Review of staff weaver in wvw.

Generally speaking, the skills are really nice on the staff. The utility skills are even better. The elite is wonderful. But the staff spec is ultimately unplayable.

Survivability – The problem here is that weaver makes fire 4 and earth 3 useless as they are behind a 3 second attunement cool down. What is the point of an evade skill or reflect if they take 3s to cast.

Utility – the staff utility skills are mostly in slots 4 and 5. This is what makes staff useful in wvw. Static, frozen, line, big water… All skills that need instant casts otherwise you miss the window of opportunity. Again, stuck behind a 3 second attunement cool down.

Suggested solution – swap earth 3 with earth 5. Then more fundamentally, attunement swapping should give you skills 4 and 5 first rather than 1 to 3. This might not work on the other ele weapon sets but it would certainly work on staff.

- specialisation quests, or at least lore regarding specialisations.
- I want new specialisations more like reaper and dragonhunter and less like tempest and chronomancer. I.e. one that takes something away from the base class so it is not a strict upgrade. For example, rather than give eles new weapons, I want the elite spec to replace an entire attunement with a new one.
- given that the last expansion introduced a lot of new things and the next one will be building off this, I think it is realistic to expect more maps than 4 (8 to 12 would be good) and a longer story. I liked the size and difficulty of the hot maps, so this is a good base to start from. Just ignore dragons stand. I don’t like the map. It’s basically a giant pug dungeon and has no place in the open world.
- I want the marketing for the expac to tell me how much content will be added via the living world.
- I want optional solo bosses as part of the story. Nothing you need to do, but something that allows us to have hard fights without people crying to nerf the story. The queens gauntlet had some of the best fights this game has produced and I want more of those. I also like the idea of optional side quests as a platform for expanding the lore/story.
- a long open beta test for the new wvw map. Wvw is community driven and a restricted beta can never highlight the issues with the maps (as we should now all understand)
- more skins and masteries for wvw. Perhaps even reward tracks.
- more armour skins in general. What would be good is a new set of white, blue and green armour as random drops, on top of the rare and exo armours gotten via vendors and achievements.

That is basically it. Hot was good, but just too small.

Aerial “enemies”. When I say this, I don’t mean aerial combat. I mean a reason to use the existing gliding mechanics. So to use verdant brink as an example,

Day time – flock of birds. When you encounter these you are kicked out of your glider and it is locked for a few seconds. To escape, you need to outrun them for a bit using lean techniques.
Night time – swarm of bats. Same as above, but you can’t outrun them. You need to stealth past them.

I feel it is heavily class dependent. I breezed through the story as a full zerk (exotic only) reaper with only half the traits unlocked. I suspect I would have significantly more trouble with a glass mesmer. Maybe op should try one of the pve faceroll classes (necro, warrior, guard, herald)? I suspect the experience will be much different.

why does everyone always forego the point of a post just to argue a small factor that doesn’t change the overall relevance?
you own HoT and have specializations you have advantage over not owning HoT and the rush to push out HoT might have overlooked how grouping buffs worked in larger comps. Does anyone disagree with that?

In terms of your argument? Not really since the likelihood of a guild group all entirely lacking HoT is low.

Buffs in general probably do need reworked quite a bit as it has lead to a lot of builds that are about as annoying to fight as the old celele was with considerably less effort involved.

No, I’m saying certain builds individual self boon application is too much, how boons are shared currently is fine.

Imo both are not quite right for wvw atm.

It is not unusual to see guild groups of 20-25 with all boons inc 1min of resistance and quickness (in t1 Europe at least). This requires boon sharing to work, not just self application.

In a wvw context it is totally broken. You can’t do anything when you face this other than do the same junk or everyone runs necro. I have no clue why resistance is even a boon tbh.

Maybe having a hardcap on “combat” boons like protection, resistance, quickness and retaliation would help, I don’t know… But what I do know is the current state is farcical.

I would love to see a poison spewing short bow.

For the legend it would obviously have to be Zhaitan… Is the elder dragon not the ultimate condi legend? Could even take a leaf out of the necro book and add some summoned minions as the utility skills.

I agree. These are not achievements in any sense of the word.

Clearly what has happened here is that no work was done at all on this by the devs (i will say managment decision because I don’t believe the devs would want to neglect a core part of their game) And then at the last minute someone rush jobbed this in.

I liked the achievements in season 2. Should have copy pasted those in instead. I was happy, the pve,ers could go to eotm and be happy, everything was fab.

There used to be a ranger spirit that prevented rezzing in gw1. That should come back in trap form. Maybe one that prevents both hard and soft rezzing so it is rally or nothing (say 8000 range and 15min duration).

I feel this would solve a few problems wvw has and would make it easier for a small skilled group to take out a badly organised blob.

Hi,
Does anyone know why the same dye on different armours do not match? I am trying to match the grenth hood to the TA armour with celestial dye but the armour looks much more vibrant than the hood. Is there another dye I can use for better results?

Just had this problem while fighting Grenth and I have had this problem in wvw before (last week). All skills except shouts just randomly stopped working. I can still dodge and get hit, but can’t attack. Changing weapons doesn’t help.

Do invisible bags stop things from going to your bank? Even if they do, my proposal is only applicable to minipets, not crafting material, which would remain the same as always and still give the bag some use.

Minipets are not crafting material, so I don’t understand why they behave in the same way when you are managing your inventory. It is like your armour being automatically sent to the bank… it makes no sense.

I also approve of the idea to give minipets a “weapon slot” that takes it out of your inventory and prevents it from being auto-banked. It achieves the same goal.

You should be able to toggle a “do not bank” option. Clicking the cog in the items menu and sending everything to the bank is now a reflex action, but one that screws me over every time I have a minipet out – it goes with all your crafting material to the bank…

This is an ft build I am trying out for group fights in wvw:

Full soldier is almost a must. Any other build and you can kite to stay alive, but the ft kind of forces you into melee range. Rifle gives you some range and control, but eventually you have to get close.

The runes of the fighter are there partly because I am cheap and partly because is synergises with medkit quite well. Slick shoes is amazing in pug heavy fights because no one takes stability and there doesn’t seem to be a cap on how many people you can hit with it. The stun break is also nice.

Rocket boots is for mobility and those “oh crap” situations where you find yourself in the middle of an enemy zerg and need to run. I find that this is slightly inferior to elixer s, especially if you have formula 409 traited. On top of that, the toolbelt skill is rubbish for this build considering that ft1 works best if you are not targeting anything (and i find targeting an enemy to targeting nothing a very difficult thing to do on the fly) but the cooldown is just short enough to sell it for me.

The build seems to work best in small and mid-sized groups (10-20 people). Anything larger and you pretty much have to use nades. Anything smaller and conditions seems to get the better of me.

Hello, I was going to make a new post but this is exactly the error I want to report. I am on SFR and GW2 crashes out every time I try to go to WVW. Sometimes within seconds, other times after a minute or two.

I have compiled this list of suggestions that I hope someone will look at.

1. I have an engineer with two pistols. However, when I shoot my left arm hangs limp. Any chance we could have a tiny bit of animation to make that arm do something? Maybe alternate shots on skills 1 and 2?

2. The new flower back item is very cool (is there a yellow dye that matches it?). However, when I equip a kit, it superimposes itself onto the backpack. No one likes clipping, please fix it.

3. I know a lot of work has been put into the rifle turret to make it more viable, but for psychological impact any chance you could cut the damage of the thing by 10 and then make it fire 10 times faster? The rapid fire effect would also mean that it actually does something in the two seconds between deployment and implosion. Also there should be a rifle turret trait that gives the thing some major perma retaliation (I am thinking for use in wvw)….

4. I think someone already mentioned this before (and so it may have been fixed since last I played ranger), but naming ranger pets is a shambles. One minute you have a lynx called bagpuss, then it decides that it is actually called Juvenile Lynx and then all of a sudden your devourer is called bagpuss… weird.

4. In Timberlane falls there is a dynamic event where you help Jonga collect “meek” ettins. To be honest, I think Jonga is a kitten. Can we get an option to beat the crap out of the little furball until it stops experimenting on innocent animals?

5. Are we expecting new legendary weapons? If so can I suggest the “Dessert Eagle”? It’s like a desert eagle but shoots cake.

6. Can you make it so the shatterer and tequila both are able to turn 360? Everyone standing to one side in a blob is a bit crap.

7. Mystic forge ascended rings.

8. I recall something about a home instance in this game? Needless to say its rubbish and should be scrapped. Instead, can we have guild halls again?

I think this is everything. If I think of more suggestions I will just amend this post.

Melandru is great…. should make it hit harder though.

I think Grenth would be better if the room was bigger. The floor space makes not dodge rolling yourself into another aoe a bit tricky.
