This elite spec is borderline broken in pvp. And if it has high condi damage alongside decent barrier support in PvE, it will outdamage condi reaper, which was supposed to be eventually given a power focused role according to Anet. Bad player is bad.
Except, you know..ice spike being a blast finisher allows for you to blast even more in a water field to burst heal groups, which water is known for. Rather than whining, look at the advantage of having another blast right on the very attunement that has a water field. If you view water as support, why care about ice spike’s damage capacity?
What utility or goodies does a reaper offer the group in instanced encounters, especially raids? I understand condition damage is the focus, but what sets them apart if anything? Also, is using a viper setup viable in open world encounters? Thank you.
Is it essentially required that as a chronomancer, you tank? It sounds interesting to have to play both a support and tank tole, but I would feel as though i’m not optimal enough in my actions to tank properly. The whole “you suck at tanking” kind of language that deters people in other mmos from doing it, haha.
Looking to move into giving mesmer/chrono a go as it ems very unique. How easy is it to continuously apply alacrity and quickness? Will I feel a bit behind in comparison to classes like warrior, rev, or ele? I’ve played ranger, warrior, and ele and have yet to enter into the raid environment.
It seems as though the fire and air overloads are great for adding more AoE damage to a class that already has a good amount of it. Seriously, using lava font, meteor shower, glyph of storms, icebow 4, and both of these overloads means crazy AoE action in heart of thorns maps.
Given that I actually somewhat enjoy tempest, I must asks, is tempest a dps increase for PvE? Or is base ele the way to go?
I remember elementalists as being the primary providers of might and fury some time ago…now of course warriors and heralds give all the might/fury you could want. This elite spec falls short of many others when all is said and done. What can this class offer other than just damage? From the raid beta, we could see that mobile targets are not good for doing dps with this class. Time to reroll.
Yep, just dodge rather than take the hits. Its not as if this game expects for there to be a tank that just sits there or anything. Unless I am missing something, this offhand seems underwhelming.

So…envoy of exuberance. The effect is barely noticeable and seems to be a waste of energy. And crystal hibernation roots you whereas chronomancer’s block is mobile. You would think and elite weapon would be decent.
From what I have read over, it seems as though the sword auto attack is your primary focus when using Rev/Herald? Is there a need to use unrelenting assault in damage dealing? I quite like the attack and would hope I can do a bit more than just auto attack.
The chronomancer is overtuned. In pvp you will be obliterated from a mile away while not even being able to see your opponent; chronophantasma and alacrity just means that you will be spammed like no tommorow. And in Pve? The quickness and alacrity up time seems to make a chono mandatory in a group..whereas guardians get dragonhunter? That spec compared to chrono? lol. Enjoy virtually having no cooldown on skills while hiding in stealth.
