Noob here looking understand class matchups so I can make better rotations. I play condi mesmer, power war, and power engi. What are they good against? bad against?
I wanted to learn DH since I can never beat it but it seems really squishy and i dont get how it explodes everything. whats defensive and offensive rotations for it?
I agree. I really enjoyed this seasons changes (2 player max, reward separation). I was and am in the same boat (low gold, but haven’t really put the time in to improve much). This is the first season where I feel like there’s at least some incentive to keep climbing, i.e. at least I get something for the time I put in. Also the first time where I realized just how bad I am, looking at matches in terms of what I did wrong and not what the team did wrong.

Is there a setting for ‘when i hit a target, lock onto them’. The setting for ‘promote targets when you hit them’ isn’t doing this. Is the only way to acquire a target by pressing T, getting closest target, or clicking them?
Silver 1 pleb here. I know you mentioned making the question very specific in terms of class vs class but I feel like I’m not even remotely there yet. More constructive feedback for me would be more like a ‘homework assignment’ fundamentals since my mechanics and minimap monitoring are, as I’m slowly realizing, complete garbage.
Pretend I bought the game Yesterday (after some matches it feels that way), what are the top 3 things I should work on as someone who has limited time? 1v1? video recording and review? Is it constructive to see every loss as your own fault? What are the best 3 classes to learn ( strong presence in every meta, 1 dps, 1 condi, 1 ultility/support).
I just logged in and noticed that I no longer have 150 AR. I guess there was some update since fractals have changed as well. How do i trade in my old blue +7 simple infusions for regular agony infusions?
Always wanted a dagger mes for dps but started thinking about hammer and making a “Jester” spec off that (think Harlequin from Batman). I was thinking it could be cc centric but we have a good amount of cc already. I think its a good theme just don’t know what to make the general mechanics…that we dont have already. Maybe introduce a boon (as if we need more at this point, i know i know)that increases condi duration? You could get it if you score an interrupt or a dodge?
I was thinking about certain skin ideas for glider and weapons yesterday and they all had that ‘land of make believe’ theme to them.
Glider Skin: no glider skin, literally fly around with you hands at your side. Be good for a peter pan cosplay or just flying around in your underwear. One time I actually had the glider skin glitch out and not show up when i jumped off a cliff and activated it. It was great. You could also have one where you stick your hands out to the sides like your an airplane and make and engine noise with your mouth.
Pistols: just make a pretend gun with your hand. Be nice on a p/p thief making ‘pew pew’ noises with your mouth
Axe: again, just make an axe with you hand, like a judo chop sort of thing.
Air guitar: add a an instrument in the gem shop that just you doing the motions with air guitar. (btw I’m surprise you haven’t added guitar bass drums to the gem shop, you could have cover bands forming around Tyria playing festivals for tip money and such)

I recently decided to pick up a new class for both pve and pvp, coming from mesmer. I was debating between engi and thief and settled on thief since I really like mobility and high risk/reward. I tried thief out last night for some pvp action, and I find it super fun, however I die every fight. I don’t like staff as I find it incredibly one dimensional and it’s a total yawn fest. I prefer d/p since it seems more blinky and versatile. I tried going to your guys’ ‘guide to guides’ pinned topic but found it lacking and quite out of date, I don’t even think the daredevil trait line is mentioned anywhere. Can someone point me to youtubers or at least give a general breakdown of the right side of the skill bar like the dont-leave-home-without-it utilities/heal/elite? …. or a link to your non-staff build of choice? …or should I have gone with engi?
My portal seems to only work half the time. I’ll put one at close and mid and I can’t use it. I asked the team in game about it and they mentioned something about ping or lag can cause this.
Leveling masteries is extremely slow so I decided to go the route of experience boost stacking. The gem store experience boost seems to work on event xp bonuses and harvesting, etc. as intended. However, it seems xp from kills stacking is SUPER buggy. Sometimes I get full expected xp from kills, other times only 50% bonus. Sometimes I don’t get any experience at all from kills (even when soloing monsters).
Anyone else seeing this? Is there some situational thing going on where it’s intended that I don’t get any xp from kills sometimes, 50% sometimes and full other times? (all three situations happen when all xp sources are active)
Would it be a good idea or game breaking if ascended items could be equipped from anywhere, similar to pvp equipment? I really dig that it’s account bound but its still a pain to unequip, drop in bank, pick up in bank, re-equip every time I change characters or for anyone who’s an altoholic.
I don’t seem to get daily rewards for complete each Fractal tier (1-9, 10-19, 20-29, etc.). did something change? is there only 1 chest/day for completing any full fractal and thats it. the wiki says i should get one for every tier. i don’t like it when my informed expectations are denied.
