Pretty sure it’s based on race alone. I have worn the same exact set that I crafted for my buddy and we not only looked completely different, but had different dye options.
Also: Asura male and female armor is the same model
Thank you for your input! I think I’m going to go engineer. I had a 29 engineer that I retooled from Norn to Asura anyway, ill just keep leveling that up as I am having fun with that class as well.
I’ve taken place in two dragon events and gotten gold each time, whiis good for some random greens and maybe a yellow so far. but no T6 ingredients which is really what I’m after. Did you roll? If so, what did you make?
So, after reading all these posts claiming that Mesmer aren’t efficient at tagging end game DE mobs, and then getting there thinking that I didn’t need to do that in order to progress (I was wrong, I need tier 6 crafting mats) I have decided that since I love my mesmer to death perhaps I should just roll an alt! This is actually the first game where I played a class that I loved so much I didn’t roll an alt to play along side it right away.
I am OK with mesmer not being the A1 farmer that other classes are, but my question to you guys that also love mesmer. What other class should I roll next? I’m kind of stuck between necro and engi I tried Guardian as well but they seemed too easy to me.
Reading this post has made my head hurt. It seems like there is way more than an on topic argument. Members do have good AoE in a solo vs 4 or 5 or even higher in some cases battle, Personally I have taken 7 mobs solo easily if left to my own devices with enough room. I enjoy that aspect of the mesmer very much.
However, there is a HUGE difference between being given time to set up and kill a bunch of mobs (which appear to have a severely different loot table) and trying to do enough damage in under a second to a group of mobs to get loot. In either case what we are talking about is max level play, melanin people are less spread out because progression is not an option anymore.
As an example, I recently hit 80 on my mesmer, my only max level character. I worked my way into Orr doing my story quest and have had a blast the whole way. I had been reading these posts and did not think it would be a problem for me to tag, as it had not been a problem up to this point. Then I got to my first zerged DE (Isle Of Janthir) and it was just under 10 minutes long with several waves of Risen. In those 10 minutes I got loot rights on about 5 mobs out of what seemed like 100s. Most of the loot I got was veterans. Meanwhile there was a pile of players standing there swinging away at nothing in a pile… but sure enough mobs would insta-die when they got to that pile, and they were invulnerable before that point. I tried Berserker to no avail mobs were dead before he could spin to win, tried shatter with mirror images, mind stack had too long of a cooldown and seemingly the mobs would die before clones got to them to shatter, and blurred frenzy might have worked for a couple of the mobs if you could time it exactly right, but its not spammable so you would hit the first few mobs but the duration limits the number.
Basically I think supper type spells, which IMO is what mesmer bring to the table in a group setting, are underrated and you get no credit for doing it. I lover the idea of boons causing loot to be gotten. The only problem I could see with it is that maybe Guardians could tag mobs this way with nothing but f1 – f3 buttons. But then again from what I see they only need 1 button as it is now. Or perhaps change the loot table on regular wandering mobs to be slightly more in sync with DE mobs if they’re not already.
Posting from my phone is a bad idea with autocorrect lol Beresford is berserker
I have used a GS sw/p build and staff sw/p build for most of my mesmer life with a condition/shatter build and there are 2 ways I initiate//end a fight.
GS :
1) Duelist
2) Stealth Decoy
3) Illusion leap while running at them and making sure you are in range
4) Illusion leap again to lock them in place
5) cry of frustration at the same time (duelist should have blown its wad by now)
6) switch to staff and hit 5
7) hit mirror images
8) hit 2 for the free chaos armor
9) mind stack switch back to sw/p and finish them off
or
start with sw/p
1) Duelist
2) immediately switch to GS
3) feedback and Beresford at the same time for confusion stacks
4) Throw the GS through bubble creating your third clone and causing more confusion
5) switch back while running toward enemy cry of frustration for more confusion
6) blurred frenzy so they take massive damage from confusion but do no damage to you
some of those fights don’t make it through a of the steps even at level 80
I guess the only thing I would worry about is missing the stories from the other races
Except my Squeak Mesmer, and retooling them to all be squeak?? I love the race and the sense of humor in the storyline I’ve done so far
Well you got a couple things completely wrong, other than your I’m so good at this why aren’t you, attitude. What level are you? What kind of gear do you have? Most of what I USED to read was complaints of tagging mobs at 80. DEs change a lot at level 80, and even at 60, which is where I’m at.
So aside from your patting yourself on the back, you haven’t really supplied any suggestions or even a real question due to lack of details. What people are saying when they compare to other classes is not that we can’t, its that we have to work much harder for the same result. Personally that’s what I love about the class but regardless I believe that is what your are misinterpreting as calling them underpowered.
Actually, a majority of posts lately have been minor tweaks and suggestions rather than complaints. In closing I would love th chance to add such an amazing mesmer to my friends list so I could pad your ego just a little more.
P.S. Your English is fine, I understand you better than half the people I run into.
Completely agree that they should switch the burn and blind, it even makes more sense! A mesmer disappears in a flash of fire and upon reappearing the dazzling lights/effects blind anyone in range. As for the phantoms torch provides I think it would be nice if it were and AoE fire from in melee range. Just like Prestige without the stealth and blind. It would be balanced due to the already short lived life most phantoms have, would allow us to tag easier in group events, and already be in range in a shatter build.
Just curious as to the point of this post. Don’t like it? Don’t play it. Personally I love my meaner and the less people playing it and figuring it out the better I look LOL. as to the post about members doing no damage compared to a warrior, I wonder what level you’re at? On my meaner I can cast chemist switch to greatsword cast server and hick my sword followed by a shatter and not much lives through that.
1) Burning, Poison, Bleeding, Confusion. Any damage over time ability really. I stack Condition damage on my Mesmer and will drop a combo field while my duelist is blasting away, giving me 2-3 stacks of confusion, then use the channeled ability from a sceptre to get 5 more stacks, then shatter the three copies I have out for another 3 stacks, mobs go down fast, and people go down just as fast.
2) When they are killed refers to any time they die other than being shattered. Meaning a mob can kill them, when they die after their target does, or when they are forcefully replaced because you already have three out.
3) I use this trait myself, I have seen fire, and confusion. Most of the time, though, it appears they apply vulnerability when they die.
It sounds like you play a lot like I do, I like to use the sceptre/pistol when I’m feeling lazy and just let it autofire into a group of mobs, as the clones get coppied and the first one dies it spreads the random condition to the other mobs, when that mob dies all 3 explode doing the same. It’s a lot of fun and adds a neat animation to the silly butterfly shatter effect they normally have
Well, personally I don’t see how people play with so much melee in mind. I have played SPvP up to rank 11 and WvWvW quite a bit, and even though I’m only level 30 I feel I have narrowed down my personal playstyle on the Mesmer. Something about the profession just speaks to me.
I use Sceptre/Pistol and a staff and stack condition damage/toughness
I have 10 in Chaos, and 10 in illusions. If you really want to be lazy you never even have to switch off your sceptre/pistol in PvE. Summon duelist, Summon a phantasm of your choice, then spam the first ability creating illusions so fast that they start exploding causing random effects in a group setting. If things get hairy, switching weapons is a must, for the stuns and the blink from the staff, along with chaos armor.
In WvWvW I keep the same weapons and switch out for as many AoE spells as I can, I have found that once I target someone they will usually go down quick with a full set of confusion on them. Usually ticking for 1k-3k every time they use an ability. The trick I use is sometimes switching the pistol for a sword so the phantasm is melee and when Confusion starts to go down you can shatter them for some more confusion, then confuse them some more. The hardest part was learning that casting on the move is THE key idea to a mesmer. None of this WoW mentality anymore where movement cancels abilities.
