No. Anet don’t give people something they knew as a one time event. Everyone knew this would occur once and should have prepared as such.

If you cater to those who chose to do something else other than play the game, it’s a slap to the face of those who actually did give up something.

No, not everyone knew, and even if they did not everyone can be there 24 hours a day. i got home at 4pm Aus time only to find people with precursors that i don’s even get a chance at because the only chance i had ended in a crash.

I wonder if it’s actually possible for Anet to make a proper difference between

- characters who already did the event completely + reward
- characters who already did the event but got no reward
- characters who got disconnected w/o reward
- characters who just quit due to annoying lags w/o reward
- characters who didn’t attend to the event at all
- characters who were in the area, but didn’t participate

etc etc.

Just in case they can’t, what would be the most obvious solution? Do it like on Halloween, give the stuff out to everyone again. But then people will still be angry over other players who already got the initial reward and will get another one now.

Good point, it would be difficult. But there should be something better than just a ring and a bag.

Dear Anet, as you no doubt know there is allot of dissatisfaction with the lost shores event. Many are asking for compensation and many are asking to do the event again. Most are upset about not getting a chance to open the chest while other who did get the chance got very nice rewards.

A solution that can work is to give those that didn’t get a chance at getting a reward or even getting to the end of the event an account bound box that should have the same loot table as the chest. It’s an easier solution and everyone will get the chance they missed out on due to real life and crashes/DC’s. Address this situation, don’s leave us sitting here in the dark, start talking to your customers.

I’m not expecting they’ll do anything. To be honest — and some people might find this unreasonable of me — I really wouldn’t feel satisfied with any compensation short of letting me do the event again so that I can actually complete it and open the chest myself.

I feel the same way, What hurts the most is that we didnt even get the chance to open the chest. i would like to do the event again.

I know there are some that had legit issues with the server side connection, but those are few. Many of times though, the issue occurs with client side. This could be many reasons, though I left PC in the title.

1) Memory: Some people got a BSoD during this event, or any that includes more than 50 people on the screen. Roughly 70% of BSoD’s are caused by failing RAM chips or a lack of enough RAM on the PC.

2)In-game Settings: There are times that people have settings on High or even Medium and don’t have a PC that can stand it. Their RAM, CPU, and/or GPU all chug at high settings. It’s always suggested that for events like this to turn your settings down to the bare minimum lowest just to be able to deal with the 60+ players and 40+ Karka in the same area.

3) Computer Specs:

This is minimum:
Windows® XP Service Pack 2 or better
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo 2.0 GHz, Core i3, AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 or better
NVIDIA® GeForce® 7800, ATI Radeon™ X1800, Intel HD 3000 or better (256MB of video RAM and shader model 3.0 or better)
25 GB available HDD space
Broadband Internet connection
Keyboard and mouse

If you’re only hitting minimum requires to play the game, there’s no surprise that stressing events are going to give issues. This isn’t ever recommended to have minimum for an MMO. It is because it’s just the lowest to RUN the game, not run well or stable, but just to run the client and boot it up.

4) Connection: There are such things as low connections. I only know of a few places in America that still have dial-up connection, but these places exist. Worse is a connection shared between multiple running devices in a single location off a router…and that worsens when you have people downloading/uploading as well.

Really hate to brag, but I was running the game client, Youtube, Pandora, and Teamspeak3 without any issues. Many in my guild were able to also play both the game and TS3 without disconnecting once; the only ones who weren’t able to loot the chest logged in too late beyond the event (sort of an own fault thing).

Its got nothing to do with a computer when an ENTIRE overload map crashed at the SAME TIME!!!

couldnt log on till 4pm Aus time and got in once, killing crabs for a while then crash. get the event repeating so we all get the chance.

You didn’t look at the website? Or the forums? Or a fansite? Ok, that’s plausible I guess – but what about the banner on the launcher? ‘Lost Shores Event 16-18 November, Read More…’. I’m guessing you just chose to ignore that. What about the extra NPCs in Lion’s Arch and all the buildup? Sorry, but Arenanet and the devs have gone as far as possible to let people know about what was happening this weekend short of putting a letter through your front door.

about being told about the event being a one time thing, that doesnt help all of us. Even if i had know the event started at 8am i would not have been able to participate. I was busy all day and couldnt log on till 4pm and even then couldnt finish the event as there where crashes and a new build. events should never be one time only, people miss out on it and get angry at the game.

IT was the only time i could participate in this event and it crashes, please anet restart it, not all of us have had a chance to do it.
