Wondering About Possible Future Zones?

in Lore

So going through some cross-referencing between both the Guild Wars 1 Map and the Guild Wars 2 Map I did come across a really well-detailed map (which I can’t take credit for), but felt like I should share it with most of you Lore-enthusiasts:

Now looking at most of the zones, you can see where the towns/cities in GW1 have evolved over time, such as The City of Rin becoming what we know as the Black Citadel, as well as how the movement of the Ascalonian Settlement has shifted all the way to where Divinity’s Reach is.

Now I’d really like to open up discussion about possible upcoming zones, but also to open up more interesting lore options. An example of this – how has the place of ruling for Humans moved from Lion’s Arch (with Queen Salma and ‘The Battle of Lion’s Arch’ ) towards Divinity’s Reach?

So we’re just talking lore then, hmmmm

Will we learn more about the gods through extended visits of the rest of Orr?
Is Koda real, and if so how does he relate to everyone else’s dieties?
If the Giganticus Lupicus in Arah is what the creature looked like in life, what are those skeletons found throughout Ascalon and the Crystal Desert?
Where did Southsun Cove come from?
Why did people go to the Eternal Battlegrounds in the first place?
Will we ever get a chance to visit old places in the Mists like the Hall of Heroes, the Underworld, the Fissure of Woe, and the now Redeemed Realm?
Tied in with the previous, are Dhuum and Menzies back?
Is there a 6th? (Highly doubt that will be answered, lol)

I can go all day, lol

Honestly these are just a fraction of the questions that can be asked. But they’re great questions nonetheless. I’m also quite interested in seeing how they’ll make their take on the Ring of Fire/Crystal Desert areas, and if they have any plans for it.

The main thing I really want to ask is if they’ll plan on anything for PVP Lore, specifically on Heroes Ascent from Guild Wars 1 which was my favourite form of PvP and if they would consider anything similar, or a revisit to the Hall of Heroes.

Cross-Discipline Special Crafting

in Crafting

Not sure if I should post this here or over at the Suggestions forums, but I just wanted to put it out there for discussion. Right now with the state of crafting, we’re leveling each crafting discipline up to 400 and there’s no real incentive to have keep a certain ‘combo’ of crafting disciplines as you can easily swap one for another for a fee.

While there’s the options to further ‘discover’ for each individual crafting discipline for either the Legendary weapon ingredients, craft exotic weapons/armor, there’s just no incentive to keep two disciplines at any point. Some of the high-level recipe’s are even duplicated through different disciplines.

As much as I would hate to bring it up, in World of Warcraft, your choice of crafting profession would net players with specific bonuses, and that some profession combo’s worked better towards their role/play style. Mining/Blacksmithing would net you bonuses to your Stamina as well extra slots for Gems, and Leatherworking/Jewelcrafting would net you special wrist enchantments and the use of better gems in your armor.
(I just want it to be known that I am an avid Guild Wars 2 fanboy, and the only reason I am bringing in WoW is for reference sake. I am in no way making a direct criticism to either crafting system, or attempting to start a cross-game flame war)

I’m not suggesting that GW2 moves in a similar direction as WoW did, but I would suggest that there should be crafting alternatives that would require two specific disciplines at any given-time.

Let’s take Weaponsmithing + Artificing as an example, both dealing with the crafting of weapons, and magical items – now say if they were both maxed, it would be really cool if there are special cross-discipline ingredients that can only be crafted with both disciplines active. Possible items can be magic-imbued greatswords, hammers with tuning crystals, or the ability to change some particle effects cough ICY DRAGON SWORD cough . But this again is just the tip of the iceberg of many different possibility combinations.

Let’s look at other possible options: Armorsmithing + Jewelcrafting, you could craft special skins, ones that are coming to mind involve Guild Wars 1’s very own Diamond Aegis – but this doesn’t necessarily have to involve most PvE armor, as it can also incorporate a character’s town clothing, diamond tiara’s maybe?

But yes this is just a few of the many possible combinations I can think of, obviously the possibilities for each combination is near endless, and can provide a much needed refreshment and advancement on the crafting system.
On another note, this can provide a very interesting dynamic when it comes to crafting legendaries, as they already require two crafting disciplines to craft their respective gifts, or at least further future advancements.

Again this is just my take/suggestion/idea on expanding the crafting discipline, I’d love to hear some suggestions or what people think on this – is there any way you guys can think of advancing on my idea?

P.S. – Mods, I posted this hear in the Crafting section as a topic of discussion rather than an actual suggestion on the crafting system, though if it is deemed more of a suggestion by the moderation team – feel free to move it over.

TL;DR - What do you guys think of having unique crafting options that were dependent on your two active crafting disciplines?

Achievement Tiers-Zhaitan's Bane[Risen]

I don’t know if this was already mentioned before in the suggestion’s forum but I do have a bit of an irk regarding the achievement ’Zhaitan’s Bane’ – the Slayer achievement you receive for killing off Risen.

What really does bother me is that with the way the storyline progresses, this title is relatively ‘easy’ to complete. While it shares the same amount of kills required alongside the rest of the slayer achievements (1,000 kills), it really bothers me that it is missing a fourth tier (alongside the Centaur slayer) – but this is about the difficulty in achieving the max rank.

As the personal storyline progresses, you’ll end up fighting countless and countless Risen to the point where you get sick of it, and the only other achievement that you can progress is your Weapon Master achievements for slaying the amount of Risen.
I’d suggest that a 4th tier be added with a really-high cap just so there is a reason to continue killing Risen.

=) – Any suggestions on this or at least some criticism/feedback or some form of discussion on this would be nice!

Hey fellow Guild Wars fanatics,

I’ve been playing Guild Wars since the launch of the first one and have since fallen in love with the lore. This is my first post in the official forums over the course of the 7+ years I’ve been playing and I thought I should make it count (and ambitiousness overcame me).

I recently just posted a topic over at the Guild Wars 2 subreddit regarding an AMA Request with the Lore Developers or the writers in general explaining my thoughts and reasons for my interest, which can be seen over at:

http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/15wxav/ama_request_lore_developers/

In short, now that the majority of players have experienced the personal story progression / dungeon story modes, it would be nice to have some dialogue with how the writers felt they did right or what they could potentially work upon. This also includes the possibility about how the lore would move forward with the upcoming patches in early 2013.

If you like the idea do give the post a read, or just drop a message here so we can just start some discussion.
