I’m enjoying my Thief (currently at L45) but I’m finding the popular Dagger/pistol combo lacking a bit with pistol damage or perhaps I’m just playing it wrong.
What combos are people using for PvE, high DPS?

Then why are these guilds divided into server locations?

And why do guilds specify which server they are on so you can participate in WvW.
One even told me I had to be on the same server to interact with individual members otherwise I’d never see them while wandering around a location!

Guilds are no longer tied to servers. The only thing that is server-specific is WvW.

They are tied for WvW ;-)

Sort of. You can use a ‘Teleport to a Friend’ to get somewhere you’ve not been before. ……)

Thanks but that appears to be to a Party member in which case they would be in the same location.
I’m referring to jumping from one waypoint to another.
It looks like it isn’t possible.

Does GW2 have a feature like GW for ferrying players in a team from one location to another?
It was very helpful when you found an extremely hard area.

I may have to look into that. I’ve been playing every day for two months and have yet to see anyone looking for a group.
I guess I’ll have to give it a try. I’m used to LFG from a town in GW but not in the field in GW2. I’m not certain how hat works when there is no one around to respond.

If you don’t feel like playing with other people just solo stuff. Almost everything in this game is soloable if you put the effort into it.

For some players this may be the case.
For me it probably means spending real money to get the gear required. That’s not an option for me. I’ve spent close to $200 already. That’s more than any game is worth IMHO.

I know it’s an old thread but I’m a new GW2 player but a seasoned GW player and wanted to add my 2c considering the overwhelming opinion here is that Heroes/henchmen are something that is missing in GW2 and would be welcomed.

I’m very surprise and disappointed ArenaNet didn’t include Heroes or some facsimile.
I played GW every day for many years with more than 10,500 hours accumulated and still play occasionally today because I have Heroes.

From my observations GW2 is getting to the stage where many areas (particularly for low level new players such as myself) are empty.
Even when I play my boosted level 80 and try to kill a bounty NPC I fail every time and there is no one to help me. It’s extremely frustrating!

Yes, I could ask a guild member to help but they are busy doing high level stuff and to be frank I can’t put in the time required to arrange a team format.
I play an hour or two, take a break and come back later. It’s a feature of this type of game I like. Slow paced.

I’ve only been playing a couple of months but can see myself growing tired of dying all the time.

Perhaps an alternative could be to alter the reduction of level to something a little easier when playing without a team.

At least I have GW to fall back on. I can go into areas like Tombs and play with Heroes/henchies in hard mode and not die. Even if I do I can be resurrected and continue.

If you got this far, I’m sorry for the long post but I really want to stick with the game but it’s frustrating to say the least.

Oh so it was the content guide that was misdirecting you.

It also shouldn’t do that, but it does sometimes throw up weird advice. When it was first released it would tell level 10 people in Wayfarer Foothills to go to Frostgorge Sound, which is a level 80 area.

Yeah. Thanks to the advice I received here though I’ll know better than to take that advice without checking its’ levels first

Also you shouldn’t have been told to go into a level 30 map yet. The NPCs are supposed to have different dialogue to warn you away if you’re too low level. Can you tell me which city you were in and where you were sent so I can report it?

I was in Lion’s Arch. I just went back there and as soon as I step through the portal it says “New challenges await you in Gendarran Fields”.
I can now see (map and wiki) that this is a 25-35 area.
I was also told I could go to Lornar’s Pass (25-40). I actually got a Hero point in Durmand Priory and then quickly left

The World Map, or the Wiki, will show you which maps are appropriate for your level.

I’m level 16 and I’ve done my personal story but can’t continue it until I’m level 20.
While wandering around a city I’m told to continue my adventures in a certain area but when I go through the portal there are level 30 foe.
Naturally I die instantly so I have to find another area.
Rinse and repeat ……
Some areas are for level 2 or 3.
How can I find a suitable area for my level?

Your open invitations can be found on the front tab of the guild panel, on the left, under “Invitations.”

Yes, I read the exact same thing in the wiki ;-)
I don’t see “Invitations” anywhere and I’m not sure what “front tab” means but assume it is the one labelled “Account Guilds”.

If you continue to have difficulties, you can try a -repair of the client (instructions found via the ‘Support’ link above/below and ‘Search – Repair’). Failing that, you can contact the CS Team via the same ‘Support’ link and ‘Submit a Ticket’ for assistance.

I want to explore 100% of all the areas and do all the hearts.
If I’m L80 and go back to low level areas will I have all my L80 skills?

New to the game and wondered what happens to your personal story progress and exploring in general if you use your Level-80 Boost permanently?
Am I free to go back to where I was before the boost and continue?
I realise my level will be reduced in some areas but that’s fine.
