But at least those are optional. Now I cant see the game’s story anymore because I suck at something that should be an optional challenge for the people who have the reflexes of a fly.
I’ll just go on pretending living story updates dont exist, like in the past.

yeah but its not about being strong or weak for the challenges. its just that the challenges are downright annoying. have you been to the dungeon where that Rhendak kitten is? its a kitten to get to.
not to mention you’re basically not allowed to experiment with different builds anymore.
This is anet saying, “level our way, or quit”.
Like most people, I despise what you did with the new trait unlocking system. I think its one of the stupidest things I’ve seen in mmos, and I’ve been around for a while.
Anyway, after trying to level my new warrior, I decided to quit trait hunting, and playing the warrior aswell because of it, when I moved on to the 4th trait on the power tree, which would have me “Defeat Rhendak the Crazed” to get a blue trait. Great.
What I suggest is for you, Anet, to have more than one way to get each trait. Instead of making me go to a kittened puzzle dungeon that requires a group to complete, or uncontest a temple, which requires a group to complete and the temple itself to be contested, and so on, why not, on top of that requirement, have other, optional ones?
You can either defeat Rhendak, get a crafting profession to 150, get 10 wvw ranks, or kill 50 people in spvp, or something along those lines. Dont just make me do some arbitrary and inconvenient task or pay some super inflated coin+skill point cost for it.
Give me options on how I unlock these godkitten things. Or was that whole thing about letting players play the way they want basically bullkitten?
We will see.
Anyway, my 2c on what could be done to at least prevent this whole wreck from crashing into a mountain.
I just gave it one good try on my new warrior, managed to unlock the 1st 3 traits in the power tree (yes I did the obsidian jumping puzzle for a kittenty blue trait). But then, when I read what the next trait on the list required me to do, I just gave up. Defeat Rhendak the Crazed. Defeat Rhendak the Crazed? Are you kittening serious? Go through one of the most stupid and convoluted “dungeon puzzles” (that requires a group to complete btw) to unlock a kittening blue trait?
What. The. kitten.
No one at anet plays this game. No one. I refuse to believe anyone in this kittening company plays the game they are peddling. They are all too busy designing gemstore outfits to give a kitten anymore.
Well, no more alts for me. I had 7 out of 8 classes already created, and wanted to level my warrior, but it was made after the 15th, and after reading the arbitrary crap I would have to go through to unlock the traits, screw it.

whats really amazing is that anet has the kittening balls to say in the patch notes that they want to encourage people to experiment with builds while leveling. Does anyone at anet even play this game anymore?
That makes me a little sick tbh. I mean, you already have to level almost half way to max before you can even assign traits, and now even more barriers, even more gold sinks?

A friend of mine recently came back to the game, and we made two new characters. The issue here is that my warrior has all the normal traits (I-XII) perfectly unlocked and available for use as I level up, but my friend’s necromancer has them all locked, not just the extra 13th one.
After he told me the things he needs to do to unlock them, I simply told him I would give him the money necessary to buy them from the trainer, but this is driving me up the walls. Why are his traits locked, when none of my characters, one of which is as new as his, always had them unlocked?

I’m very disappointed with the lack of permanent content. The problem for me with the Living Story (LS) is that, every time it pops up, instead of being excited about new content, I just feel pressured into doing it right now because I know its going to get deleted shortly. So I end up not even bothering logging in the game for the duration of the event. I like to consume content on my own schedule, not the developer’s.
At this point, I would gladly pay 20€ for one expansion every year, like we did with Guild Wars, if that meant more actual content.
And shame on the guy that counted hair styles and UI fixes as content. Pathetic.
