- 1.27 vs 1.2 CPS
- 1.65 vs 1.64 CPS, but remember that thieves have more damage modifiers than we do.
What’s that? Gravedigger spam is 1 attack per 2 seconds, so shouldn’t it be 1.5 CPS?
Because GS has 10% more weapon damage than daggers.
Don’t underestimate that 0.11/0.06 aftercast reduction! The effect is huge. It’s comparable to the former thief 1h-sword aftercast.
Sorry to rain on your parade, but that aftercast reduction only amounts to around 6% more damage* on an attack that is replaced by Gravedigger spam below 50% where we supposedly do "OP" damage yet still outDPS’d by AFK thieves spamming nothing but dagger auto**.

Gotta give it to the necromancer community, we seem to never run out of people defending power necromancer’s continued mediocrity. This is why we can’t have nice things.
Every single skill on greatsword is AoE, just like staff. It is not supposed to compete with dagger, which was, until recently, a single target power weapon and is still very much so despite the added 1-target cleave. Dagger dps 1v1 has to be higher than greatsword or it would need a buff very badly.
Daredevil staff does more DPS than thief dagger while hitting more targets, but God forbid reaper GS auto does more DPS than necro dagger auto even tho the former is significantly harder to chain because of all the cast times and aftercasts. Got it.
Here’s my pipe dream:
1. Soul Eater: GS skill recharge 20% faster, casts 10% faster and siphons health on hit.
2. Swap Decimate Defenses with Reaper’s Onslaught.
3. ???
4. Power necro now closer to being viable in PvE.
And these too:
1. Gravedigger’s atrocious aftercast/second swing nuked from orbit.
2. Blighter’s Boon now works like a stacking regeneration for every boon you have.
3. A damage modifier on chilled foes slapped on the nigh useless Shivers of Dread.
4. Gravedigger’s atrocious aftercast/second swing nuked from orbit.
Just a few things off the top of my head. PvE PoV.
Greatsword
- GS1: Feels too slow. Can use a cast time reduction on the 3rd chain.
- GS2: Remove useless second cleave animation. Absolutely no reason to keep it.
- GS3: Can use a damage buff / cast time reduction.
- GS4: Make it pulse every second. 2s is just too long imo.
- GS5: Fails half the time. Maybe it’s time to turn it into an actual gap closer? Lupi’s “shadow walk” comes to mind.
Reaper’s Shroud
- RS1: Increase damage coefficients to 0.7/0.7/1.4 to bring it in line with GS auto.
- RS2: Turn this into an evade. Probably should’ve been an evade in the first place.
- RS3: Make it continue pulsing outside of shroud.
- RS4: Projectile destruction anyone?
- RS5: Increase damage coefficients to 2.0/3.0/4.0? to bring it in line with Gravedigger sub 50%.
Traits
- Chilling Nova: Reduce ICD to… 5s? Tone down the chill/damage if necessary.
- Shivers of Dread: Waste of a slot in PvE (only affects a grand total of 3 skills). Add a 7-10% damage modifier against chilled foes.
- Soul Eater: Needs an additional effect to bring it in line with other classes’ GS traits. Notice that this is the only GS trait with 2 effects instead of 3. Revert lifestealing change.

Lion’s Arch can burn in dhuumfire for all I care; that pathetic excuse of a city had it coming. Either way, I’ll be there when the offensive begins; those Mystic Forge “debris” won’t collect themselves now won’t they? The almost endless supply of free body parts is good too.
9 seconds, according to Reaper’s Touch CD.

I hope I’m not too late to the party.

i think people are blind as a bat the new armor is like ten time’s darker then how they originally looked and the glow pannle adds a kittening ugly red shade on the leaves in front and the torso. if she was gonna make this change just revert them all the way back not make them uglier and drag the nightmare armor down with it.
I remember last month you told us who were negatively affected by the patch to “bite the bullet”, “get to mixing and matching to find some things that can work” and that wanting to have them reverted was selfish.
What’s with the sudden change of heart?
Might want to take a look at this “trait” called Siphoned Power while you’re at it. At its current state, you can pretty much remove it from the game and no one will notice the difference.
Honestly Blaine, it’s hard to “keep our expectations about game development time reasonable” and not have this “victimized attitude that Anet has something against the Necromancer(s)” when this kitten (which in my experience has been fixed but somehow got rolled back during patch day) and spiteful talisman (do I need to say anything about this?) is still broken. Also, you have to be in denial to say that necromancers are not rare in this game.
I am almost positive that this has been fixed three days ago.
Edit: I stand corrected. I think they actually kittened it up again this patch, but w/e.
