed.
Returned and logged into GW2, got to my character screen, and upon “zoning in” or actually entering the game my computer would shut down and restart. I did not press any shut down/power button. The computer would just shut itself down and reboot/restart whatever you want to say. It would shutdown/restart every time I actually tried going past the character screen.
I don’t know if SWTOR or Diablo3 require more or less resources than GW2 but I had no problem logging into those and playing those games. The computer would only shut down on GW2.
I tried updating my video driver, actually tried different versions after reading people were having the same problems, to no avail.
Jazhara made a suggestion and I tried that, and it solved my problem. I have been back up and running with no problems ever since. I did change my video driver to a different version at the same time.
So PSU failure or whatever other suggestions could have been reasonable suggestions as well, but in this case that isn’t the issue. My 800 watt PSU is still motoring along and like I said I have had no further issues.
Thanks for everyone’s attempts to offer advice and help. It is all appreciated.

Jazhara I don’t know exactly what that did, but I did it and am using driver 304.48 and got into the game.
Thank you for your response.
Jazhara I will give that a try, thanks.
Have tried Nvidia drivers:
306.97
306.23
301.42
currently using 304.79
same problem, computer runs fine, gpu temp 56C, log into game get to character screen, temps remain 40C on processor and 56C on gpu, try load into game, computer shuts down and restarts.
Any help or suggestions?
Thank you.
Was there a game update today or something? My game was running fine today, no problems ever, logging in, changing maps, etc. Went to dinner, came back and now as my character is phasing into the game upon launch my computer shuts down and restarts. Every single time. Like I said the game was running fine earlier today. I’ve made no changes, except updating to the latest Nvidia driver after the problem started happening.
My temps aren’t going above 50 celcius on the processor.
Logged into SWTOR and D3 and could run those games no problem. Tried GW2 gain, computer restarts.
Specs:
*Windows 7 64 bit – latest service pack *it updated in the last few days not sure which it’s on atm
*1TB HD
*12 mb DDR3 RAM
*Gigabyte X58A-UD3R MOBO
*Nvidia GTX570
*Intel i7-960 3.20GHZ
nothing is overclocked
Like I said, game was running fine earlier today, have made no hardware/software changes at all and game causes computer to restart. Updated driver to 306.97 and problem persisted. Went to a legacy driver 301.42 and problem persisted.
Any help would be great. Thank you.
