Narrative Lessons From 15 Months of Scarlet

in Living World

Top three for me

1) Recognition of who the player character is. The commander of the Pact should be fairly well known at this point. I understand that Lion’s Arch affairs and Scarlet were not the Pact’s business, but I felt like the world saw me as some wandering lady who happened to be where the action was. After the events of the personal story, it would be nice to have some weight in the world.

2) One of the points in the original post was about henchmen and lieutenants, and I could not agree more. I think that there were some wonderful opportunities for characters leading the various Scarlet alliances, but we saw very little in that regard.

3) There were far too many mysteries that went unexplained for far too long. Keeping the major motivation for the villain a secret can work, but not for something that is delivered over 15 months. In addition, too many things are still unexplained even after the ending. For example, if the reason for the flame legion to follow Scarlet ever came up, it was not very evident in the game itself.

dungeon X "all stack"

Strange how no one’s mentioned how stacking is one of the few times where you’d be able to lay down combo fields that would actually benefit the whole party instead of everyone running around like headless chickens. If I’m running my guardian in a predominantly melee group, I get to dust off the hammer sitting in my inventory and put it to good use.

I agree with this, I find sharing boons and fields with team mates to be more enjoyable than the headless chicken approach.

Dungeon is way too hard.

I rather liked the dungeon. I beat it last night with a pick up group with only one wipe on the last boss (none of us had done it before either). Some fights gave us pause and made us change things up, but it was far from “way too hard”. A few discussions in chat were all we needed really.

LF Casual PVE Guild

in Looking for...

Hello,

My roommates and myself are looking for a casual guild that we can run dungeons with, mostly on the weekends and possibly a few nights during the week. Of the three of us, we all tend to have problems finding groups for anything but COF1, and we would like to find a group of players that we can enjoy the game with.

At level 80 I have a Mesmer and a Necromancer, and my roommates have a Theif and a Ranger. We are on Tarnished Coast, but if server doesn’t matter to you, it won’t matter to us.

Thanks for reading.
