Sure things need more attention. LB, pets, spirits.. they all need some love on our part, and they will get it.

I hope you realize this was pretty much promised about 5 months ago without seeing big improvements patch after patch after patch.
So i can imagine people are very disappointed when they see no changes in the areas that need attention and only respond to the negative impact on changes that brings our class even further down.
If this update would have had fixes in the oh so needed areas (LB, pets, etc) you wouldn’t have seen soo many complaints about destroying a class.

I had high hopes for this patch… to be completely disappointed again.
Logged in (after a month of not playing).. went to wvw… and decided to just give up and simply uninstall GW2.
Maybe we get some fixes around christmas this year.. but even that i seriously doubt.

WvWvW Culling is ruining fights

At least with the old system you knew what to expect running into enemies and anticipate on it. With this new system there’s no way to predict when culling is happening.
It’s all nice from ANet to try and make it playable for minimum specs that 99% don’t even use anymore, but it’s at the cost of those 99% who own decent pc’s.
Last night for example… 3 servers with roughly 30-40 players in SM in the lords room.
The only way of telling which server was about to get it was the color of the ring.
The whole fight (about 20-30 mins) you saw groups appearing and disappearing.

At some point me and a friend chased 2 enemies.. and all of a sudden we were both downed. Then the rendering started to show 10-15 enemies on top of us.

This is getting ridiculous and brings more frustration then fun to the game.

how to kill stealth thiefs?

against 80% of the thiefs this works for me pretty well.
- Take initial backstab
- Lighning reflexes followed by Point blank shot (LB) (be fast)
- QZ, followed by Barrage and Rapid Fire (both within the QZ) + send in pet (i always have it on passive). If your first Rapid Fire arrow hits.. they usually already decided to go into stealth, but your arrows will keep tracking them.
- Switch to shortbow
- Concussion shot (tricky to time )
- finish with crossfire (if QZ off cooldown pop it again).

if needed i throw in a heal which gives me 5 sec protection with the Lyssa armor, so -33% dmg taken.
On top of that if you have the time.. you can always pop Rampage as one. 20 sec of stability and increased crit chance is very nice in such a fight.

oh.. and NEVER run away from a thief, cause that means certain death.

Longbow Viability Analysis

Most pets in pve are useless because of their unwanted agro. In pvp (WvWvW) the only ones i use are the ranged pets, simply because they tend to live just a little bit longer.

In WvWvW i always run full berserker build with longbow, axe/warhorn and around 20k hp. YES i’m very annoyed by the fact our dps is nowhere near on par with other classes. Even on my guardian in tanky build i dish out more dps then my ranger and am next to that hard to kill as well.

i’m simply amazed that a well build sniper warrior can deal 3-5 times the dmg we can and on top of that wears heavy armor. I think the hardest i’ve hit with a longbow is around 4,5k crit and get easily 3-4 shot by thiefs (wearing full exotic ofc).

In WvWvW i usually make sure i’m always in a group to provide damage support and slowing down the enemy with barrage, but when (descent) non-ranger classes find me somewhere alone i already know i’m pretty much done and can prepare myself for the armor fix costs.

I sure hope at some point rangers are actually going to be rangers… but slowly i’m loosing hope that we will see these changes anytime soon.

What i don’t get from a developers point of view is why it is sooo hard to get ranger dps (depending on build ofcourse) on par with other (dps build) classes.
Why can a thief backstab you for 6-7k while we don’t even have 1 single skill that can do damage like that. Aren’t things like that with different classes with equal builds easy to test ? Take a dps meter and check the average dps from different classes in lets say 1 hour and you know things are bad.
