Sometimes I’m able to connect with my toons, but it has now been about 12 hours since I’ve been able to play either my level 80 Mesmer, Warrior or my level 36 elementalist.
After a reboot the problem fixed itself (I did install some updates for the framework but that was all, no idea how that triggered the problems but its all been resolved after that).
Ok just logged into GW2 today (yesterday having no problems) and then I started moving in Queensdale and the screenshot below is what I see. Take note my FPS at this instance was about 35 (using a laptop) and has never had issues like this with GW2 before.
Can anyone offer any suggestions that may be causing this? If I’m in the wrong section I apologise.
Both elementalist and mesmer have their positives and negatives, and both take a bit more time to master than the guardian or warrior do, but are extremely worth it. Elementalists has the utility of a mix of classes thanks to their attunements, one minute they’re throwing out highly damaging fire attacks, the next they’re throwing out heaing fields and regen, mesmers have their clones and phantasms which has a variety of utility, they also have access to portal (a nice bonus out of combat) time warp which grants quickness speeding up attacks and other little nifty things.
In my personal opinion I prefer mesmers just for the sheer utility I find in them, but its because the playstyle of a mesmer fits what I enjoy doing. I can jump into melee with the sword, I can hit from a distance with a greatsword, staff gives me what I personally think is the best armor in the game. I can pull enemies and grant swiftness, I can reflect projectiles (the Karka knows this all too well). I can port people to safety and most importantly I can turn enemies into Moa!
Sadly my elementalist isn’t at level 80 yet to actually compare their gameplay at that point for PvE (she’s only a few days old) but I’m hoping to work on her very soon.
World: Ehmry Bay (US server)
Issues:
Party doesn’t update for some/all members (people have been added and the party menu shows empty slots, people have gone offline and show that they are still online, some people have been online and show as being offline in both party and in guild screens)
We have had issues with people showing on toons which are incorrect (an example was when I partied with Eerekai, he was showing on one of his characters by portrait, hovering over the portrait showed a different character and he was actually on a third).
I have noticed a full restart of the game does fix this, but this only works until another change happens and this can then cause the above issues to happen again. Both myself and Esca.7421 have noticed this happening on a regular occurrance.
EDIT: This has just happened again and I took a screenshot this time (trying to add Flytta to the party, message says she is in the party, and the interface says there is 3 spaces unfilled). The one visible member in the party is Vallii.

Looking for an uncontested Balthazar on a US server.
I would honestly be happy for a full story reset if a change race scroll was available, I have a human Mesmer that I really want to change, but as with the OP I don’t want to hve to redo all the work I had on her. Even if the scroll took note of where in the personal story you were and let you pick the choices after you did the change.
My top three?
1. Mursaat – Yes they were antagonists before, but so were the Charr. The in-game map shows the Isle of Janthir, which many assume to be the Mursaat stronghold, would it take much to program that into the game? The only issue with them being added is some kind of foreshadowing needs to be done considering the lore, but nothing said that can’t be done by such events that is being done for Flame & Frost. They are certainly one of the more mysterious races and something that I would like to see brought into the fray as a PC race. However there is the concern that we never really encountered more weapon-based Mursaat if I remember correctly. However if magic is being drained from the world, maybe some of them fall to the mundane weapon bearing classes like warrior or guardian. Needless to say if the Mursaat was released as a race then I would happily make a Mursaat Mesmer. Spectral Agony could even be their (heavily nerfed) Elite skill.
2. Tengu – I have fond memories of the Tengu from GW1. They held my attention for the longest time when I was playing through Factions. They also have a nice area marked out for them in game. Thet also naturally have a wide selection of professions which makes them pretty obvious to be added in at some point.
3. Largos – I’m a fan of these underwater butterfly people, not so much underwater combat, but I do think that it would be interesting to have them added as a playable race to the game. Mysterious natures gives us little to go on apart from the small snippits on information we have gathered.
Being totally honest, I found levelling my mesmer to be barely harder than my Warrior (though my mesmer is level 65 and my warrior is capped at level 80). My main weapons was Greatsword/Staff until very recently, where its now Greatsword/Sword|Sword though I do still have my staff and a focus handy too for the moments that I need to have access to their skills. Try mesmer, and from what I can tell, you will either love it or have a tepid sensation in your heart, but I don’t think you’ll hate it.
PvP wise I don’t know what they’re like as I’ve never really done PvP before, but in WvW they’re a lifesaver at times. Many a time I’ve seen people being tricked by the Mesmer clones and phantasms, every hit your clones take is one that you don’t have to.
