Mesmer nerfs and warrior buffs.
In my opinion, melee shatter build is the strongest mesmer DPS build (especially after the phantasms nerfs). Sword/focus is my main but you can also use sword/pistol or sword/sword. I use staff as a secondary and I find it a lot better than GS in that role.
Man, the balance guy from Arenanet must have had a really hard time against mesmers.
If I had a legendary GS, I would use it. However, I will never have one because I am convinced sword is a much better choice for a mesmer. To be honest I already regretted that I made vision of the mists since the last patch, I rarely equip it right not.
I’m going for Bolt. Haven’t seen any mesmer with it yet but the effect on all clones must be pretty awesome.
3. Of course, after the dodge check for the initial summon, the opponent can still dodge the beserker itself after it summons, meaning that outside of the bugs, your target still gets multiple chances to dodge.
That’s why I don’t understand these changes at all. Anyone could already dodge phantasm attacks. Now you can dodge the summon, and if you fail, you can still dodge the actual attack. You don’t have one chance to dodge, you have two. And people say it’s like every other class ? No, it’s not.
As far as I know, other classes AOE are still being cast when you are blinded. Just the first hit misses. With a mesmer phantasm (warden, berserker), there won’t even be an aoe, you just go on cooldown.
Why would aegis block a phantasm that would normally hit 10 times, while other classes will only get their first hit blocked?
You can even dodge a defensive phantasm. Can I dodge other classes protections? I don’t see any sense in that.
If I’m blinded, why not just summon a blinded phantasm. This would make sense, at least.
Who said mesmer is bad for PvE solo/leveling? No, mesmer is awful for tagging mobs in events, nothing else.
Not a single GS Mesmer in my guild (fastest growing WvW guild on the server) has complained about GS being nerfed.
Most of them haven’t even noticed, and only one of them disliked the changes brought in with the patch, and that was the increased portal cooldown.So it looks like some Mesmers just can’t play the class right or relied too heavily on bugs to win.
Cool story, but if your mesmers don’t even notice that 60% of their main damage ability is gone, they probably don’t play the class any better than people on this forum.
I’ve been playing almost exclusively mesmer since beta, even though I was expecting nerfs to come. I even always said the berserker LOS was just an obvious bug and it would be fixed sooner or later.
But the rest of this patch isn’t just a nerf, they literally broke the illusion mechanics while making greatsword worthless – taking out one of our only reliable AOE at the same time. This is not an acceptable way of “balancing”.
Indeed berserker damage feels completely off. For god’s sake I’ve had several times zerkers hitting for 700 damage on summon (and it was a full spinning, they didn’t die during the animation or anything like that). Even without crit it’s ridiculously low damage as I have 3k attack.
I hope this is just a bug that will addressed quickly. In the meantime, my greatsword will remain in my inventory. At least warden and warlock don’t seem affected …

I don’t know how you guys manage to have fun in this hacking fest. I haven’t spent so many hours in WvW during this matchup but when I was there, there was not a single day I haven’t witnessed some kind of hacks.
Tonight I started playing in some borderland, some hacker from GH was pissing off everyone, making our actions pointless, and eventually our people started logging off. Then the legit (I hope) GH players were free to capture all we had with 10-15 people – and as I was one of the last remaining to defend our last keep, I don’t even want to know how they managed to take our inner gate down instantly after the outer gate.
I don’t want to blame the GH players or anyone, they are just playing their game and most of them probably don’t even know what was happening. But I don’t see where is the good fight there.
I want to fight for AG, I don’t mind being outnumbered, but what are we supposed to do against hacks? I feel it’s pointless to even port to WvW if at some point a random hacker will come ruling the area and screw up the matchup. Arenanet better do something before more people get sickened of WvW.
I just checked and nothing was changed anyway. But I don’t expect it to remain that way forever.
Meh they fixed an obvious bug, how silly of them.
Yeah free transfers have been killing this server over the past few weeks. It’s ridiculous to see that 1 week ago we were winning during the weekend, and now we are outmanned on almost every maps on a saturday afternoon against a lower ranked server.
Instead of telling me to play better (you don’t even know me or how we tried this part so many times), tell me how YOU do it. If you want to help. I do CoF in under 30 minutes with a good team with barely any deaths, so I would say I know how to play quite well. It takes more than 3 mobs continuously hitting me in CoF to kill me. A single graveling in AC can kill me in two shots. Same gear setup. Is that ok for you?
In short this is how I do it (assuming you mean the path 1 kill burrows thing):
- Get a stunbreaker
- Make sure the NPC doesn’t take damage
- Focus on the 2 west burrows and kill the breeder before moving on to the other burrows (not the only way, I’ve even seen PuGs doing it successfully without any real plan but it seemed easier that way)
I honestly can’t understand how you can die in 2 shots, especially as a warrior. When I went there for the first time none of us was 80 or geared and after a few wipes we figured it out eventually… Since then I’m not sure I ever died again in that part, even in PuG.
The misses on burrows are annoying. Regardless of that AC is still easy, so I guess you need to play better.
