I have decided Mordremoth can have whatever it is he is after. I simply cannot stand the story fight. Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
long.
“…protect yourselves or take to the air”….if only you could take to the air. I have seen people do it on YouTube. Don’t work for me.
Retry….FROM THE BEGINNING.

Gratz evil dragon.
Fallen Masks epitomizes the frustration of putting things behind mini games. There is not enough time to locate, jump, etc. and get anywhere near silver. This mini is horrible, period.
I have given up on the reapers great sword and the revenants shield because they require mini games that just are just awful.
Hmm, thread kinda took off.
I should clarify: I am not in favor of eliminating jumping puzzles. I am asking that they stop making EVERYTHING THAT IS NEW have a jumping puzzle feel to it. What makes it so frustrating is that a majority of the precision-pixilation path you must follow is laden with jumps that are at the outer limits of the jump animation. Then add all the not easily seen (if possible to see) pixels in the path that are designed specifically to knock you off the path, knock you down the z-axis. Finally, add that failure can leave you among a group of super frogs and, well, wp.
All that if fine for a jumping puzzle for people who want to do jumping puzzles. But when the open content becomes so saturated with the mechanic it just becomes completely annoying, not fun. Annoying leads to apathy, which leads to…
HoT requires everyone to become a master space bar pixel achiever if your interest is to achieve any of the new achievement content. . You have no choice. Well there is a choice: avoid the content. However, if you are avoiding more content than you are enjoying, well, …
Imagine finding your new favorite cake. Eating some cake is very satisfying. Eating all the cakes in the store leads to misery. Anet filled the entire mall with jumping cakes.
I have enjoyed GW2 since launch and I want to spend time each evening doing a little something in GW2. I was ok avoiding things in the original game. But as it stands right now, I am finding a whole lot of HoT that is not possible. Even simple exploration is off limits due to maps saturated with super mobs. LFG is not finding the people. I cannot stress how much of my time is sitting idle watching maps and working chat channels just to do basic game content.
There is something that just does not feel right in the new mob versus mob PVE universe.
Seriously, why does almost everything in this game require an element of Donkey Kong? You cant get anywhere without having to endure precision pixilation jumps and very specific walking paths or START OVER. Add in the overly exaggerated extreme z-axis in HoT and you have successfully created the most frustrating gaming experience, ever.
Encounter a single stall due to lag; fail; fall; start over.
Encounter obstacles to your path, often not seen and created specifically to knock you off course,; fail; start over.
Wings automatically deploy on a long jump; glide away, fail, start over.
There is no way to recover, ESPECIALLY NOW THAT EVERYTHING COMES WITH A TIMER.
I already gave up on legendries due to never seeing a precursor. I have given up on crafting now that it is simply the most ridiculous, tedious version of crafting every imagined. Now I have to give up on the new ascended weapons (Dark Harvest) due to required jumping insanity as part of the quest series.
My thumbs curse the whole idea. Seriously, they are starting to really hurt.
Engi.
Unkillable tank mode that does superior DPS at the same time. There is no downside to being an engi.
There are no weaknesses. You can watch warriors heal through all the damage you toss at them and then be amazed as they hit you for 13k in a single hit. They can dive into battle, run out of battle, control every fight at their keyboard.
Thief stealth used to be my main problem with the game. That fell to second. There have been too many battles in WvW that have been tons of warriors, hammering through zergs, basically eating all for lunch. The warrior class in total as I have watched it the past 2 months pretty much has me looking for the next game to play.
I think the rewards in WvW are backwards. Rewards should be diminished or removed for teams that take objectives. Rewards should be maximized for teams that hold objectives. The motivation to take an objective remains since you cannot get points for objectives until you first get them. Anet does this on the 15 minute timer for the servers. They should be doing the same for players.
In this way, 100 person blobs get little by storming maps in a circles. They have to now start leaving people to defend and earn points.
Just think of the mechanics of the board game RISK.
There is no such thing as too tough to kill for a thief. They all get to enjoy combat where their opponent is at 50% or less health before the opponent gets to click. I enjoyed my thief. Several ranks in WvW. Frankly, it was boring because it was stupidly OP. It became as challenging as picking off rabbits.
As for fight near mobs, no, never. Thieves are always blinking in and out. Critters in the area, if they even had aggro, will now aggro you as you try and AoE hit the invis thief. Now the thief enjoys having npcs join in to help kill the target.
Toughness in this game is a huge red herring stat. I now have seven level 80’s. I have tried all 7 as “bunker”. Except for the d/d ele, they all fail. [D/D ele had to have been designed for blind players. They don’t have to target anyone, just bounce around like a pinball and let the automatic benefits of attunement swapping do all the work. Another bonehead class creation by Anet.] This game is totally, 100%, offense oriented on power/crit/critdmg. Offense gets all the points. Defending is universally unrewarding. There exist no defensive builds than can win against the pressure of full output of max offensive damage.
Anet has zero idea on how to create viable class variety. Every single class gets pigeon-holed into “A” spec. WvW commanders and guild leaders all require warriors all have to hammer, sword/horn. Boring. Guardians have to have shouts and have one weapon be staff for skill 5. For roaming they are all GS/hammer. [GS btw is the most effective weapon of every class that has it available. This weapon in universally too good.] Stability is required for all of WvW and now 90% of pve via living world content. Ele’s need to be staff. Mesmers have to have a focus for pulling off walls and siege. Etc. So many weapon, trait, and armor combinations are just junk in WvW.
Out of frustration I have chosen a different path to survive thieves and d/d eles. Search for another game that successfully eliminates the min/max paradigm that creates a best-only build.
No.
The game serves merely as a time occupier for me now.
It lacks any sense of balance. D/d ele, mesmers, and thieves simply ruin the pvp.
The WvW encounters are just utterly dumb. To be upper tier means you know how to crunch up into a ball of toons and abuse game mechanics as much as possible through button mashing. Did they really have the sentinels from “The Matrix” in mind when they designed WvW? There is zero strategy required.
If they ask for a fee, I am gone. Although in full disclosure, I am very close to gone already. So my opinion should be considered in such light.
It’s 1 am CST.
For the last few hours, CD has attacked nothing but red locations. As of my logging out of the game for the night red has been wiped from EB; no longer exists in CDBL; has a couple of locations in IJBL where no blue activity exists; and CD is attempting to wipe FA from FABL. FA has gone from about 230 points down to 105 in less than 2 hours, while IoJ went from about 210 to now 235.
It is not a skill thing. The tactics are not really different for anyone. It comes down to amassing supply and then unloading that supply as fast as possible to take objectives. 50 people do that far more effectively than 10. Can’t blame CD tonight for the fact there are so few people to contest them. It just is what it is.
Buffs to karma and experience don’t mean jack if you are unable to accomplish tasks that reward both. The outnumbered buff in this game has to the the dumbest buff in the history of PvP.
The real problem is the scoring system. The scoring system does not adjust for players within the worlds. Quite honestly, Anet should not go with naked totals but should adjust the scores by dividing each scoring period by the number of people that the world used to amass that score in the period it is achieved. In this way skill, not substantially superior zerg numbers, has a role in points.
CD running at 350 points a tick? If they enjoyed 100 people in that scoring period then their scoring rate would be 350/100 = 3.5 points. IoJ running at 200 points a tick? If they had only 50 people maintaining that 200 then they would score 200/50 = 4 points. IoJ would score more because they are achieving more with fewer people.
Just a thought. But unless something is changed, world transfers will continue to exacerbate population imbalance problems.
It is not an 11pm problem. GoM is a WvW ghost town most of the hours of the day. Even if 5 people muster, there are enemy platoons camping every entry point, with siege weapons, hoping someone comes out.
If you like playing WvW where the “endless battle” Arenanet is selling is over within 24 hours of reset; where you have no resources and no cover; and like the challenge of trying to take fortified positions while being vastly outnumbered; then yes, come to GoM.
You can get in any time you want. The problem right now is there is nothing you can do with the time you get when you enter
Tarnished Coast does not seem bored right now. They own the entire map; they have siege weapons and 20+ peeps that we could see waiting for anyone to leave the keep; and all 20+ of them will pounce on anyone that dares come out. It was fun watching a single ranger pass through our gate at Godsword only to see a sea of red try and engage him.
Thank goodness we had the +33% exp, karma, and magic find for being completely outnumbered. It really leveled the playing field for those of us pinned inside the walls that could not leave.
TC doesn’t realize their mission to overwhelm has not only stopped WvW for this week, but has caused at least Gates of Madness, and perhaps Sea of Sorrows, to have its population abandon ship, leaving you, and everyone else, with no WvW in the future from these servers.
Way to abuse TC, way to abuse it.
Fun is not really there unless you are part of that overwhelming ARMY that completely takes over the map. Each week I check into WvW and each week there is one server that overwhelms the entire map within 24 hours. WvW is a waste of time for anyone not in the ARMY. There is no joy, just endless grief.
Buff for low population = garbage. What value is it to have a +exp buff, etc., if all that happens is you are ganked by raiding parties that are roaming every corner of the map, looking to complete the same points of interest, etc.?
Why would anyone bother to attempt to take even a resource location if an entire army is waiting to see the crossed swords show up on a map to swarm it?
I am sorry but Guild Wars 2 WvW is perhaps worse than Aion with regards to massive PvP environments. And Aion was horrible in how it was designed to create geometrically progressive inequality of factions simply because one population was higher than the other. There are no equalizers for ARMIES stampeding small populations.
I don’t have a solution. I wish I did. It seems to be a truth for every game that offers massive pvp: there is always one faction/server that become the locusts. They insatiably consume everything, until everyone who could compete against them quits due the the futility of it. The locusts become hungry, get bored, and then lament that nobody wants to play with them anymore. Duh?
Somehow Arenanet, you have to make it worthwhile for small groups, even individuals, to try and do something in WvW when it is facing those hungry locusts that have consumed everything. There is already a ton of apathy for WvW and its only been a month.
Here is to hoping…
