Yes pretty much untill they do some major overhaul to the code some more as GW2 is heavily modified GW1 code.
having read what the dev said I have to question how up to date he is on the DX12 what all it offers in performance and tweaks under the hood etc? Since allot of data says DX12 offers allot in performance etc.
hopoefully they will convert. its really frusturating have to play at low settings and suffer. or playing at high and still suffer lol
In the meantime, here’s a post on reddit worth reading.

good post..

If you talk about “graphic lag” aka low FPS rates .. no .. server wouldn’t change
anything since that is a client related problem. What would help is either better hardware on your side, lower graphical options
on your side, or more option to disable certain kind of effect in the client.Server side problems are more that even with a good ping and no packet loss
you press a key, and wait some seconds until finally something happens. Also a lot of things that the players wanted are directly related to these things.
For example in the beginning we had “culling” that automatically reduced the
numbers of stuff that was rendered in big fights, however people complained
until it was removed. Also the main reason for the old condition cap was to avoid that the calculations
that are needed may cause server sided lag.
as far as hardware goes…
i7 5820k
evga 980 ti SC
16gb ddr4
just like u said having high in game options causes low FPS .
perhaps if we raised more money for Anet they could fix that? just talking here..
Hey A-NET and GW2 Community,
I have a question / potential suggestion.
After trouble shooting with you guys for the past couple weeks behind my lag and low FPS with a overly qualified rig for GW2. I thought of something.
A large part of the FPS drops and “Lag” that occurs in World Bosses and WvW come from so many people being in 1 place at the same time, and the “Chaos”
Would bettering you’re servers fix this solution? And perhaps giving players the option of paying a subscription fee to get some “benefits” or something that wont make the game a pay 2 win type, but just some add ons for the paying player which can help fund the better servers?
I’ve noticed alot of MMO’s do this lately. They offer the option for a subscription fee to help support the game company and in turn get a few bonus add ons.
Kind of the same way you offer 3 versions of HoT For us to buy. ( i bought the 100$ version btw :P)
Personally a few dollars a month to me to have less lag and more fps in WvW zerg fights and world bosses would be worth it for me !
Looking forward to share opinions / thoughts
Regards,
Ross
bump.. help plz
Hello Gw2 Community.
So I’ve recently built a new Rig.
intel i7 5820k (6 core)
16gb ddr4
Nvidia GeForce 980ti
Windows 10 Professional
As you can see pretty over kill rig for a game like GW2. That’s why im so frustrated.
My issue is that whenever i put the game in Windowed Full Screen or even Windowed for that matter. It will randomly just start spiking and being laggy. I could be in a Raid with 100 people running at maybe 40-55 fps and then WITHOUT an FPS Drop the game will start running slow for a couple seconds or minutes ; then go back to normal.
I’ve been experimenting with this issue for a couple weeks now. I reinstalled the game , wiped all my drives and reformatted completely , even played around with the control panel settings for the GPU.
I’ve come to conclusion that this issue only occurs and happens when i’m in Windowed Full screen or Windowed mode. If i am in Full screen mode i wont get these spikes.
I have tried messing with v sync , frame limiters, the whole 9 yards. For some odd reason whenever i’m in windowed mode every so often the game will just feel like i’ve dropped to 15 fps for a few minutes then go back to normal.
This is really driving me crazy. If ANYONE out there can post a fix, or perhaps give me your 2 cents on possible solutions that would be greatly appreciated !
Thank You Everyone! Hope to see some quick responses!!!!

think i found a fix
http://www.wowhead.com/forums&topic=216907/guide-nvidia-gpu-low-fps-fix
Hey guys….
So i built a new PC a few weeks ago. And IMO its pretty overkill.
i7 5820k 6 core processor
nvidia gtx 980 ti
256 gb ssd
16 gigs of ddr4
This rig plays so many games on max settings at way over 100 fps.
For some reason on Guild Wars 2. Just sitting in LA i get maybe 40-50 FPS.
The second i turn the montior around u know by right clicking and start moving. ill jump down to 30.
I do have every setting maxed out. But from my experience even lowering it didnt make it much betteer….
seems whenever im around people the FPS drops crazy amounts.
The game is still playable dont get me wrong. but i expected more performance for the money i put into the build.
I tried uninstalling the game and reinstalling.. even tried reinstalling drivers etc.
Any tips you guys can provide would be greatly appreciated.
